The conversation revolves around the definition and spirit of time attack in the context of different classes and rule sets. Amir argues that time attack is an engineering challenge that pushes the boundaries of car performance, while Kevin emphasizes the importance of driver development. They also touch on the perception of time attack in Japan versus the US. Amir argues that there should be a distinction between cars that are truly dedicated to time attack and those that are not. He believes that the effort and resources put into building a time attack car should be recognized and that the sport should not be diluted by including cars that do not meet the same level of preparation. Kevin, on the other hand, believes that there is room for both types of cars in the sport and that the focus should be on growing and promoting time attack as a whole. They also touch on the role of money and resources in time attack and the passion and dedication required to succeed. Kevin argues that newer cars have inherent advantages and are easier to get into, while Amir emphasizes the importance of effort, dedication, and education in building a successful time attack car

Today, we had the pleasure of speaking with Steve Olson, a seasoned motorcycle racing and bike preparation professional. Steve's expertise lies in prepping motorcycles for beginners and competitive riders, and he shares some of the intricate internal work that goes into crafting a track bike. He challenges the notion of 'If it’s OEM, you better have a good reason for throwing it out' and takes us back to the 'good old days' of motorcycle racing when securing sponsors was a more straightforward task. We also delve into the fascinating speed differentials between a liter (1000cc) bike and some of the fastest cars around Gingerman and the unique challenges that motorcycle racing presents.

Today, we talked to Kevin Burke. One of the fastest dudes driving around SoCal (Southern California). This dude has raced a Viper for Torco, which he bought from Torco. He also owns arguably one of the fastest S2000s on the West Coast. Mike nerds out about electronic differentials. Do you think modern E-Diff cars should be bumped up a class in time attack? We also discussed brake-by-wire, which could be great, or dog water. We finally found the spirit of a time attack! It’s Pain; it's a lot of pain. To wrap things up, what’s a production car?

Today, we have Micah McMahan from 3MI Racing LLC again. We talk about ways to optimize your cooling system. Plot twist: your OEM radiator is likely better than your aftermarket one. As a rule of thumb, you had better have a reason for replacing OEM parts. Fans on a race cars are stupid. We also go through the order of operation to find the spot that best fits your oil cooling needs. We also go over intercoolers, and it gets technical. If there’s one thing from this podcast today, it's duct your heat exchangers. Rule of thumb for radiators as well. Single Pass for most, Double pass for some, Triple pass never. Oh, I almost forgot, DUCT YOUR GOT DAMN HEAT EXCHANGERS!

Today, we have Micah McMahan from 3MI Racing LLC. Micah has a storied history, including going across the pond to work for Oracle Red Bull Racing (Yes, that Red Bull Racing) as a powertrain team lead. He has also worked for Roush Yates Engines, so to say the least, he is experienced in powertrains. In this episode, we explore all things to do with an engine and some of the internal testing/working in F1 powertrains. Why do people skimp out on their cooling system? What else cools your engine besides coolant? We also talk about materials and their properties for engines.

Today, we are joined by Feras Qartoumy. Arguably, it is the fastest Corvette in the world, but let’s settle on North America for now. Feras, let’s dive into what made him choose the Corvette over his sick Nova—another racer with a drag racing background. Feras shares the background information on how the car got to Australia for World Time Attack. He also shares his first-hand account of driving at Sidney Motorsports Park. Going into a blind turn at well over 160mph is a game-changer. Feras talks about some of his upcoming events, including Tsukuba. This is a great one to get some insight into one of the fastest-time attack cars in the world. feras's Socials

On this week's podcast, we have a chat with Jason Kanakry. Jason talks about his history in racing, where he can't seem to stop blowing up cars, from Ford Taurus SHOs to McLarens. No vehicle appears to be safe. Jason also sheds some light on his adventures in his 720s. From cruising in Mexico at triple-digit speeds to watching his 720s drift away on a trailer with no tow vehicle attached. This man has been through it all! He also shed some light on what he does for a living, hinting that he ensures you don't get radiation poison from things like your phone. Mike nerds out about some of the incredible uses for carbon, and you won't believe how much an OEM crate 720s engine costs. Another E9x GLTC mate as well.

In this podcast episode, Mike delves into his professional history, focusing on his experience in the realm of steering systems. We explore the essential elements that contribute to an exceptional steering system and challenge the notion that assessing a system's quality solely based on its "feel" is flawed. Additionally, we discuss the unique aspects of tuning a steering system compared to the more familiar process of tuning an ECU. Buckle up, as today's episode promises to dive deeply into technical details. On a different note, Hayden showcases his expertise by unveiling a new design for the MK1 GTI, aiming to extract an additional 6hp—a significant 10% boost from the factory horsepower.

Quick notes for this episode. We are presented by fuel lab and would love you to stop by their website and check out their brushless pumps. Also, remember you get a special discount by typing in the promo code Tyrone. The other thing you can do to help the show is give it a share and leave a review. Unfortunately, we must impress the algorithms. I don't care what you say, even if Devin isn't the best person on Professional Awesome. On second thought, that's what you should say.
Today, Mike, Dan, and Devin talk about the BS idea that automakers are doing to get more of your money. Similar to online gaming, they want to microtransaction you to death by paying for monthly services. We took that personally. We also discuss what is considered low-hanging fruit to make a car faster and the next step in developing the flagship EVO to reach the next level.
