On this episode of the #TheDojo we are joined by the very talented young OG in the South African Hip Hop scene, Maggz. We start things off with shooting the shits with MA double and get his opinion on Shimza's utterances that hip hop in SA is dead. We discuss some hip hop artists jumping on the Amapiano genre and appearing to just be riding on the band wagon. We lament government's support of artists and the favouritism that is apparent with regards to whose initiatives get funded and supported by government. We ponder the pitting of artist against each other in relation to the comparison of Kamo Mphela and Babes Wodumo's careers. We touch briefly on Aka's career and how he's been able to keep himself relevant in light of his recent release with Costa Titch. We ask Maggz if he would take the dinner with Jay Z or 500k. Maggz recounts the end of Glitz Gang and what led to the relationship breakdown between himself and Bongani Fassie. We speak on the business of hip hop and having the right team.
We round out the Pod by delving into Maggz's career and giving him his flowers.

In this week's episode, we learn about Plato's "Symposium", which you might think of as philosophy's version of fan fiction. We also learn about Plato's "Theory of Forms" and ask ourselves what makes a tree, well, a tree. This leads to discussion of Plato's famous "Allegory of the Cave" and calls into question whether or not everything we see is merely a shadow of its true self. Finally, we learn about Plato's views on society and government and why he thought democracy was one of the worst forms of government, second only to tyranny.

This week’s episode of Žižek and So On, includes an interview with Slavoj himself, conducted on February 1st of this year. In the interview Žižek parses out what he calls the “post-modern deadlock.” This theoretical and political impasse, specific to the epoch of post modernism, is the product of a tension between what he identifies as the broad realist approach and the transcendental. In exploring this deadlock, Žižek speaks about the limits of Marx’s historical materialism, Judith Butler’s gender theory, and Lacanian psychoanalysis, each as separate examples of transhistorical ontology. Beyond this impasse, and in response to the current global situation, Žižek proposes historicizing historicism, in the practice of Hegel, so that we might see the emergence of an immanent, yet entirely new version of utopia, and that in the event of the catastrophic, there is something at work which is both potentially emancipatory, and universal.

On this episode of #TheDojo in Modise's absence we are joined by PowerFM's very own Mpumi Mlambo. The lovely Mpumi leads us into a conversation around brands and gatekeepers endorsing and putting on up-n-coming talent late. We move on to discuss the conversations that emanated from the launch of the kettle brand "Zuluish", we look at polarizing brand names, the business models at play and the hard level of criticism South Africans subject each other. We segue into a conversation about the fascination with outing people for wearing fake luxury clothes. We ponder on a listener given question of whether there is a difference in a difficult vs strong woman. We briefly touch on traveling in light of the holiday destination hate Khuli Chana and his wife got for their trip to Maldives during the week. Dating within your self esteem. We round off the Pod by asking if sex on the first date can ruin the potential of a relationship.
