More doctors are now choosing to work in team settings, a move away from traditional notions of primary care. This means some Canadians are fortunate enough to have direct access to a team of health care professionals. Episode 3 follows the story of a case counsellor who has recently joined a clinic of family doctors and specialists. By working together, they are able to effectively and appropriately address both the medical and social concerns faced by their patients.

Episode 2 shares powerful stories about three kindergarten students from a remarkable elementary school: Jay, Vee and Em. The school staff are working hard to ensure their students have the specific tools they require for optimum learning. Sometimes this means books to read, art supplies to draw with, soft mats to sit and dance on, or worms to examine and study. But at other times, this might mean new glasses, education about nutritional food, or a visit to a child psychiatrist.

Marginalized individuals in Toronto experience a poverty of people they trust. This poverty causes isolation and their health deteriorates. Sadly, many enter the health care system in crisis. Episode 1 begins with Elle, a woman in her early 60s living alone in Toronto. Her story shows how small things, like having a one-on-one conversation with an individual, or remembering someone’s name, can help build trust.
