We invited Nikolay, a student and vlogger who runs the "Videos from Mariupol" YouTube channel, to discuss his experiences during the first months of the SMO, how things have changed since Mariupol became a part of Russia, and what it was like to grow up in the post-Maidan Ukraine. We discussed his personal story, his evacuation from the city and what the rebuilding process looks like... There were also a bunch of questions from our subscribers that we asked him.Subscribe to our podcast: https://www.patreon.com/posts/rwa-interview-114692945

The Central Asian front of the Russian Civil War is seldom talked about — it was remote and chaotic, the wild Russian frontier, full of its own "Cowboys and Indians". Today's Radio Deza features a Bolshevik General switching sides, a prodigal Romanov prince, a suicidal battle in the mountains and tales of lost treasure... It's 1919, and we're going to the Fergana Valley. Join us! -

Ten years ago, the Russian Spring rolled through eastern and southern Ukraine, leading to the reunification of Crimea with Russia. The new government in Kiev, having just taken power through the Euromaidan, decided to crush the pro-Russian protests by force, leading to the War in the Donbass.
Few remember those events in detail - the spring of 2014 is covered in a thick veil of propaganda and mythology. We have scoured long-forgotten blogs, defunct news websites, talked to participants and checked out many other archival sources, all with one goal: reconstructing a detailed chronology of those events — the Spirit of 2014!
