A lot of questions we get from our customers before they purchase at Outdoor Legacy are related to the different styles and form factors of the optics that they’re looking at. Whether it’s the traditional thermal scope style versus the 30mm daytime scope design, binoculars versus binoculars or other design questions, it can be very confusing. Each design has different pros and cons and each is right for different applications and hunting needs. On this wee’s show, Hans and Jason dig into the different designs and styles of thermal optics and explain what works best for different situations.

Welcome back to this week's edition of The Late Night Vision Show. On this episode Hans and Jason dive into an extremely relevant and current topic of thermal resolution vs optical magnification. As thermal prices continue to drop and now more and more 640 high resolution scopes are moving into the sub-$3,000 price range, there is a rush for many hunters to jump at the chance to finally own a 640 scope at a much more affordable price. The problem is many do not realize how important the base or optical magnification of their scope is and they are buying high resolution scopes to get that better image quality they want but the scopes they are buying don't have the magnification they need. Why does that matter? They end up with a worse user experience than if they'd stuck to a lower resolution scope with the proper magnification for their needs. Confused yet? Listen in and Hans and Jason will explain this extremely important topic in more depth and simplicity. We want to help you not make this costly mistake.

Welcome back! One of our favorite style of shows to make is our "questions and answers" episodes where we answer questions that our viewers and listeners have sent in to us or questions that we hear repeatedly on phone conversations with our customers at Outdoor Legacy. We like addressing these things publicly to hopefully help our viewers that make have some of the same questions of their own. This week we talk about everything from daytime thermal use, tripods and rifle calibers. If you have questions you'd like to hear us talk about, please leave them in the comments and we'll try to include them on our next Q&A episode.

AGM continues to push forward in the thermal industry and not just improving upon their previous models but also bringing them to market at even better prices for hunters and shooters. The AGM Varmint LRF V2 TS35-640 and Varmint V2 TS50-640 are two great examples of this. By taking an already good scope, they improved them and lowered the price and still included all the great features we love like the laser range finder, 18650 batteries, American Defense mount, improved image quality and the list goes on. Check out this review to see if the Varmint V2 640's are right for your hunting needs.

But with a few months of field use under our belts with the RIX Storm S6, we felt no choice but to chose it as our favorite scope under $3,000 for 2024. At just $2,699 this small compact 2x magnification 640 scope is one heck of a great value for the close to mid range hunter.
