Bob has always had a concern for the poor and oppressed, and his journey of faith has encompassed liberation theology shaped through years in Central America, coupled with social justice activism and then a radical experience through the charismatic movement - not something he’d wanted at the time! This propelled him into greater effectiveness, with healings and power encounters now accompanying his gospel work. It’s a fascinating, challenging and inspiring story.

My dear friend Richard will any day now be graduating to glory, which is why I’ve brought this forward. It was only recorded a fortnight ago but things have progressed fast, and I’d love him to have the pleasure perhaps of listening to this and knowing it has blessed and challenged us before he breathes his last this side of the veil. His body is ravaged and weakened by years of battling cancer, but his spirit is strong, and his ebbing life is a radical challenge to all of us of what being generous might look like. It’s a powerful message.

When your diminutive mother shouts at the drug-dealer attacking her son: “In the name of Jesus, get off him!” and the drug dealer flies across the garden before running away, that’s going to impact you! Donna’s story is full of God’s interventions and guidance, as she ended up working with the world’s poorest and hungriest people in Burundi, helping them out of poverty through revolutionary (Biblical) farming principles. Just wow!

Aged 23, aspiring international hockey player Kelvin survived a near-fatal car crash, but was left permanently disabled. His life changed overnight, and his faith ultimately pulled him through many dark nights of the soul. God subsequently called him into hospital chaplaincy to minister as a wounded healer with beautiful results.

In 1979, heroin invaded Kenny’s community in Dublin, and the singing stopped. He counted 440 funerals. But he and his wife Sharon were radically changed at the very same moment, and slowly but steadily fresh songs of hope are being sung again, be they by gangsters, drug-dealers, children and more. It’s a stunning account of decades of faithfulness on the same patch, with the ripple effect spreading throughout Dublin and to the nations.

Rape, suicide, freemasonry, demon-possession, paralysis, and more… Sometimes it’s hard to believe what people can have gone through. And yet despite all the knocks, Linda’s story is one of radiant hope and vibrant joy, as she takes to the streets of Southampton in her wheelchair to love folks who have fallen through the cracks. I was left shaking my head in wonder and astonishment at her resilience and God’s grace once I reluctantly brought the interview to an end. What a story!

Former US Army Special Forces officer Dave Eubank tells of multiple near-death experiences as he risks life and limb across a number of nations - training teams to resist the military dictatorship in Myanmar, fighting against ISIS in Mosul, and also providing emergency relief and intervention in other desperately grim hotspots around the globe. He spends most of his time in Myanmar, having founded the Free Burma Rangers two decades ago as a humanitarian service movement for oppressed ethnic minorities. He gives all glory to God, and what a story it is!

Steve Uppal began his own radical and fruitful youth group in the living room as a 13-year-old before graduating through the ranks over the years to senior pastor of a multisite thriving church. But in 2020 he heard God’s gentle corrective whisper: “You’re not fit for purpose. You’re making consumers, not disciples.” Ouch!
