  • What makes you a heretic? Journalist Andrew Gold believes that, in an age of group-think and tribes, we need heretics - those who use unconventional wisdom to speak out against their own groups, from cancelled comedians and radical feminists to cult defectors and vigilantes hunting deviants.

Learn from my guests how to rebel, think differently and resist social contagion. From Triggernometry's Francis Foster and the world's most cancelled man Graham Linehan to ex-Hasidic Jew Julia Haart and gender critical atheist Richard Dawkins. These are the people living with the weight of their own community's disappointment on their shoulders.

  • Discovering Our Scars Podcast is all about one thing: honest conversations. Steph and Beth talk about things that make most people uncomfortable (religion, mental illness, sexual abuse, and more). Steph and Beth became friends when they poured their hearts out in a 12-Step recovery small group. Neither was dealing with addiction—but both had hurts, habits, and hang-ups they needed to address. Steph’s journey is detailed in her book, Discovering My Scars, and that’s the inspiration for the podcast. While the podcast is inspired by Steph’s book, the hosts expand on subjects that make each person unique. The mission of the podcast is to help people embrace the “embarrassing” parts of their lives and learn to love and value all of themselves. On the podcast, the hosts share their own experiences and invite guests to broaden the conversation by contributing their own wisdom. As in Steph’s book, the podcast does not “tell you what to do,” rather, it has the ability to inspire people through the hosts’ honest and heartfelt approach.Podcast website: dospod.us

  • Educational, motivational and conversational! Functional and Integrative healthcare providers diving deep into the latest in integrative healthcare and pushing listeners to build the best and most fulfilling version of themselves "their Ultimate Self". Special guests along the way to share their unique stories in health, business and self-development, their ups and downs and their pursuit of their vision and mission.

This podcast was motivated by over a decade of patients telling and encouraging us to record our conversations and perspectives on various health subjects. For years we kept talking about needing to do it and finally after kicking the can down the road long enough we launched our podcast in January of 2023. Over the years, we would have conversations over the phone on our commute home. We would talk about the various things we would see in our office that day, discuss all the potential complexities of a case, the patient history that was missed from other providers. This would eventually lead to us ranting and going on and ultimately passionately discussing and advocating for a better path going forward for those patients. We would often end those calls saying that we should have recorded that! These conversations and our daily strive to help educate and empower our patients and community made this launch into a podcast not only make sense but ultimately inevitable.

We pride ourselves on fighting for patients to get better care, better answers and empowering them to take control of their health and life. This podcast is an extension of this wider push for empowering more people through education and asking for nothing in return (well maybe a share and pass long to those who would benefit from listening).

In the world of functional and integrative health there are varying shades or providers. The hope is our podcast will help listeners be better interviewers of providers out there and weed out the ones that like the sound of being an "integrative/Functional provider" but are still practicing an outdated, protocol driven and non specific model of healthcare. The world of chronic disease is growing by the minute and more and more are being impacted by chronic conditions and need providers who are willing to listen, dig deep, be humble and be willing to put the patient first above all else to figure out why the individual is where they are.

We found our way into the functional health world first with functional neurology and becoming experts in brain and neurological health. Quickly into this journey you realize the brain can not thrive without proper metabolic and cell health, Immune and cardiac function and optimal biochemistry...ultimately leading us to layer both functional and integrative medicine and functional neurology into our clinical approach. If you are going to retrain and rehab the brain you better home you can fuel it and feed it to see the best outcomes for neuroplasticity.

Our episodes are going to span across any and every top we can imagine. From mitochondrial health, anti-aging, functional medicine, functional neurology, concussion care and post concussion syndrome to mast cell activation, auto immune disease, weight gain and metabolic disease to name a few. Over the years we have been blessed to meet and work with incredible individuals and we will invite them on to share their perspective....From former pro athlete to business owner to author to renowned educator in the field, we plan to touch on it all.

We hope you enjoy our shows and discussions on functional and integrative health and we hope it can help serve you in becoming your best and strongest version of yourself. Please join in our mission to help educate and empower and ultimately force a new standard in healthcare that is about patient-centered care targeting the cause and not the symptom(s). Please share far and wide and join our mission!

  • The question of "what to eat" can feel endlessly confusing, especially when we contend with our own deeply ingrained beliefs and stories around food. Blame social media, the headline news, and let's not get started on family influences. Passed down from generations of women and men to their daughters, it's no wonder women are so baffled about how to stay healthy the older we get.

As a nutritionist and healthy eating chef, combined with her own personal and professional experience, Heather Carey has been connected to years of stories related to diets, weight loss, food fads, staying healthy, cooking well, and eating well. Beliefs around food start the day we try our first vegetables as babies and get solidified through our families, cultures, and messages we receive throughout our lifetime.

We have the power to call out our food beliefs so we can finally make peace with what we eat and get on with enjoying the real food and lives we deserve. Listen in to find out how to have your own happy ending to your real food story. Connect with Heather at [email protected] or visit her website at www.heathercarey.com or www.greenpalettekitchen.com
