We brought back the confessional and we don't know who had more fails and funny moments this week - Bec or the parents sending in their stories!
Starting with a mom confession, we launch in with our weekly yay & nays - Bec yaying getting to go to the shops by herself for the first time in what feels like years, followed by a nay from the same trip with a major embarrassing toilet moment (and the kids weren't even there!). Sam's following up Easter being grateful for time with family and friends, while naying whatever was in the chocolate this year cos it hit our kids different this Easter!
We then share an ever growing list of reasons why pregnant moms have cried. Bec gets more than 1 story a day sent in, so we are sharing again some of the hilarious moments moms have on the wild ride that is pregnancy. We are talking crying over food, cats, arctic sharks, wiggle concerts and episodes of the office!
In the confessional this week we have 4 stories from parents that will remain anonymous, reminding us that we aren't the only ones who make mistakes or have moments that make us face palm. From almost forgetting a baby at the shops to giving up on pyjamas, pretend breastfeeding and running out of milk for cereal - these are moments that make us remember parenting is hard for everyone at one point or another.
We wrap up the show with two parent in the news stories (because it's one of Bec's favourites!), with an Easter out for any parents that may have forgotten the Easter bunny this year, and an unexpected new race to bet on for the dads - sperm racing.
Come back next week and make sure you send us your answers to the questions: What's your kid cried over, or what's the funniest thing they've said? Answers and laughs to come!

It's Easter time and we are celebrating with all the fun! Whacky traditions, Easter news stories and Easter eggs from Shrek!
Jumping in with some heavy chocolate research, we are looking at the chocolate stats for parents and how much Easter for 3 kids will cost across a lifetime.
We jump into yays and nays. A great day at the zoo, a clothes bag fail, cooler weather and snot all make the list.
The Easter traditions are something new parents are often thinking about - but you wouldn't guess some of these, with weird whips, butter lambs and rocketwars just to name a few...
Then we have parents in the news with more chocolate stories and a giant creme egg! Plus a very naughty Easter bunny.
Then we dive head first into the last of our Easter egg series with Shrek! From the sneaky stories from the animators to all the references and funny hidden signs - there's so many and we didn't even get them all!
Come back next week for more parent stories and laughs.

Laughing through funny parent news stories, messages from parents and a few Easter Eggs to a favourite movie for kids and parents!
Kicking off the show, Bec throws Sam the curly question the 6 year old tried asking in the car this week, before quickly jumping into the yays and nays.
Bec is yaying the cute words the 18 month old is coming out with (and YES of course we've included a little sound bite of 'sea horse'!), while naying the 3 year olds lack of personal boundaries.
Sam is naying being away for work and coming back to a baby who knows words (growing up while he is away!) and yaying a beautiful moment teaching the 6 year old to rollerskate (but we promise there was a tantrum thrown in - and that was just Bec).
We have 4 news stories this week in parents in the news, with a terrifying babysitter experience, a kid eating his grandfathers ashes, Easter potatoes and emotional support tigers.
Then we share some of the stories we've been getting in response to the last few episodes including: a hilarious typo sent in from a teacher, another teacher fail thanks to their mom, a kid telling on mom for not feeding him breakfast, a kid making phone calls and very public on-purpose tantrums.
This week's Easter Eggs is brought to you by Finding Nemo! Check out all the trivia and Finding Nemo Easter Eggs we found to share including a character voiced over by mistake, clown fish science, and references to the shining.
Let us know what you want to hear us find the Easter Eggs in next (we are thinking Shrek next week but happy to be overruled!).

Ready to laugh with us this week? From Bluey Easter eggs to school fails and tales - here's what's in this unhelpful parenting podcast episode!
Kicking off, we catch up with our weekly yays and nays. Sam jumps in first, because he's straight in with the meltdowns and our 1 year olds new tantrum phase, but yaying his birthday! Bec's yaying her newly discovered lip tint - a working moms dream of looking like lipstick but allowing you to smoosh your kids with kisses! Her nay trumps every other nay ever though, after waking up at 2am to being projectile vomited on her face by the 3 year old who clearly wasn't feeling well. Yay for #momlife.
We are sharing your funny school stories (and fails) this week in school fails and tales! Thank you to the teachers, parents and even kids sending in their stories. From gross show and tells, to bad spelling and even university student fails - we have a good laugh through this part of the show!
Then we are continuing our Easter Eggs leading up to Easter. Last week was Toystory, and this week we couldn't NOT do Bluey! With 11 Bluey facts and fun Easter Eggs you probably didn't notice (or maybe you did!), this is fun even for the not-so-Bluey lovers because the level of creativity from the production team is impressive!
Come back next week for more funny parent stories and make sure you're following us on socials to send us stories and share in the laughs!

This week's episode is PACKED full of laughs, confessions, parent news and Toy Story Easter Eggs!
Sam kicks off by sneaking in his dad jokes before Bec can protest. Then we talk yays and nays as we quickly catch up, talking changing shoe sizes during and after pregnancy, not being able to remember birthdays, and school cross country events.
The parenting confessional is back with three hilarious stories including hurtful kid comments, scarily stubborn kids and newborn tiredness (with a side of cheese!).
We've got parents in the news, and we're sorry parents but we've got bad news for you! Skibidi Toilet appears to be here to stay. But we bring some more laughs with a 10 year olds joy ride, taking the car out and pretending he was a dwarf to get out of trouble.
We are excited to introduce a new series this week called Easter Eggs. As we lead up to Easter, we are going through the Easter Eggs and hidden features of the movies and TV shows we know and love. Starting this week with Toy Story!!! We have references to the Shining, theories about Andy's mom and a few cool connected links to other movies. We also found a story about how we almost didn't get a Toy Story 2, and the files were saved ONLY because there was a working mom on set who had backups at home from juggling work with a newborn.
All this and so many more laughs in the podcast episode!
Help us reach more parents with laughs! Not only does it bring some joy to the parenting rollercoaster, but the more parents who listen, the more stories we get!
Come back next week for even more of the Unhelpful Parenting Podcast.

From last week's parents in trouble, we've now got kids calling emergency services on their parents!
Kicking off like we do every week with our yays and nays (and an extra banana whinge), Bec is yaying the recent morning role reversal where Sam is now responsible for lunch boxes and school uniforms. She's naying the need for parks with fences - is this something forgotten everywhere? Sam's got a double nay wishing for a day off, with a hilarious dad fail story.
Then we hit our first parents in the news story where a 4yo boy called the cops on his mom after she ate his icecream!
This led to us sharing the top 4 parent stories of kids calling emergency services that we've been sent - and there's been a few!
Then we stop back in at parents in the news for two dad stories - one an epic dad fail and another a beautiful dad of the year.
Make sure you're following us on socials to be a part of sending in stories, and to share the funniest bits with your mum friends and dad friends!

This week we are talking cyclones, trouble, and parenting news stories!
Kicking off with our yay and nay of the week, Bec talks about the deep and meaningful conversations we've been having with our 6-year-old (so beautiful) and then the hard-hitting questions (so not!). Then Sam talks about the cyclone that was meant to come but didn't - although having the kids homemade a cyclone in our house.
Sam's allowed one dad joke, which Bec quickly regrets and then we are into parents in the news.
We start off with an old story from 2021 that we were sent, where a carjacker returned when he discovered a child in the backseat, telling off the mum for leaving them alone. Then we are talking about a parasitic twin that Sam believes is fake - but the news story is as real as it gets!
We then go through the answers you sent in, to the question, 'What's your kid done that's got you in trouble?' and we have 3-year-olds lying to police, making public declarations, and a SWAT team mistakenly arriving at a dad's house!
We also draw the winner to our birthday giveaway - a big congratulations to the winner!
Have a laugh, like, share, rate, and review. Tell your parent friends about the podcast cos we will be back next week for more!

Welcome to all our mums and dads and new Bluey loving fans who've found us from our viral video last week! We must apologise to those left off the last episode (and Lin Manuel who's name Bec pronounced very poorly!), but we are back with all new stories and laughs this week!
Kicking off with our parent yays & nays for the week - Bec is yaying their first week of having a cleaner, and Sam is naying the fact that within half an hour the house was destroyed again. Bec's nay is the baby's emotional support dust pan (it makes sense) and Sam's yay is all the kids sleeping in one room, kind of.
Before we get into the episode, Bec has a mum question and is need of parent advice, which is really just grown-up advice. Cos how do you dispose of knives safely without being suspicious?
Then we've got the laughs with funny kids quotes, cos kids say the darndest things!
We've got two relatable parenting confessions that remind us there are no perfect kids or parents and you're doing great.
Finishing off with a parents in the news story, with an awkward situation from mixed-up fortune cookies and some offensive (but funny!) cookies.
Laugh with us, subscribe to YouTube, or like and show some love to the podcast wherever you're listening & share this with your friends!

This episode is packed full of laughs and stories for parents in the thick of parenting (or anyone needing a laugh).
We catch up with our yays and nays - both yaying the cute kids that had a kind moment of sharing and are sleeping better. Our nays we are saving for the confessional, because one of the stories sent in is a reflection of our lives right now!
Into parents in the news and we've got two older stories, but they are good ones!
There's the mom who accidentally invited all her 487 phone contacts to her daughter's first birthday, and another who accidentally left her hand-gun in her daughter's lunchbox at daycare.
We've also got some random facts where Bec shares the list of celebrities in Bluey that she found! Did you know all these celebs made cameos in Bluey?
Then we hit the confessional - with the first story about a parent sending their kids to school with NITS! This is our nay because we've had nits all week - so if you're scratching just hearing about it, then think of us!! All the washing and brushing and treatments have Bec reminding Sam that she stands by the episode where they did 'would you rather' and she argued rathering a few days of gastro over head lice that never go away!
We've got other confessions with kids blurting out hilarious comments like 'look at the boobies!' and 'I made friends with a black one', and then a near-miss Home Alone moment.
If you've got funny stories, we want to hear them! It goes a long way to making parents laugh and feel normal when the poo hits the fan (literally in some cases)!

This unhelpful parenting podcast is FULL of funny stories, lies your kids have told and confessions!
First we start with our weekly yays & nays, and parenting has hit us hard this week!
Bec's yay: The hilarious moment in the butcher where the 3 year old couldn't work out where the animals were...
Bec's nay: The wheels have fallen off this year. It's week 3 of school and we are ordering tuckshop and forgetting library books.
Sam's yay: cute kids wanting to live with us forever...
Sam's nay: the 3yo's meltdown at swimming over new pants!
We've got 2 quick stories for parents in the news this week - with the random off beat news stories only parents can really relate to! We've got:
- A Doogie Howser 13 year old impersonating a doctor
- A seal caught sleeping in a hotel room (just like our kids appearing in our bed!)
Then we are into the answers parents sent in (mostly on social media( to the question: what's the funniest lie your kid has told?
There's kids making up whole new families, getting parents in trouble at school, bitcoin mining and blaming other people (or elephants!) for their behaviour.
Then we are into the confessional - following up a story from the last parenting confession and addressing the keyboard warriors who just don't understand parenting! We've got parents who dismissed major injuries because they thought kids were faking (and feel TERRIBLE!), and parents at the opposite end who tried to follow up an injury only to find 6 weeks in their kid was faking it perfectly.
If you've had a fail, and gotten it wrong - you aren't alone! So long as we are trying and doing our best to love our kids - sometimes you need to remember there's no perfect parents and no one gets it right every time! #PARENTINGSUPPORT

Get ready to laugh at odd parent news stories, celeb baby names and a few dad jokes thrown in!
This week we catch up a little with our yay and nays...
Bec is yaying still being on top of things for school (it's week 2!), but naying the sticker pack presents cos they are everywhere!
Sam is yaying moving the kids back to their own rooms, while naying how quickly they ended up in our beds!
He has a few inappropriate dad jokes as always and then we are into parents in the news!
We have two fun parenting stories this week, with a library book returned after 5p years, and 14 kids going to hospital thanks to a bag of chips!
Then we laugh out way through some celeb baby names - not all the ones from episode 7 - but the long long lists from celebs who obviously had trouble choosing just one!!! If you're having trouble choosing a baby name...this won't help haha
Laugh with us through the parenting trenches, like and subscribe on YouTube, or rate/review and share from wherever you're listening to help us spread the parenting joy!

Get ready to laugh with us this week as we bring back some old faithful parenting podcast segments (aka. they're hilarious!). We've got parent news and the parenting confessional packed with laughs!
We kick off as usual with our yays & nays...
Becs yay: finally started herself an Insta account (@call.me.bec.rogers)
Becs yay 2: So proud of Mackenzie, being so brave on her first day of grade 1
Sam's yay: cute baby dates and one-on-one dad time
Sam's nay: poop on the carpet
Sam then gets in with some questionable and inappropriate dad jokes (sorry mum!) and then we are in on parents in the news...
We have two parents in the news stories - covering the off-beat, funny news that hits home for parents. This week we are sharing stories about:
1. Krispy Kreme free donuts for a family after baby is born in their carpark
2. Stripe accidentally attaches a kids picture of a duck on a termination email letting go of 300 staff.
We touch on Sam's upcoming punishment for his bad dad joke mix-up (send in your ideas if you want to be involved! So far Bec's idea involves an elephant costume...)
Then we've got the parenting confessional and these parents sent in their stories so you know you aren't alone when you stuff up!
We've got parents ignoring major injuries thinking they're faking it, destroying beloved toys, telling fibs to make it through the shopping, and slapping their kid thinking they were fake fainting... except they weren't faking it!
If you've had a bad week, messed up, or have no idea what you're doing while you're parenting - you're in good company with us. We may not be the best parenting channel for parenting advice, but we try to be the best at making you laugh and making you feel like you're not the only one in these trenches!

Hilarious reasons pregnant mums have cried, the weirdest cravings, a few dad jokes and Sam has to be on his best behaviour or he's drinking hot sauce and sucking lemons!
This new parenting podcast episode is full of fun and laughs for parents of all ages and stages.
Sam & Bec kick off the podcast the way they do most weeks with their parenting yays or nays. Bec's in with 2 nays because one is an embarassing story and has to count. Sam makes comment of the parenting energy load and how much it sucks at this time of year when everyone is at peak motivation, setting goals and full of morale.
Sam adds in some theme-relevant dad jokes for this episode and then Bec spills the surprise she's been preparing for this episode.
Because this episode is all about pregnancy cravings and what pregnant moms have cried about - Sam has no empathy or ability to relate. To keep him on his best behaviour - any judgement or mean comments (including his usual sarcastic sense of humor) will result in him having to take a spoonful of extra hot sauce, or sucking on a lemon.
It makes for an extra hilarious list, with more than 17 pregnancy cravings and 21 reasons mums have cried while pregnant. He even self-selects the punishment for some that are so outrageous he knows he has to comment (not that he can do that well with the hot sauce kicking him in the throat!).
Bec then remembers how mean he'd been the week before (yes - calling her an elephant!!) and that he promised to make it up to her - so the call is out to send in your punishment/make up ideas. Does Sam have to do a month of nappies, or wax a leg, or eat even more hot sauce? Send in your ideas and come back next week as we plot Bec's revenge!

We’re back!!! The 2025 Unhelpful Parenting Podcast is here – back from holidays with an episode full of fun and laughs! Talking parent news and the worst parenting advice you’ve received!
Here’s what’s coming up:
First, we do a mini-catch up on holidays – and what vacation with kids can be like (anyone else more exhausted afterwards?!) and Bec shares a funny dad story of Sam’s.
Sam jumps in with a few dad jokes to kick off the year – but accidentally has the unbelievable moment of not only putting his foot in his mouth – but making the worst husband comment ever that has landed him in the dog house for eternity…(well, for now).
He quickly tries to change the subject and we are back with parents in the news (that he likes to call ‘random ass facts by Bec’) where we share the funny stories from the news that are related to parent life – but also wouldn’t be the typical news headlines you’d normally find.
This week the parent news includes Jelly Cats at the centre of a crime spree (and organised crime!) and googly eye trains and googly eyes on sculptures!
Then we share the answers you sent in to the question: What’s the worst parenting advice you’ve ever received?
To preface, we did not expect so many hotly debated topics (although we probably should have!), and have kept away from parenting advice about discipline styles, vaccinations and other hot topics like religion (remember- we are here to make you laugh and NOT be helpful!).
So while we try and keep the comedy train going and laughing through the bad parenting advice – we share some of the 250+ responses we were sent in!
The call is out there for the next episode where we will share the funniest things pregnant moms have cried over – and the random pregnancy cravings they’ve had (Dad’s and partners you can still share too!).

We are still on holidays but here's another shorter episode to keep the laughs rolling in the new year til we are back with full length episodes!
We have two parents in the news stories - talking about the very popular liquid death adult diapers taking concert goers by storm (selling out in 24hrs!), and a hilarious story from a Christmas pageant from over the holiday season ft. Mary putting a sheep in a headlock over baby Jesus.
Then we have a quick round of fact or crap - parenting edition. We're talking gender reveal fails (and how far is too far?), questionable tomato facts, middle ages parenting, and some even more questionable parenting beliefs of the 19th and 20th centuries.
If you love to laugh and need some more of it as a parent in the trenches - then make sure you subscribe and follow us for more. And tell your mum friends and dad friends who just need a laugh and need to know they're not alone.

Kicking off 2025 with a parenting bang! Sending you this while we are on holidays - so it's a short speed round from us with dad jokes and babysitting fails to keep you laughing into the new year through your parenting experience.
Starting with New Year's themed dad jokes to unhelp your goal setting this year ;)
Then we share a list of babysitter fail stories from parents online - because this is the time of year when you're getting sitters for the Christmas and New Year's parties and sometimes they get a bit in over their heads (or the kids throw them the curve balls!).
Stories include:
- mixing up juice with wine and a drunk toddler!
- a prosthetic eye falling out
- sneaky kids making contracts for later bed times
- kids repeating dad's comments ft. 'I hate this $#!@'
- a poo party (again)
- spicy enchiladas
- a disappearing (rolling) baby
- red bull and a 2 year old!
Have a laugh with us and join us on socials for more. Share with your friends and family and help us make more parents laugh!

Strap in as we go over 2024, pulling out some of our favourite parent stories, confessions, fails and funny moments. If you’re anything like us, you may have forgotten a lot of these, so welcome to the greatest hits!
Keeping it short and sweet, we’ll keep you laughing this holiday season – regardless of what parenting or child disasters you’ve faced!
First we bring back some of the Christmas stories that were shared earlier in the year that missed the December episodes – with sweet Christmas present moments turned insulting and eggnog drunk kids.
Then we chat briefly about some of the things this year has taught us (aka. We promise to never again do a poop-focused episode! And you’ll always get a Santa warning).
Then we revisit our top 3 stories.
Bec’s top 3:
- How are babies made? (from episode 1)
- Run away toddler found in handcuffs (from episode 2)
- Greeting the door knocker with a boob out (from episode 5)
Sam’s top 3:
- Wiggles turned beatles – and finding out 13 years later at a Paul McCartney concert! (from episode 8)
- 3 major disasters at once – blood, flood and poo! (from episode 3)
- Toilet training compliments to a dad from a son. (from episode 15)
Plus if you’re looking for more banger episodes, here are a few favourites:
- Episode 6 – the first from the mouth of babes episode (including ‘your next trip can be to heaven’)
- Episode 9 – the first school fails and tales episode (with 3 of our most viral parenting video clips from socials)
- Episode 12 – The great parent debate – was 90s kids shows better than todays? A great walk down memory lane for millennial parents.

This week we are following up the Christmas fails episode with a couple more stories and then the stories you sent about your holiday and vacation travels with kids!
First we catch up with...
Bec's yay: kids being cute dressing themselves
Bec's nay: surprise haircuts
Sam's yay: cute kids again but this one wants a baby T-Rex
Sam's nay: all the 'stuff' at Christmas
Sam gives us a Christmas gift... In dad jokes he thinks are hilarious.
Bec brings back parents in the news - with fun stories we've found from around the world that us parents appreciate more than most.
We've got a personal follow-up from the killer hamster story, a toilet interruption from a tiger (but all moms can relate), a reverend ruining Christmas for a room of 10yos, and a criminal imitating Santa and trying to hide down a chimney.
Then we've got some Christmas followups from last week with a Santa biter and a kid putting Santa on a diet!
But the piece de resistance is the fail stories sent in by parents from their holiday travels.
We've got the sickness stories, the plane and airport fails, and a swimming nappy dad fail.
Make sure you comment and weigh in on whether a baby (who of course cries the whole way) in business class is a yay or a nay...
Stay tuned for some shorter episodes but we will be back over the Christmas break to keep you laughing through your parent journey.

It's CHRISTMAS TIME! And we are getting into the season by sharing the funniest stories we got sent about Christmas from parents! Get ready to laugh through these fails and funny parent stories - cos Christmas is one of those times when even the best parenting intentions can go sideways!
We kick off the episode with some yays and nays of our week including...
Bec's yay: day time naps that were underrated pre-kids
Bec's nay: having a child that has the same stubborn streak as her
Sam's yay: all the sleep-ins he gets while travelling
Sam's nay: sitting through graduation ceremonies for every year level
Sam's Christmas dad jokes give us a little laugh before heading into the main event - the funny Christmas stories!
We asked 'what's the fails or funniest stories from Christmases past'... and these ones are some the families will never forget!
We have...
1. Rollerblading dad breaking his pelvis
2. A bad gift from a mother-in-law
3. Santa getting the credit for all the presents
4. Mom caught tipping out Santa's milk...
5. Dad dressed up as Santa mistaken for an intruder
6. Trying to make snow in North QLD
7. A terrible scavenger hunt present disaster
8. The cutest tree decoration story
9. A midnight present unwrapping
10. Presents falling apart after a little too much beer...
11. A transformers present (or part of it...)
12. Kids thinking they just saw Santa drown!
If your Christmas doesn't quite go to plan - you are in great company with these parents! We don't come with any helpful advice - but we come with parental encouragement because the chaos that sometimes gets you down happens to all of us from time to time!
