Comedian, writer and mental health advocate Ruby Wax is Rachel Fuller's guest for this week's episode of The Seekers podcast.
Ruby had a hugely successful TV career that spanned 25 years and is now a best-selling author and renowned mental health campaigner. She has a masters in mindfulness-based cognitive therapy from Oxford and has been awarded an OBE for her services to Mental Health. She has written many books about Mental Health and her latest is ‘I’m Not as well as I thought I was’ which tells the story of her recent mental breakdown and recovery.
After the covid lockdown Ruby started off on a series of extraordinary experiences to find meaning and purpose. This included living in a Christian Monastery, working in a refugee camp, swimming with whales and doing a 30 day silent retreat. But while she was doing her epic experiences she had a ‘mental car crash’ as she calls it and ended up in a mental institution for 3 weeks.

In this episode of The Seekers Rachel is joined by Nakhane, a South African singer, actor and writer, who brilliantly plays the part of Siddartha on the album The Seeker, Rachel's musical version of the classic book.
Nakhane also starred as Siddartha at the one-off special performance of The Seekers at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.

Rachel is joined by the captivating Norwegian singer-songwriter AURORA in this episode to talk about importance of art and music, her inspiration and creative process. Aurora is known for her love of nature and interest in religion and Greek mythology so it was fascinating to learn about her spiritualism.

Hot off the West End boards of 'Cabaret', Layton managed to squeeze in a fascinating conversation with Rachel about what he is searching for in life, his happy place and his fail safe mantra.
Layton is performing in the special one off concert performance of 'The Seeker', Rachel's musical interpretation of the novel Siddartha, at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane on November 6th. To kick off the series Rachel is joined by rock genius Pete Townshend, (who also happens to be her husband!) to talk about his spiritual journey.
Rachel is doing this podcast because she has composed a musical interpretation of the novel Siddhartha, which is being released this autumn with a beautiful graphic novel. Siddartha is the story of a young man’s journey of spiritual enlightenment, it was written by Herman Hesse in 1922 and has resonated with countless people across the world, to date it has sold over 100 million copies globally.
Rachel's musical reinvention of Siddartha is called The Seeker and in this podcast series she explores what we are seeking in today's world.
Listen to Rachel and Pete have a candid conversation about his upbringing, his beliefs on spirituality and where his place of sanctuary is nowadays.
