Welcome to the Artist Mindset Makeover my friend. I’m really glad you’re here because I believe God is waiting for you inside this makeover. He’s waiting for you to invite Him into your heart and mind, allowing the Holy Spirit to begin a powerful process of transformation with you. No matter who you are, what you’ve been through or what you’re currently going through right now, realize that the Creator of the Universe is standing ready to enable you with all grace to see His transforming power invade your life. Get ready! You’re about to step into your new normal. As you’re getting started on this journey, I want to give you a brief understanding of how transformation happens for us in the Kingdom of God. But first, here’s how it doesn’t happen: by trying harder on your own or waiting for God to show up and “shazzam” change everything. It happens through what the Bible calls the renewing of your mind. That’s not a God-only process nor is it a you-only process. It’s a cooperative process between you and God empowered and led by the Holy Spirit. Here’s how it works.God awakens your heart to His vision and plans for your life. You begin to come into agreement with those plan and realize that the closer you are to Him, the more they reflect the deepest longings of your heart. As you envision and dream with God about the plans He has for you through prayer and your divinely-inspired imagination, your heart begins to be what the Bible calls ‘fully persuaded’. Once that happens, God’s plan for your life becomes more and more clear each day.Along the way, you’ll be faced with fear, anxiety and accusation from the enemy usually based on your past, the opinions of others or your own feelings of unworthiness. You have a choice (and this is key)! You can either continue to agree with the lies of the past or you can recognize those lies, intentionally replace them with the truth of God’s Word and then reinforce that new truth at every opportunity. It’s your choice. The Holy Spirit is there to empower and lead you but my friend, it’s your choice. As you choose to make those choices to align your thoughts with God’s Word over time, based on the precious promises of God, your heart and mind will begin to change. They will literally shed the old and be clothed in the new, creating new pathways in your brain that will align with God’s best for your life. This Artist Mindset Makeover is designed to help you start that process by addressing the 7 most common misconceptions (lies) that artists believe and replace them with the truth of God’s Word. Welcome to the journey!

The Emerald explores the human experience through a vibrant lens of myth, story, and imagination. Brought to life through the wise, wild, and humorous vision of Joshua Michael Schrei — a teacher and lifelong student of the cosmologies and mythologies of the world — the podcast draws from a deep well of poetry, lore, and mythos to challenge conventional narratives on politics and public discourse, meditation and mindfulness, art, science, literature, and more. At the heart of the podcast is the premise that the imaginative, poetic, animate heart of human experience — elucidated by so many cultures over so many thousands of years — is missing in modern discourse and is urgently needed at a time when humanity is facing unprecedented problems. The Emerald advocates for an imaginative vision of human life and human discourse as it questions deep underlying assumptions about societal progress.
