Kent and Karen are back from this episode continuing on with the topic of conflict resolution. They look at what it takes to lay down your own life for someone else, take ownership of your own hurts and wounds and ultimately come to a relationship selfless.
-
In today’s episode, Kent and Karen Bandy are talking about conflict resolution and triggers that can hit our wounds. If a trigger touches into old pain, then you’re bringing pain into the conversation that doesn’t belong there. A lot of conflicts you can get a good jump on if you can learn to appreciate the differences between you and your spouse, take responsibility for your own wounds and invite Jesus into the wounds.

This week Kent and Karen are looking at sacrificial love! We are all invited to love and when we're invited to love we're also generously given opportunities and the power of God upon us to love. It's an incredible opportunity! When we let Jesus love through us, relationships can go from zero to a thousand because it's the love of God working through us.
-
In this week's episode of The Simple Truth Kent and Karen discuss what to look for in a spouse, and build on their discussion from last week about calling within singleness.
-
In this week's episode, Kent and Karen pull from nearly 32 years of marriage and tackle the topic of singleness and calling. They look at key questions like: What does it look like to pay attention to the things God has established in your heart and pursue Him first? Why is it important to dedicate yourself to the Lord ahead of time, prior to marriage? And encourage you to begin cultivating your relationship with Jesus now! Whether you are single or not this episode will remind you how important it is to invest in your first love.

In this episode of The Simple Truth Kent Bandy, National Director of Ellel Ministries Canada looks at the word submission and helps us understand its role in marriage for both men and women. Looking at submission as a characteristic of a disciple of Jesus, Kent explains that the word doesn't have to hold the weight and "hurt" it has in the past, but instead be a beautiful invitation to lay down our lives for someone else. Cost speaks of sacrifice and risk speaks of vulnerability, in our relationship with God there’s both cost and risk, a lot of people get scared and pull back from the cost and risk in their relationship with God and play it safe. You’ll neutralize the power of the gospel in your life if you hold back to play it safe because you’re not trusting God. This then translates into our relationships and into your marriage.
Ellel Canada's Directors Kent and Karen Bandy unpack how trust in marriage can get broken and what it takes to begin to rebuild it. Every one of us has this dream that when we get married our spouse is going to love us, accept us and fill all the needs on the inside, we want that selfless unconditional love. Not that we're going to even give that kind of love, but we want to receive it. The ideal is that we would be affirming, honour, love, cherish, and in a sense feed each other's spirits in selflessness, however...sin. Sin has created this incredible selfish nature in us, and it impacts our relationship.
Ellel Canada's Directors Kent and Karen Bandy unpack how judgements and past hurts can cause us to view our spouse through a skewed lens, and cause wounds in our marriage. Our love needs should be met in God himself and then we come to our marriage, not perfect, but from a place of trying to give love, rather than get someone who’s going to complete me. In this episode Canadian National Director, Kent Bandy talks about the type of heart posture we want to have in our marriage and what we can ask for to help enable us to walk in a more selfless love. Action Steps:
1. Ask for the fear of the Lord. The last word on our life is going to be God’s, and it should be the fear of the Lord that protects our heart and navigates how we love our spouse.
2. Ask the Lord for the empowering of the Holy Spirit to live a loving life you can't live in your own strength.
