  • We’re back with part 2 of our Existential Risks Edition! Welcome to the fifth episode of the Intergenerational Fairness Day Podcast coming September 19th! Our discussion today has got everything: a hostile takeover, technological advancements, power and peril and a few heroes like my guest today trying to warn us about it all. This is "Episode 5: The Future of Intelligence: AI and the Survival of Humanity." In today's episode, your host Lena Winzer and her guest founder and director of the Existential Risk Observatory, Otto Barten, are going to break it all down—what AGI actually is, why it could pose such a significant risk, and what's being done to address it. So, buckle up as we separate fact from fiction and explore the existential risks of AI, a topic that could very well determine the fate of humanity.

Join us as we discuss the likelihood of extinction through nuclear war, the fallout, its effects including a nuclear winter, as well as efforts and strategies for prevention and disarmament in Episode 4: Nuclear Weapons: The Ultimate Existential Risk! Listen to your host Lena Winzer discuss a whole new aspect of the intergenerational (un)fairness spectrum with her guest Susi Snyder from the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons. She is the programme coordinator at ICAN and was also the president of ICAN's international steering group which pushed for the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons and in 2017 won the Nobel Peace Prize for their efforts. • On November 16th, 2023, organisations from all over the world are proclaiming a worldwide day for action. Join host Lena Winzer as she introduces the concept of 'intergenerational fairness' and the organisations championing the Intergenerational Fairness Day! In too many areas of life, society is acting at the expense of young people and future generations. The day calls for a joint and intensive effort to secure the existence of humanity beyond the next decades so that the interests of younger and future generations are better protected both nationally and internationally. Every three months, Lena sits down with the organisations behind this Intergenerational Fairness Day to introduce and discuss challenges to an intergenerationally fair world.

The podcast launches on 16/11/2023 and you can follow us on instagram @intergenerationalfairnessday!
