  • This week, our guest on the Driven Chat Podcast is James Cottingham, the managing director at the world-famous DK Engineering. Located just outside NW London, James and his team at DK Engineering strive to offer a comprehensive service for individuals wishing to buy, sell, restore, race, and store performance and specialist cars. In his own words, James summarises the company's ethos as one that offers 'the complete service'.

In this conversation hosted by John Marcar and Miles Lacey, James openly shares DK's success story, starting with how his parents went from managing a small collection of cars for a select group of individuals to scaling the company to have an international reputation under his leadership.

Before the podcast, James led John, Miles, and photographer Henry on an exclusive tour of the facility to see all corners of the business, which provided many talking topics for the podcast.

  • How much do you spend on a typical McDonalds order? Are you concerned about receding hairlines? Can a racing driver take a 'sick day'? This week's podcast addresses hard-hitting topics like this and more.

Tom Ingram is a much-loved driver competing in the British Touring Car Championship. In this week's podcast episode, Tom shares his incredible and humbling story, which details how he, as an excited child, spent many hours replaying touring car season highlights on a VHS cassette at home and later went on to compete in his very own touring car, the EXCELR8 Hyundai i30 N to then win the BTCC Championship in 2022.

  • Paul Cowland is a self-confessed classic car nut. He indulges in his passion with his very own collection of 79 cars (yes, you read that correctly - seventy-nine) but also through his work, which sees Paul presenting television shows such as Motor Pickers and Salvage Hunters.

When not beside or in front of a camera, Paul is also a considerable influence in the work of automotive PR, assisting brands, manufacturers and companies in communicating with the world of consumers. Paul joins John Marcar to discuss his working world and to share some exciting news about an upcoming feature film he's involved in called 'Classic'.

This week's recording occurred on-site at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Car Show at the NEC in Birmingham.

We also discuss the new Gran Turismo film, the new Rolls-Royce Spectre and not one but two press vehicles that have been delivered in the past week - the Hyundai Ionic 6 and the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS.

We also have some rather big news to announce, along with a call to action for you, our listeners! No clues - you'll have to listen in.

  • Richard Tuthill is a man who, for many, needs no introduction at all - especially to those with an affliction to air-cooled Porsche 911s.

From his workshops in Oxfordshire, Richard and his team of engineers build, prepare and restore Stuttgart’s most iconic sports cars on behalf of car collectors, rally competitors, racing drivers and enthusiasts.

In this week’s podcast, Richard sits down with John Marcar and Miles Lacey to work through his broad career, his relationship with ADHD and the many aspects of his company, Tuthill Porsche, including the organisation of African continental rallies and ice rallying in Scandinavia.

  • This week on the Podcast: John Marcar sits down with PR Guru Wayne Bruce. Wayne, affectionately known to many as ‘Man Bat’, is the Chief Communications and D&I Officer at Bentley Motors and is responsible for much of what we see, hear and experience from the Bentley brand alongside his team of colleagues.

Before taking the leading comms role at Bentley, Wayne has also been at the forefront of executive automotive PR with roles at VW, SEAT, Nissan, INFINITI and perhaps one of the most significant chapters, McLaren Automotive, where in his time as Global Communications Director he oversaw the launch of the McLaren P1, 650S, 675LT, 570S, 570GT, 720S, Senna, 600LT, Speed Tail and the GT.

Later, Wayne moved from the British new kid on the block (McLaren) to one of the most prestigious British brands - Bentley where since starting with the marque, has seen his involvement in bringing the hybrid Bentayga, the 3rd Generation Continental GT, and the latest Generation Flying Spur to market as well as reworking and relaunching the prestigious Mulliner brand.

In this unique conversation, Wayne and John work through a fantastic career, starting with a spy shot of a Rover 200 Convertible in a Dunkin’ Donuts car park in the US… yes, really.

  • If we asked you to list ten people specialising in selling the most exciting road and racing cars, we'd suspect that Max Girardo would be on that list.

Girardo and Co. is a name that has become synonymous with buying, selling, and storing (for a lucky few) some of the most notable cars. For this week's podcast episode, John Marcar and Miles Lacey visit Max at his home and business in Oxfordshire, where they have a full tour of the facilities before sitting down for a chat.

Max's career has seen him selling for globally renowned auctioneers such as Bonhams and RM and working with other famous specialists such as Simon Kidston. Max shares the details of his unorthodox career and explains how and why he's fluent in 4 languages and the importance of all things Italian.

  • There's no denying it: whether we like it or not, the EV revelation is coming, and with lots of uncertainty, anxiety and questions needing to be answered, fortunately, GRIDSERVE is on hand to help.

On this week's podcast episode, John Marcar heads to Norfolk to meet with Jon Quirk and Rob Buckland at GRIDSERVE's Norwich Electric Forecourt. Jon Quirk is the head of content at GRIDSERVE, helping bridge the gap between the questions and answers around EV ownership and usage. Rob Buckland is the chief leasing officer at GRIDSERVE, and in his role, he leads the team that places drivers into the right EV for them.

Jon, Rob and John discuss the ever-evolving world of EVs, address questions and answers around EV charging, EV ownership and usage, and debate the importance of EVs and the future outlook in comparison to the public perception only a decade ago. We also discuss the realms of the EVs' fun side, such as sports cars and motorbikes.

  • Ian Flux is a celebrated racing driver and, more so, a celebrated character in the motorsport world. He is famous for having more than a few brilliant stories, which is fitting because he's just written a book.

In this week's conversation with Miles Lacey and John Marcar, Ian shares just some of the hilarious, shocking and brutally honest stories that feature in his book... and a couple that don't! As a result, this podcast requires some listener discretion and is unsuitable for younger ears (or anyone who might be easily offended by crude humour!)

Henry's expertise has resulted in his work being seen in EVO Magazine, starting as a staff writer and later as Features Editor before jumping across DriveTribe as Features Editor for the then-new and exciting brand. Later in his career, Henry morphed over from staff roles to freelancing, resulting in his words and wisdom being enjoyed by automotive media consumers globally in huge outlets such as Hagerty.

  • This week on the Podcast, John Marcar and Miles Lacey explore a question that car and driving enthusiasts have been pondering for the past ~20 years... "What about Hydrogen?"

In this ever-changing automotive world, as we head towards the 2030 and 2035 I.C.E. ending deadlines, are we, as humanity, being foolish by putting all our eggs into one big electric basket?

For this week's conversation, we're joined by Hugo Spowers, the man behind Riversimple Movement LTD - a company that produces and runs cars powered exclusively by hydrogen. John and Miles, on the day of their visit, had the opportunity to learn more about the organisation, get up close and personal with the cars - and - have a drive themselves.

  • This week on the Podcast, John, Amy and Miles are in the studio together for a catch-up chat to find out what everyone has been up to for the past few weeks. John has been busy driving the Lotus Emira and a Dacia Sandero, and he's also been taking a brand new Ducati off-roading. Miles has strapped himself to a robot and had gone racing with some MG's, and Amy celebrates ten years of automotive photography by putting a motorcycle in her kitchen.

Also, in this week's episode, we address several listener's questions and talking topics, leading to John describing the perfect technique to pit-manoeuvre a middle lane driver*, Miles sharing a story of dramatic tummy troubles in Sweden and Amy almost getting arrested in Germany.

*We must insist that you please don't actually attempt to pit manoeuvre anyone anywhere under any circumstances. Obviously.

  • This week on The Driven Chat Podcast, Amy and John are joined for the second time by journalist, writer and automotive data analyst - John Mayhead.

John, whilst writing a story about high-speed runs for an editorial piece, stumbled upon an interesting character named Lieutenant-Colonel Alfred Thomas 'Goldie' Gardner. John discovered that Goldie was a man who not only set records but also had a pretty extensive and very interesting backstory. And so, the idea of writing the book was born.

In this week's podcast, John Mayhead talks to John Marcar and Amy Heynes to share some of his astonishing discoveries whilst writing the previously untold story of Goldie Garnder, which has become a new book available to purchase in bookshops or, online.

  • This week on the Podcast, Amy and John are joined in the Driven Studio by the very excellent Charlotte 'Charlie' Vowden.

Charlotte joins Amy and John this week to share the details of her new TV Show, The Repair Lot, which is available to watch on Dave or catch up on UKTV Play.

Before sharing the details of her new venture, Charlotte shares her fascinating backstory, which has led her to fronting an automotive TV show with some 'interesting' events as a junior in editorial roles for prominent newspapers in London. Charlotte's story transforms from a difficult start and challenging chapters to a great success story and (we think) the start of something even more incredible.
