¡Ven y únete a nuestro círculo!

We explore an intense feeling of presence, joy and love that I experienced in a premonitory dream, revealing hope for the future and the eternal renewal of life.
The Medicine Wheel will reveal its power as we advance throughout its axis and spokes, and I provide some of my research findings.
We are led back to the Medicine Wheel by Eagle/Walking Turtle's wisdom about the Indians of the Great Plains, contained in his book, Indian America. We are led to honor Mother Earth, Sister Turtle and Brother Frog, the 4th, 5th and 6th stations in the Great Hoop.
The concept of approaching issues and life's problems by dividing them into fours, exemplified by the quarters of the Wheel, provides a tool for us all to contemplate the many sides of any issue, and the revelatory position that allows us to reconcile what seem like opposing forces or ideas. Come join the Circle!

We begin a special collection of Indigenous voices, stories and ideas carefully curated to entertaing and educate during this uniquely hot summer. In order to establish a bridge to the experiences of the Incas, we begin by listening to Eagle/Walking Turtle as he describes the dislocation the Native People of this land we now call the United States experienced when Europeans arrived, and he invites us to explore their contemporary descendants in the introduction to his book, Indian America. He also introduces us to the concept of the Medicine Wheel, central to the ideas and values of his people.
As we progress in this season, I will lead you to visit all 36 stations of the Medicine Wheel throughtout the summer.
We will visit 3 stations of the 36 in every episode, in order to allow time for reflection.
In each episode, we will also listen to a story from one of the many peoples who were the original inhabitants of many different corners of America, from lands as distant as Alaska to the southernmost tip, La tierra del Fuego.
Do join our unique adventure, and gather some Victorias Amazonicas to cherish.

-
As I begin my 8th season, I return to the Why, the What, the reasons why Victoria Amazonica exists as a bilingual storytelling experiment. I return to the beginning, literally and figuratively, and I insist on asking hard questions. Are we each a bloom, a petal, A peduncule, a petiole, or a pedicel,
a branch, a trunk, a leaf? Life insists on asking daily; will you choose to connect, illuminate, enhance, guide or choose to grow the darkness, the despair, the urge to surrender? Join our ongoing adventures in the Emerald Forest and continue to discover nature's answers to humanity's most pressing inquiries.

-
We reach the conclusion of the convoluted story of the Fall of the Inca empire, which we have been following in Loren McIntyre’s powerful book; The Incredible Incas and their Timeless Land.
As I thought about the betrayals, murders, opposing forces and interests which were at play as this extraordinary civilization was broken into severed fragments, the image of a broken mirror stayed in my mind.
We need those broken mirrors, however convenient it might seem to simply sweep up the pieces and throw them away. They beg for attention and most of all, curious, ingenious eyes.
A broken mirror is still a mirror, and its brokenness offers no option but to embrace the diversity and multiplying power of its many, disparate parts.
Dedicated to all Mothers, wishing we sincerely celebrate the many ways in which they are sacred seeds that carry, tend and perpetuate life.

-
In honor of Earth Day, we take a break from the chronicles about the Inca Empire conquest. Instead, I honor and revisit Silent Spring, Rachel Carson's groundbreaking book which ignited the environmental conscience of humanity.
Also, inspired by a parallel that occured to me as I watched "The 3 Body Problem", a contemporary tale about an alien invasion and humanity's struggle to hold on to science and our Home, I propose a renewed commitment to hold on to Wonder and Humility; focused on the realization that Silent Spring continues to whisper: In Nature, Nothing exists Alone.

-
We are exploring darkness and then, the return of the light, which many of us witnessed recently.
Imagine what the destruction of their empire meant to the Incas, the total extinction of their light. I think that for almost a month, my heart and my brain have been trying, desperately, to understand what this series of losses might mean to a people; any collective, and as usual, my dreams enlightened my path. We go through the painful narration of the gradual decimation of the Inca's empire. The rays of light sometimes seem feeble when the darkness is overwhelming, yet that's when those glimmers dazzle with their beauty and power. We each can be an individual lighthouse and contribute in order to defeat the shadows.

-
We will follow the narrative of the conquest of the Incas perpetrated by the Spaniards, led by those who felt they were sons of noone or nothing, who left their lands, inspired by the tales of knights who achieved glory and wealth in fantastical lands, myths which fed their thirst for gold, for blood, for power.
Five Centuries, The Same, a song I have always loved, will open and close this tragic chapter; I voice it bilingually hoping it may help us comprehend these complex ideas and approach, with open hearts and minds, the cycles of human behavior and the repetitive nature of history.

-
The aroma of lilies started this journey of remembrance of a time during which I felt that life was kissing me on the lips, and offering me and my family a chance at forgiveness, by enacting the beautiful ritual of Ho'oponopono, letting go of resentment and setting the balance of our world right again. The chapter we explore of the Incredible Incas, Loren McIntyre's powerful little red book, is precisely titled The War Between Brothers, and that feud was what resulted in the Inca Empire being particularly vulnerable as the Spaniards arrived.
Each one of us can choose to feed the soul of the world hope or instead, feed the fires of self-interest and mutually assured destruction.

-
I begin by recounting how a random encounter I had as a child led me to label and realize the power of Meditation, which I had discovered by myself spontaneously. That conversation revolved around using a flame as the centering visual to focus energy and attention. We go back to the High Andes to learn more about the dynasty of the Incredible Incas and we meet Tupa Inca, The Unforgettable Emperor. I conclude with a return to the initial reflection, by introducing the topic of Yearning and I invite you to sit by a candle and ponder about your own deep desires and longings.

We are free to select where we focus our attention, as I explored last week, but we also have the power to develop our ability to inhabit another's reality so as to generate antivenins for the soul. I tell you how I learned about antivenins, in the Amazon Rainforest, and how I transformed the concept so as to apply it to a human capacity. I share some of my most reliable sources of antivenins for the soul; refreshing my connections to those who I love and continually learn from, and my passion to study the past, to read reliable, original sources of stories about different cultures and the past so as to listen to other voices and then I may share diverse stories. We continue to explore Loren McIntyre's The Incredible Incas. Learning about their kingdom allows us to glimpse into the many ways in which we often have arbitrarily discarded sources of extraordinary wisdom and other models of existence.
