Jeremy Langmead is one of the founders of the global men’s e-tailer, Mr Porter, part of the YOOX Net-a-Porter Group. He joined in 2010 to help launch the e-commerce business in 2011 and oversaw the design, branding, content, social, communications and events teams for a number of years.
Jeremy has also served as chief content officer at Christie’s, launched LUXX magazine for The Times in 2017, and was previously editor-in-chief of Esquire, Wallpaper and the Sunday Times Style magazines.
Today Jeremy consults for a number of fashion and grooming brands; writes for The Times Saturday magazine, a grooming column for The Times’ LUXX magazine, the Telegraph, and has published a book on male vanity called “Vain Glorious;” and is the co-host of the podcast “How Long Have We Got?” with his friend Sarah Edmundson.
In this episode, Jeremy tells host Anne V Mühlethaler about his tumultuous childhood, filled with numerous stepfathers and a desire to create perfect worlds as a means of escape.
Jeremy recounts his early days in fashion, his time at Central St Martin’s and the career progression that led him from newspapers and magazines to Mr Porter (and the Mr Porter Post). From his move from the global e-tailer to Christie's and back, he shares the lessons he’s learned and the importance of innovation and storytelling in his professional journey.
Jeremy candidly shares with Anne his battle with prostate cancer, offering a raw and honest look at the challenges he faced. His diagnosis became a focal point for raising awareness about the importance of early detection in prostate cancer (check your PSAs, he reminds our listeners), which is what led him to write publicly about his experience for the Times and the Saturday Times Magazine. He explains how he met his friend and co-host Sarah and how the two of them decided to start a podcast that tries to “take the kerfuffle out of cancer,” in their own words.
Jeremy emphasises the complexities of living (and working) while in treatment, including how his relationship with his body has changed. He and Anne discuss how we can harness the power of storytelling to support patients in their health journeys and the crucial importance of cancer literacy.
Throughout the discussion, Jeremy talks about the intersection of vanity and authenticity, particularly as a gay man in the fashion world. He shares stories with Anne about his own experiences with male grooming (from hair transplant to eyelash dying) and explores the societal perceptions of vanity, encouraging men to embrace their desires to look and feel good without shame.
While the topic of the episode is serious at times, Jeremy shares his story with humour, tact and warmth, understanding the significant influence that the podcast has on the cancer community and those close to someone living with the illness.
By sharing his story, Jeremy not only raises awareness for early testing in prostate cancer, but also offers inspiration to listeners to find beauty and meaning in their journeys, regardless of the obstacles they may face.
An inspiring conversation that shows how humour, resilience and storytelling go hand in hand.

Shoshana Stewart is the president of Turquoise Mountain, an NGO founded in 2006 in Afghanistan by His Majesty King Charles, to preserve cultural heritage and support artisans where their traditions are under threat. Shoshana lived in Afghanistan for five years when she first joined, and has led the project to create over 25,000 jobs, bring over $17 million of crafts to market, build the Institute for Afghan Arts and Architecture, restored over 150 historic buildings in the Old City of Kabul, and provided primary healthcare for almost 200,000 people. She has also expanded the project to work with artisans in Myanmar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan (including Syrian refugees), and Palestine.
Shoshana has an MBA from the London Business School, a master’s degree in Education, and a bachelor's degree in Astrophysics. She is also a Senior Fellow at Yale’s Jackson Institute for Global Affairs.
Shoshana shares with Anne her life’s serendipitous journey which began in astrophysics, before leading her to teach 8th grade science, and that saw her find her way to Afghanistan, in a career cultural heritage restoration in Afghanistan.
Turquoise Mountain was created with the original goal of revitalising Kabul’s architectural legacy, as Shoshana explains, and now supports artisan communities in several regions of the world. Shoshana emphasises to Anne the organisation's expansive work with artisans and, in some areas, with refugees in Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Palestine and Myanmar.
Further going into Turquoise Mountain's initiatives, Shoshana tells Anne about her experience and the collective effort that was the restoration of the area of Murad Khani in old Kabul and how putting the art school in the centre of the old city gave the project a sort of a beating heart for this impressive regeneration project.
She shares compelling stories of resilience and creativity, showcasing how these efforts were helped by global collaborations. Designers like ethical jeweller Pippa Small play a pivotal role in this story, bringing Afghan jewellery to international markets and highlighting the powerful impact of blending tradition with modern market strategies.
Through these partnerships, Shoshana further emphasises how the work of the nonprofit not only preserves cultural heritage, but also creates sustainable livelihoods for artisans.
Shoshana also tells Anne about her decision to pursue an MBA to address market challenges, which showcases her commitment to finding innovative solutions for artisan communities.
Their discussion touches on the significant challenges posed by recent global events, including political upheavals and the COVID-19 pandemic, underscoring the resilience of the communities supported by Turquoise Mountain. The organisation’s ability to maintain connections and support artisans through these turbulent times is a testament to its enduring impact.
As the conversation unfolds further, Shoshana highlights the transformative power of cultural heritage in fostering connections between artisans and clients, and changing perceptions about regions often associated with conflict. Anne then touches on broader themes of mindfulness and intentional living, and Shoshana shares the practices that ground her amidst the ongoing challenges she experiences.
This interview provides a rich illustration of stories and insights from Shoshana's work with Turquoise Mountain. It paints a vivid picture of how cultural preservation can create a positive global impact, demonstrating the importance of heritage and craftsmanship in building resilient communities.
A compelling conversation with an exceptional leader and advocate for the craftsmen and craftswomen she supports. Happy listening!

Born in New Haven, CT, Heidi Lender began her career reporting on the fashion universe for national magazines, writing features and styling photo shoots throughout her twenties. With a BA in apparel and textiles from Cornell University, she covered style and travel from New York to Paris, where she served as Fashion Director and Associate Bureau Chief of Women’s Wear Daily and W Magazine. After Paris she went to India, where she lived part-time while studying yoga for the next eight years. In 2007, she opened and taught at a yoga studio in San Francisco, and two years later she discovered her creative self in photography. Self-taught, she began by creating self-portraits and realised a meaningful way to make sense of the world and her place in it. Her images are often based in self-inquiry that stem from personal experiences, relationships and/or investigate identity.
She is represented by galleries in the U.S. and Uruguay and has exhibited internationally. Heidi is a founding member of the online collective Six Shooters, has twice been a Critical Mass finalist, received recognition from the likes of the Pollux Awards and the Julia Margaret Cameron Award. Her work has been featured in PDN and Rangefinder magazines and in online photo blogs including CNN, NPR and the New Yorker’s Photo Booth. Editorial credits include WSJ Magazine, Disegno Journal and Grey Magazine. In 2014, Kehrer Verlag published the photography book “Grassland” under Lender’s pseudonym, H. Lee. She currently resides on an 80-acre ranch in Pueblo Garzón, Uruguay, where she has founded CAMPO, a nonprofit creative institute supporting international artists (www.campogarzon.org).
In this episode and her discussion with Anne, Heidi recounts her impulsive decision to leave her burgeoning career as a fashion director in Paris at the young age of 26.
A pivotal moment in Heidi's personal story, she tells Anne, is her discovery of Garzón, Uruguay. During an impromptu trip to South America, she stumbled upon her dream home in the quaint village, which became the birthplace of CAMPO. Heidi describes to Anne how her passion for photography flourishes in this picturesque setting, where the art of self-portraiture becomes a therapeutic outlet and a means of self-expression. The episode highlights how photography, combined with mindfulness practices, has been a crucial part of Heidi's healing journey.
Heidi then goes deeper into the founding and growth of CAMPO, which has evolved into a sanctuary for artists, chefs and writers from around the world. Heidi articulates her vision of creating transformative experiences for both residents and attendees, fostering a sense of community through artistic collaboration. The festival, now a three-day event with a month-long residency program, is using the theme "unsettled" this year. The theme explores migration and movement, thus reflecting Heidi's own journey of continuous reinvention.

In this episode and her discussion with Anne, Heidi recounts her impulsive decision to leave her burgeoning career as a fashion director in Paris at the young age of 26. Her tale is marked by personal challenges, including a divorce and the emotional roller coaster of IVF, which she bravely shares with Anne. Heidi's journey of self-discovery and resilience is punctuated by her immersion into the world of yoga, which led to her being trained under the renowned K. Pattabhi Jois, finding solace and a renewed sense of purpose.
Prompted by Heidi expressing the realisations she had while shopping in Goa, Anne shares a similar experience from her recent trip to Greece, emphasising the significance of unique, locally-crafted fashion. Anne also speaks candidly about her battle with rheumatoid arthritis and how yoga has been instrumental in her physical and emotional well-being, noting that movement does indeed help with pain, despite seeming counterintuitive. The episode takes a reflective turn as Heidi shares the trials and tribulations she faced during her attempts at conceiving through IVF, eventually leading her to embrace a different life path with acceptance and grace.

The episode concludes with a heartfelt discussion between Heidi and Anne on the value of solitude, introspection and the interconnectedness of creative pursuits and personal growth. Heidi shares important moments of reconnection with her past and influential figures, weaving a narrative of the importance of serendipity and openness to new perspectives. Through her story, Heidi exemplifies resilience, creativity and the transformative power of embracing life's unpredictable turns.

In this episode, Anne Muhlethaler hosts a compelling conversation with Debjani Biswas, a chemical engineer turned executive coach and best-selling author. She explains how despite the societal expectations of the time, Debjani's father encouraged her to pursue a path in engineering, a field dominated by men, thus setting the stage for her future endeavors in breaking gender barriers.
As the conversation progresses, Debjani reflects on the challenges she faced in the corporate world, particularly as an Indian woman in engineering, and how these experiences shaped her transition to becoming an advocate for workplace inclusivity. We hear her concept of being "miserably successful” (which is also the title of one of her books), where she discusses the stress and dissatisfaction that can accompany traditional measures of success. Debjani's story emphasizes the importance of finding joy and purpose in one's career.
The episode also explores Debjani's unique approach to executive coaching, which empowers leaders and redefines success beyond conventional metrics. She discusses the importance of executive presence, active listening, and the core competencies outlined by the International Coach Federation (ICF) in fostering a supportive environment for clients. Her journey into coaching, prompted by a perceptive manager, underscores the value of recognising and nurturing one's innate abilities.
Towards the end of the episode, Debjani emphasises the power of storytelling and imagery in challenging societal biases and fostering inclusivity.
A profound conversation with a trailblazing change maker. Happy listening!

Today, Anne has a compelling conversation with Debjani Biswas, a chemical engineer turned executive coach and best-selling author. The episode begins with Debjani recounting her privileged upbringing in India and the profound influence her supportive family, especially her father, had on her academic and professional journey. Despite the societal expectations of the time, Debjani's father encouraged her to pursue a path in engineering, a field dominated by men, thus setting the stage for her future endeavors in breaking gender barriers.
As the conversation progresses, Debjani delves into her experiences of cultural adjustment and bias after moving to the United States. She reflects on the challenges she faced in the corporate world, particularly as an Indian woman in engineering, and how these experiences shaped her transition to becoming an advocate for workplace inclusivity. We hear her concept of being "miserably successful” (which is also the title of one of her books), where she discusses the stress and dissatisfaction that can accompany traditional measures of success. Debjani's story emphasizes the importance of finding joy and purpose in one's career.
Debjani shares anecdotes about the support she received from her family, particularly her son, which played a crucial role in her decision to write books and give keynote speeches on inclusivity. She also credits her grandfather, a renowned scientist, for nurturing her intellectual curiosity, as well as her sisters for taking diverse career paths, demonstrating the varying influences within her family.
She shares her personal practices for mindfulness and intentional living, including yoga, meditation, and morning journaling, which help her stay grounded amidst challenges. The conversation wraps up with reflections on the importance of connection and joy in both personal and professional life, leaving listeners inspired by Debjani's journey of transformation and her unwavering commitment to making a positive impact in the world.
A profound conversation with a trailblazing change maker. Happy listening!

Anne V Muhlethaler interviews Ana Maria Sierra, a market development and strategic communication consultant living in Colombia. She is a Fulbright Scholar with a master’s degree in mass media from the New School for Social Research in New York. Following a 15-year corporate career in business management and leading senior management teams in Colombian and multinational banking and service companies, Ana founded Sierra Restrepo Consultores in 2009, a consultancy specialising in marketing and strategic communication. From an early education in the arts, then media before going into banking, Ana Maria has built a robust career and has worked with clients across Latin America in the coffee sector.
In their conversation, Ana tells Anne about her journey with MODA ELAN, the conscious and ethical jewellery platform she founded that aims to be the bridge that brings together the best ethical jewellery designers from around the world with the jewellery masters and gold panners from the biogeographical Chocó territories in the Pacific Coasts of Colombia. Ana shares how she became motivated by her love for handcrafted jewellery after taking a silversmithing course in Bogota, which led her to transition from a successful career in promoting coffee consumption in Colombia to pursuing her passion for silversmithing and artisanal metallurgy and eventually founding Moda Elan. Through this B2B platform she hopes to support local artisans and promote ethical jewellery practices.
Leveraging her consultancy firm, Ana explains how she began to sell her jewellery as pop-up shops and fairs, gradually incorporating contemporary urban jewellers into her portfolio. Her deep involvement with the Alliance for Responsible Mining opened her eyes to the importance of responsibly sourced minerals and single-origin gold, which became a cornerstone of her ethical jewellery brand. She became passionate about the powerful pre-Hispanic metallurgy legacy she discovered, which led her to choose to promote work rooted in the history of the Americas, with its unique aesthetics, materials — and, through the jewellery, bring those values to the world. Ana’s passion is evident as she tells Anne how she is committed to work with the Afro goldsmith communities of the Chocó Biogeographical Region while adding sustainability to their cultural heritage around goldsmithing.
Ana's work is characterised by a strong commitment to social impact, particularly in supporting vulnerable communities like women miners and the Afro-Colombian artisan jewellers of this region. She talks about the impact of unlicensed mining and emphasises the need for transparency in the jewellery supply chain, advocating for ethical sourcing and fair trade practices.
Looking ahead, Ana offers her vision for Moda Elan, which would be to expand its reach and bring more awareness and support for ethical jewellery, reaching the wider ethical luxury market and leveraging the stories and values behind each piece to spark meaningful conversations with the view to drive sustainable change. She acknowledges the challenges she faces, such as managing rural associations and competing with large gold traders, but remains determined to overcome them. To illustrate that point, Ana jokes that this project is like “a jumbo jet with a blender motor.”
Ana's journey is a testament to the power of shared values and the potential for creating positive impact through dedication and collaboration. Happy listening!

Arthur Gourounlian (@gourounlian) is an Armenian-born professional dancer, choreographer and television personality, and most recently one of the three judges on Dancing with the Stars Ireland.
Arthur has performed and toured with some of the most beloved performers of recent time, from Bananarama to Beyoncé, Pink to Kylie Minogue, and many more. After a successful career as a dancer, he went on to take a leading role in casting, coaching, movement directing and choreographing music videos, world tours, media campaigns, and trade/fashion shows for Christian Louboutin, Diesel, Puma, Jean-Paul Gaultier among others. He has also appeared on television and movies, fashion shows, and advertising campaigns himself, and performed in Britain's Got Talent, Celebrity X Factor, the Brit Awards and The Royal Variety Show.
Arthur and Anne met in 2010 when she was working for Christian Louboutin. They collaborated on a project for online platform Fashionair, when Arthur trained Christian for his first and only dance performance, which culminated in a viral video that saw the famous shoe designer tap dance his way in a dream sequence on a London stage.
In this conversation, Arthur shares with Anne his harrowing journey from Armenia to Belgium as a refugee with his family, escaping the war when he was just twelve years old. Then how, while their refugee status was still being decided, his family was rocked by the death of his father. Shortly after, young Arthur left for Brussels to try his hand at hairdressing, only to find himself being picked out of the crowd and selected as a dancer. From there, Arthur discusses his many surprises and successes, how he went from Milan to London, and made his mark on the dance scene as a performer before turning to choreography and creative direction.
Arthur dreamt of making it big, an homage to his father, and moving away from the refugee status he carried as an adolescent. The successful and charismatic personality is also the other half of one of Ireland’s most beloved celebrity couples, as he is married to Big Brother alumni/star Brian Dowling. The two of them recently welcomed their first child into the world, Blake Maria Rose, and Arthur shares the ups and downs that have led to this most joyous moment.
Arthur’s story is quite unlike any other. As Anne reflects to him, it’s epic enough to be hinting at Joseph Campbell’s hero’s journey. A sparkling, touching and deeply positive interview with someone who will certainly light up your day. Happy listening.
Favourite quote of the episode:
‘I only keep things that Arthur wants to keep because I only keep what I think is best for me. Why would I listen to you? It's your journey. I want to create my own journey.’

In this episode of Out of the Clouds, host Anne Muhlethaler interviews celebrity fitness trainer and former ballerina Julie Granger. Anne came across Julie via an online recommendation and was immediately struck not only by the instructor’s passion for teaching and the effectiveness of her classes (particularly Brooklyn Barre), but also by the combination of her warmth and dry sense of humour.
In this interview, they dig into Julie’s journey from the outskirts of Paris to the Boston Ballet, why she left her ballerina career behind, and how she decided to pursue new callings, including yoga, fitness and entrepreneurship.
Currently based between Paris and Lisbon, Julie explains how she is ‘three-quarters teacher’, and why she is not teaching by default but as a choice since it’s something she truly loves. Having opened her first studio the week before the first COVID lockdown in 2020, the ex-ballerina opens up on the difficulties she faced then and how grateful she is to have been able to continue to lead her community of students (her ‘Squad,’ as she calls them) virtually.
Anne and Julie discuss the competitive culture of celebrity trainers in New York and the benefits of discipline and passion. Julie also shares how she wants to offer her students not just the benefits of a toned and energised body but for them to have a great time while engaging with fitness, as well as how she hopes to make the benefits of ballet available to all. Finally, Julie covers how she’s learned to be kinder to herself, as we often are our own harshest critics, and why kindness is what matters most.
A passionate, wise, and spirited interview. Happy listening!

In this one-of-a-kind episode, host of the Out of the Clouds podcast, Anne V Mühlethaler, is the ‘guest,’ this time being interviewed by her friend, podcast host and journalist Etain Lavelle.
Anne shares in her introduction that Etain is like extended family to her. They became friends in their twenties and shared a flat on London’s Gloucester Road for a few years. Etain was the best person to interview Anne for this special episode. In this conversation, Etain dives into Anne’s life journey, asking about her childhood memories and her unconventional education. Anne explains how she found herself settling into a retail career at Christian Louboutin, which was then a small label, after abandoning her pursuit at a music career. She also recounts the outset of what ended up as a seventeen-year stint at the now global shoe brand.
Later, Anne talks about the vision behind her coaching, consulting and storytelling practice and the genesis of her podcast Out of the Clouds, before talking about why being consistent in communication is just as essential as choosing the right platforms for a brand.
The two discuss successes and lessons learned from difficulties at home during Anne’s teenage years. They reflect how her past put her on the path that she is on, though, leading her to become a mindfulness meditation teacher. It’s an emotional topic for Anne, who fights back tears as she reveals the intimate connection between the two.
To conclude, Etain and Anne discuss language, their favourite books, how their travels have changed them, and the importance of trusting the process.
A unique interview that offers a glimpse into Anne’s backstory. Happy listening!

Before we get to the interview, a message from Anne:
‘Hosting this podcast and interviewing all these amazing people has been such an enriching experience, and I had no idea the impact it would have on me and my listeners. With every conversation, I feel changed by my guests' stories. Because it is stories that stay with us, that and how people made us feel.’
On that note, dear listener, can you please do me a favour?
If you enjoy Out of the Clouds, please rate and review the show on Apple Podcasts or Spotify. It helps make it stand out and will support booking of upcoming guests.’
Episode NotesKnown in the yoga world as THE teachers’ teacher, Annie Carpenter (@anniecarpentersmartflow) shares her story with Anne, who has been an avid student, first via online platform Glo.com, before attending live Zoom classes and IRL workshops with her in 2022.
Annie’s journey starts in Virginia, but she tells Anne how she found her path early on with dance, leading her to the Martha Graham company and New York City. From getting a scholarship to working at the junior company and briefly joining the main company, Annie found a calling in what she refers to as authentic self-movement and in teaching at the Martha Graham Center. An introvert, she shares with Anne how yoga became an essential part of her life, thanks to Integral yoga (Swami Satchidananda’s school) which felt like a refuge from the competitiveness of the dance world.
Annie explains how after a trip to LA and a conversation with her teacher Maty Ezraty, she impulsively relocated to the West Coast and turned to teaching yoga full time, training at Yoga Works under Maty and Lisa Walford. They go on to talk about teaching, about Annie's movement principles and energy, how to create inspiration for students, and why Annie founded her own yoga school, Smart Flow Yoga.
Annie also shares why continuing to evolve is essential, as well as learning to let go of preconceived notions. She explains how she has learnt to tap into her students’ expectations rather than relying on her own. Now based in Northern California, the teacher, who turned 65 this year, also talks about the stages of life, or ashrams, and she is learning to ‘retire’ whatever is not supportive in her practice. Quoting Noam Chomsky, she says: "If you are teaching today what you were teaching five years ago, either your field is dead, or you are.”
Annie also reveals her passion for bird-watching, her mindfulness and pranayama practices, and how learning to be still was the doorway to her meditation practice. Finally, she answers the most delicate and profound question of all, one that Annie regularly asks her students: who is Annie?
A joyous, profoundly thoughtful and inspiring interview. Enjoy!

There are serendipitous moments in life, particularly when two women who are equally passionate about storytelling and connection end up on a podcast together. In this episode, Anne Muhlethaler interviews author, advisor and self-professed hype woman Lisa Bragg.
Lisa starts by sharing her journey from TV news reporter to launching her business, MediaFace, in 2007, which pioneered what we now know as content for our digital world. She also offers thoughts on the challenges posed by growing up with Bragg as a last name.
That leads Anne to ask Lisa about the genesis for her book, “Bragging Rights,” as well as how she designed the research which underpins it. Lisa speaks about the importance of creating a safe environment for people to talk about their successes, either at home or at work, to support personal and professional growth. While some research out there advises women not to brag or celebrate their successes for fear of backlash, Lisa challenges the concept (and the research) and suggests that it’s time for us to change the culture and ‘sister up’.
She goes on to explain how taking an inventory of our personal values can be one of many exercises to explore meaningful self-promotion, highlighting that we are all the “CEO of our own life.”
The two women discuss that while purposeful self-promotion is important, it’s often challenging. Anne admits to barely being able to name any of her successes, and Lisa responds that ‘she is her book,’ meaning that she, too, has times where she goes back into her shell, waiting to be discovered instead of putting herself out there —and she wrote the book on it!
Lisa is clear about her mission to help others be seen and heard, and leaves listeners with this recommendation: Don't wait for others to give you opportunities, take them into your own hands, adding “celebrate your successes and don't tear down others for their achievements.”
A powerful conversation with a compelling guest. Happy listening!

In this episode, host Anne Mühlethaler speaks with Chris Schembra, a renowned facilitator, community builder and gratitude expert dedicated to transforming professional environments through the power of recognition, belonging and authentic connection.
As the author of two bestselling books, ”Gratitude Through Hard Times” and “Gratitude and Pasta,” Chris blends heartfelt storytelling with data-driven insights to deliver impactful keynote addresses and advisory services. His expertise has led him to collaborate with industry giants such as Google, Microsoft, IBM, Dell, and the U.S. Navy, among others. Recognized as a Founding Member of Rolling Stone Magazine's Culture Council and dubbed the "Gratitude Guru" by USA Today, Chris's work has sparked over 500,000 relationships within the workplace.
In their conversation, Chris shares with Anne his journey, starting with growing up by the water in South Carolina, his parents’ epic parties and his devastating subsequent loss of memory due to ADHD medication.
The two then talk about their love of Rome and how Chris was inspired by his own visit to host a Roman style dinner and gathering back home in New York City, for which he invented a pasta recipe. On July 15, 2015, Chris invited 15 friends into his 350-square-foot studio apartment. Already an engaging event, magic happened when Chris asked one question of his guests that changed everything: “If you could give credit or thanks to one person in your life that you don't give enough credit or thanks to, or you've never thought to thank, who would that be?”
From there, Chris’ passion for fostering gratitude and meaningful conversations around the dinner table evolved into the creation of the 7:47 Gratitude Experience — so named for the time during that infamous evening that he asked his thought-provoking question. The program is an evidence-based framework designed to strengthen client and team relationships. Since 2020, his company has organised 402 virtual gratitude experiences, migrating to online during the pandemic.
Chris and Anne discuss the kind of gratitude practised at Chris’ events: not the self-reflective kind, but gratitude directed towards people. He was influenced to do this by the researcher Barbara Fredrickson, who proved in the broaden-and-build theory of positive emotion that gratitude has the ability to actually broaden your thought action repertoire needed for positive effect, making our brains more open for joy, contentment, play and connection. Chris' approach at 7:47 events is rooted in empathy and scientifically backed principles, prioritising creating cultures of appreciation and belonging within leading corporations worldwide.
The conversation takes many twists and turns because Chris is an epic storyteller. He and Anne talk about the importance of focus to succeed in business, with Chris quoting his friend Dave who advised him that ‘focus equals growth.’ Anne also asks Chris in-depth questions about his two books. Plus Chris honestly discusses some of the hardest times he’s experienced, including some serious incidents of non-suicidal self-harm.
Anne ends the podcast asking Chris first his signature question, then hers — “What brings you happiness?" — which brings the two to discuss both hedonic and eudaimonic happiness.
To conclude, Chris advises listeners to go out and seek opportunities and that we can go and tell our stories, along with this important message: “Do not underestimate how powerful your story is.”
An inspired conversation with a heart-opening storyteller and community builder that will leave you moved. Happy listening!

In this episode of Out of the Clouds, host Anne Muhlethaler speaks to her friend, the beauty entrepreneur Bridgitte Dempsey Klein, founder of French natural skincare brand Yanne Wellness.
In their conversation, Anne gets to ask Bridgitte to tell her about her journey from Toronto to London, where the two met thanks to their mutual friend Stephanie. Bridgitte shares about her love of travel, how important her French mother’s influence was on her, and how she moved from studying at the London School of Economics with diplomatic pursuits in mind before making a switch to work in retail, later landing in beauty PR and communication.
In a super pivot, Bridgitte shares how she left her role at Lancôme to set up Corbin, a bespoke fur business in Paris. The two explore Bridgitte’s experience in brand building, and creating unique pieces in the French capital, with all its savoir-faire and artisans, and how this has in turn informed her approach to Yanne Wellness. While she was establishing Corbin, Bridgitte also worked for her Canadian family’s business, The Dempsey Corporation.
The Franco-Canadian entrepreneur shares how she also drew inspiration from her grandmother for Corbin Paris, and later her mother, Yanne, whose influence can be felt at all levels of the new venture Yanne Wellness. Cath and Jeremy Brown are the couple behind the beloved design brand Feldspar Studio (@feldsparstudio), known for its useful everyday items, made properly by the careful hands of master craftspeople in their two workshops in England.
The couple talk to Anne, who supported them early on as a consultant, about their early careers, how the two met (a very romantic story) and explain how they left London for Devon on a whim after Cath got pregnant with their first son, Milo. They also relay to Anne how they got their hand into ceramics and how, not much after, they decided to turn this creative experiment into a bona fide company.
Jeremy is used to wearing many different hats, with a background in art and design from Goldsmith’s College and an expertise in woodwork from an earlier time. He also worked for the UN and later the International Trade Center (part of WTO) with ethical and sustainable artisans workshops in remote communities. Meanwhile Cath went from the art world to architecture, building schools in her last job.
Both are obsessed with having total control over the design, production and packaging of their products, and the pair, balanced in their skill sets, explain how they split the work between themselves but ultimately make all their decisions together.
Their famously ‘wonky’ products are considered designs, as Cath explains, made mindfully for superior enjoyment — like the dimples in their coffee mugs or the perfect pour of their teapot. The two are equally excited at the idea to continue to grow the product range while committing to work with labour-intensive crafts that are currently endangered in the UK.
With the goal of continuing to make things by hand, the Feldspar duo offer a fresh approach to old materials, creating designs to outlive the owner — true objects for life.
Jeremy and Cath also tell Anne about the importance of regularly reevaluating their lifestyle as the company grows, so that they stay true to their priorities: spending time with each other and with their kids.
Cath then shares the story of her Neapolitan great-great-grandpa’s cookbook and chats to Anne about the studio’s upcoming collaborations with artist Tanya Ling.
The couple end by revealing their dream future for Felspar, a holistic experience which they jokingly describe as ‘Google, but for making things’.
A joyful and insightful conversation with an inspiring entrepreneurial duo. Happy listening!
