Karl Horak replied to the question of how they are celebrating Celtic culture through music: "Corned beef, veggies, Irish cheese, homemade spotted dog, washed down with Guinness, of course."
Scot sent a photo: "Shades of Green on their 6th and final performance of the St. Patrick’s Day weekend. This was at Jerzee’s in Glenside to a packed house. Our absolute favorite time of year. My favorite moment was right after we finished….a gent from Ireland came up to me, thanked me/us for bringing such joy all around and working so hard….and he wanted to give a little back. He then took my hand and sang a Gaelic song to me. It was moving. Nothing like the Irish spirit to lift you up. Thanks for keeping the spirit alive brother."

Here is a pic of myself (accordion), my sister Lilly Cart (bodrhan), and my 3rd cousin Heather MacIsaac performing a concert of Irish songs and tunes at the Antigonish Heritage Museum, the former train station in my hometown. ABOUT THE NEW ADS IN THE PUBLIC FEEDIf you’ve been listening to the show over the last couple of weeks, you will have noticed something new to the show. Ads placed at the beginning and ending of each episode. The show has been published regularly for almost 19 years with very few ads, outside of those for my Celtic Invasion Vacations and Patreon.
I’ll be honest. I’m not a huge fan of advertising…or corporations in general. And I’m still deciding whether I’m gonna continue having ads in the show.
The fact is that this podcast costs a decent amount to produce as I’ll tell you about later. We’ve built something incredible here. We have a large number of Patrons of the Podcast who support this show each and every week. It’s mind - blowing the amount of support this show gets.
But it doesn’t cover all of my expenses. And there’s so much more I’d like to do to reach more Celtic music fans, which requires money. This would be one way to help us grow our podcast.
So if you don’t like those ads, please become a Patron of the Podcast, because they are not included in any of the Patreon shows.
THANK YOU PATRONS OF THE PODCAST!You are amazing. It is because of your generosity that you get to hear so much great Celtic music each and every week.
Your kindness pays for our engineer, graphic designer, Celtic Music Magazine editor, promotion of the podcast, and allows me to buy the music I play here. It also pays for my time creating the show each and every week.
As a patron, you get music - only episodes before regular listeners, vote in the Celtic Top 20, stand - alone stories, and you get a private feed to listen to the show. You get it all, without those ads at the beginning and end of the regular episodes. All that for as little as $1 per episode.

Sherron Sloan emailed a photo from St Augustine Celtic Festival: "Marc, you've got to check out the St. Augustine Celtic festival sometime. That's where I first heard the Gothard sisters! It is such a fun weekend."
Ryan Weyls emailed some photos: "Hi Marc, I've attached photos from a pair of shows I went to this weekend:
Dàimh at the Town Crier in Beacon, NY and Derek Warfield and the Young Wolfe Tones at the Rambling House in the Bronx. The lighting at Rambling House was a bit harsh and didn't agree with my phone, so I've only included two photos. Both bands sounded excellent. I might be checking out the other version of the Wolfe Tones (the one led by Derek's brother) later this week and will send photos if I make it. Thanks for your wonderful podcast.
Tim Hughes emailed photos from the Madison WI Shamrock Shuffle: "Had to listen to I&CMP during the run! Before and after pictures."

James OConnor emailed: "Jim from Boston Blackthorne here. St Patricks week will be a fun one for us with a little festival in Northampton MA on March 9 then on the 15th we are opening for the Dublin City Ramblers at the Colony Theatre in Woodstock NY. Next night in the Berkshires at the Heritage House in Lenox MA. We end the season as usual at Brennan’s on the Holyoke Parade route with all 5 original members for our 20th year!
Hope you have a wonderful month and thanks for all you have done for Boston Blackthorne!"
Darin Wallace emailed: "Hi Marc! And an early Happy Birthday to you! ☘️
Stout Pounders is my band and you know us. We will be celebrating by playing several gigs, starting with a show on March 10 in Spokane, WA at the Knitting Factory with the legendary Young Dubliners. So if you could add one of our songs and one of theirs to your podcast list that would be great!!! We have a newer live album streaming on all major platforms that I submitted to you a little while ago, but anything you like of ours is fine by me.
We will also be Headlining a show March 14 at the Spanish Ballroom at the McMenamins Elk Temple location in Tacoma with an opening band called Slainte and accompanied by the Seattle Irish Dance Company who will be dancing throughout the evening to the band's songs and in between. Will be a heck of a Pre - Paddy's Party.
We play Shawn O'Donnell's Everett location on Friday the 15th, The Blarney Stone Pub in Seattle on the 16th, and March 17 THE BIG DAY we are the band for the 40th Anniversary of Seattle's longest running (pun intended) 5K St. Paddy's Day Dash. The later that day back at O'Donnell's in Everett to cap off the day and week of fun.
Hope yours is a good one too! Thanks for all you do for us Indy Celts!"

Email me at follow@bestcelticmusic.Ben Doran messaged on Facebook: “When I received the "music only version" of the "The Gaelic Blessing" podcast, I was immediately reminded of one of the most moving arrangements of The Irish Blessing that I have heard - - by Bill O'Connor and Larry Theiss on their – "Traditional And Original" recording.
I am getting ready to have a day off tomorrow and will get to chores and baking for the "Wild Hog in the Woods" usual Friday night concert that we host at a neighborhood center here in Madison. While I am mixing and baking, I'll surely/certainly listen to that "Gaelic Blessing" program in its entirety. Thanks!”
Ryan S. emailed some photos: "Hi Marc. I love the Celtic Women episodes!!
I am currently building trails outside of austin while I listen to the cast.the spring flowers are already out!"
Shel O'Toole emailed a photo: "Hi Marc, As I'm listening today I'm promoting the International Women's Day event I organised for the Ballarat and District Irish Association. The all women trio I play with, Skedaddle is performing on the day. I'm also looking at ways to promote my newly released poetry book Wildsong. I'll be officially launching it at the IWD lunch.
I'm loving the Celtic Women special. There's so many fabulous Irish women singers and musicians. Noirin Ni Rian, the sean - ós singer and chanter, Sandra Joyce singer and bodhran player are two amazing teachers I met at the Irish World Music Summer School - Blas, many years ago. Niamh Parsons & Delores Keane are firm favourites & I love discovering new female artists.
I'll probably go to a session on St Patrick's day and there's a band playing at one of the Irish pubs in the evening I want to see. Sliánte"

But later this year, I schedule a brand new Celtic Invasion of Scotland’s Whisky distilleries. We’re gonna travel to Scotland, taste whisky, go for a hike through glorious Scottish countryside, then taste more whisky and do it all over, mixed in with some incredible food and a ton of fun.
I need 6 people to make this trip happen. If you’re interested in joining the invasion, sign up to our mailing list at http://celticinvasion.com/

Christopher Fennell replied to my Re: Happy St Patrick's Month Feedback Request: "Hi Marc, I love your podcast! I'm celebrating the early part of St. Patrick's month by volunteering in the Iditarod race in Alaska. I'll be singing Celtic tunes while taking care of the huskies running for 1,049 frozen miles from Anchorage to Nome. I have dual citizenship with the Republic, as my grandparents immigrated from Roscommon, Dublin, and Limerick. Perhaps I can start a sled - dog team representing the Republic somewhere in the future. Best wishes,"
Ben Doran replied to my feedback request: "Hello Marc;
The weather here in Wisconsin today definitely inspires kilt wear. And weather/whether or not it is nearly this nice on St. Patrick's Day weekend, I'll be kilting it up. And singing with the band Ar Ais Aris (a - rash a - reesh)("Back Again") on Saturday in Berwyn, Il; then Sunday, to Galena, Il; then finish up with our two usual gigs for retirement communities in Rockton, Il and Beloit, WI on Monday. I will (yep) probably color my beard in orange and green for Monday.
I think among the many new sounds/new music that I've heard from your podcasts, it would be the band, Larkin, that has my fancy (this week, anyway). No, I don't consider myself fickle, just distracted. Slainte, Marc!!"
woodland folk emailed a photo: "heading to the wood for a fire and a practice, can listen then my friend... Attached is a picture,me and another friend who plays a Welsh harp, stopped to play a little on the river brue ...."
Nathanael Stottlemyer emailed: "We're losing Good Celtic Music
Hi Marc, It was last year that I started listening to your podcast, and like a mad man I started your podcast at the very beginning. I'm now at the year 2016 and I've loved every episode. There is just one problem. When I look up the bands that I loved and that I want to purchase their music, they're gone. There's no website, no Spotify, no YouTube, sometimes I can't even find their CD's used! And it's a shame, because they're good songs and sometimes, take Young Hunting by Serious Kitchen (Which was in your best of the year podcasts more than once) it's the only Celtic rendition of the song on the internet. I managed to buy the last Tig! Album off the internet, but it's looking bad for some of my other favorites.
We're losing years of Celtic music, and it's a shame, especially since I know that the members of Serious Kitchen and others are still around. I don't suppose I'm missing a way to buy these albums. I really hope I am. I don't suppose you could use your amazing Celtfather connections and reach out to some of the people of these bands and see if they'd put on Bandcamp? Or perhaps a huge "Best of the Irish and Celtic Music Podcast" album with some of these lost treasures? They're some of the best music I've heard. Thanks, Nathanael"

The music puts a smile on my face and spring in my step. I am especially interested in your celtic invasion trips because vacations of this type are exactly what my wife and I want to do in retirement. Have you visited a place quiet enough for senior citizens who love bicycle riding?"
Ben Q emailed: "Hi Marc, I don't think I've ever been asked a direct question on a podcast before! To answer your question about what episode and when it was that Niamh told this story, it was is in show #552: Reel Fairies, and her story starts around the 47:53 mark. It's totally worth a re - listen; she is so funny. Also wow, yep, that episode was almost two years ago. Time flies!"
Patrick Rieger sent Some More Irish Pictures: "Hello Marc, A few more photos to share.
First up, a few of Terry Griffith, the last few times he was on a stage with an in - person audience at Mullaney's Harp and Fiddle. One is from the 2020 fundraiser for the Pittsburgh Saint Patrick's Day Parade on February 13, 2020, and another is from his gig on February 28, 2020. Within a few weeks, the words Covid and Coronavirus quickly became part of our daily vocabulary, and the shows came to an end for a couple of years.
On June 4, 2022, we had a retirement party for Terry. The best part of the night is when he strapped on a guitar and led the packed pub in A Health to the Company. There were tears and cheers for him throughout the evening, but most came during that special song.
The last photo is from tonight, January 27, 2024. John McCann on acoustic guitar and Hamish on percussion packed the Harp & Fiddle. Lots of great music and an interactive audience.”

Howie Broyles commented on Facebook: "Love the podcast. I have always liked Celtic music and anything to do with Scotland or Ireland. It wasn't until I took a DNA test that I figured out why. I always thought I was mostly German because of my name and where it originates. Turns out I got mostly my moms side and they are all UK based. Ireland, Scotland and Yorkshire. So now I even enjoy it more knowing that it is my history."
Aimee Greenfield sent a picture: "Hi Mark, I love to weave and listen to Celtic music. This music has inspired me for the last 30 years while creating! The music is definitely woven into my current project of Turkish Beach Towels. Thanks for the entertainment!"

WELCOME THE IRISH & CELTIC MUSIC PODCAST* Helping you celebrate Celtic culture through music. I am Marc Gunn.
This podcast comes out four times per month. But every three months, there’s technically an off week. That’s what this week’s show is all about.
But it is also part of a fundraising campaign for our 2024 Kickstarter. We’re funding 100 Celtic Pins, 100 Celtic CDs, and 100 Celtic Shirts for the new year. The campaign closes on Friday. I wanted to send you one bonus episode to remind you to make a pledge to the Kickstarter to support it. This is how you can promote the podcast without filling your Facebook feed full of “Listen to this Podcast” messages.
In addition to the regular campaign rewards, I added a couple Add Ons that are only available with any other physical pledge. The one I’m excited about is the “Kiss Me I’m Sci F’Irish” album pin. If you're a geek like me, then I hope that appeals to you.
Alright on to the show.
Today’s show is an all - instrumental, upbeat exercise show. It lasts just over 40 minutes. And it is just the music.

NEWSLast week, I published a free blog on Patreon–Top 11 Celtic Bands and Artists of 2023. I always find it interesting to see which artists I feature the most on the podcast in a given year. Sometimes these artists crossover the songs and tunes on the Celtic Top 20. It’s fascinating to see. Go read the article on our Patreon. Which you can follow and get blogs like this for free.
Our Make100 Kickstarter campaign is FULLY FUNDED! We funded 100 Celtic Pins, 100 Celtic CDs and 100 Celtic shirts as part of the campaign.
One of the things I did not plan for was Stretch Goals. It took me a moment, but I came up with one that makes me very happy–an exclusive compilation album.
Here’s how it works. If we can raise $6000, then I will put together a bonus compilation album. Everyone who supports the campaign at $25+ will get a copy. I’ll also print 100 physical copies of the album on CD.
The album will feature 12+ songs and tunes from our Highlight Reels. Basically, I’m gonna contact bands and see if I can license enough tracks for a bonus album. I’ll start with the Celtic Top 20. If I can get enough tracks, I’ll stop there. If I can’t then I will dig into our next most - popular Highlight Reels.
Go check out our Kickstarter right now.

Al Ha commented on Patreon: "Happy New Year, Marc! Appreciate everything that you do, thanks for continuing to bring us this great music"
Ben Q emailed: "Hi Marc, Huge fan with a fun story for you from today: I was changing my daughter’s diaper and singing a little song, in this case "The Parting Glass," to keep us both entertained. A lot of the time she will say “Daddy, stop singing!” which hurts a little but is totally fine, ha ha. But today she said “Dad I want you to sing ‘Down by yon green bushes!’” That’s the first line of a song that I actually learned maybe two years ago from Niamh Parsons’s appearance on your podcast, “Bonnie Woodhall,” and Niamh told a great story to go with it as well, about trying over multiple late - night sessions with her fellow musicians to remember the whole thing. I loved that song as well as her story, and I sing that a lot around my house, but - me not sounding much like Niamh when I sing - I don’t get a lot of requests around here exactly, and it really tickled me that my kid requested that one. Anyway, please keep up the good work Marc, and if it’s not too late to say so, a very happy New Year to you."
Patrick Rieger sent a picture and asked about photo sizes for the podcast: "Thank you. I can set the width at 1200 pixels. The photos are already at 72dpi.
Here is a photo of The Craic Show on September 3, 2023, during the opening gate act of the Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival. The Donegal Doggs can be seen seated on the left waiting their turn.
I'll keep the photos coming. We'll be attending Great Lakes, Pittsburgh, and Ohio again this year. We planned the dates to attend Ohio in 2024 during Pub SIng this last year."

Guild' Arcana emailed a photo: "Hi! Greetings from South of Brazil!
My name (artistic name) is Morghán and I am the lead vocalist of a fantasy folk music band from Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, and I am, maybe, an Irish by heart (never been there - in this life - , but simply love Ireland) and all the things about Celtic world. ❤️
I love your Podcast! When I am listening to, it is like I transport myself for a moment to the Celtic world. Thank you for that! 🙏💖
Well, what am I doing while listening to the Celtic Podcast? College homework! 😁 I am a Digital Design student, and I am doing hand drawing homework.
Thank you again for this wonderful Podcast!
Lots of blessings!"
Jeremiah Dønier emailed from Langly, WA: "Hello Marc,
I tried signing up for your mailing list but got an error message saying the mailing list is not active.
My family and I live on the windswept isle of Whidbey upon the Salish Sea. I stumbled across your app in May after canceling my iTunes subscription and we are loving the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast. A few weeks ago, we enjoyed a couple of hours of the music as we pickled some pints of cucumbers (see attached photo).
My love of Celtic music goes back to my family's roots. My dad's kin are mostly from the Swiss Alps and Scandinavia, but my mom's family came from Scotland and Ireland to settle in the Pacific Northwest in the late 1800s. So, I grew up listening to Celtic folk tunes played by my parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
Then I began listening to a range of Celtic music as a teenager in the mid - 1990s. Of course, I enjoyed the explosion of modern Celtic music during this time with crossovers into New Age and Rock. Many purists deride this as faux Celtic but it didn't matter to me. I like the flitting of flutes, braggadocio of bagpipes, and harmony of harps. One of my favorite memories from back then, was going to an oversold a Colcannon show in Ellensburg, Washington and I was seated on the stage!
Since then, I accumulated an eclectic collection of Celtic tunes. During the pandemic I began looking through my older CDs and found "Celtic Legacy A Global Celtic Journey" by the Narada. It features are a number of groups from Ireland, Breton, Wales, and Scotland and the American Celtic diaspora. Then I noticed there a group stands out as bit different and it has become one of my favorites: Milladoiro.
They come from northwest Spain which I learned is a region rich but often overlooked in Celtic history. Indeed, research shows many cultural and genetic links between Ireland, Galicia, and the Basques.
Anyway, I wanted to say hello, share a bit about me and my love of Celtic music. Throughout the week the podcast is my way to relax. With over 500 episodes it is going to take me awhile to get through them all. I love how you feature so many different types of Celtic music with differrent themes.
So, all this leads me to I wonder if you've ever done a show on global Celtic music? Perhaps you could feature some of those groups like Milladoiro that add a bit a different flavor to the Celtic tunes we love.
Go raibh míle maith agat! (May you have a thousand good things!)"
Pronunciation: guh rev mee - leh mah agut

Dave Ottalini emailed from Silver Spring, Maryland: "Just dropping a note to say thank you. Your podcasts are wonderful and I listen to them all the time - they bring joy at all times of the year."
Shawn Webster emailed a photo: "Greetings! Today I’m patching a concrete floor following a sewer line repair! The podcast makes this work much more tolerable. Thank you for another great episode."
Christopher Patrick of the band FitzBlarney emailed some Christmas photos from Salem, Massachusetts and wrote: "Hello, Mark! Wanted to share! For Christmas this year I FINALLY got my Bluetooth receiver for my car! This means I can now start my day listening to the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast on my daily commute! My commute to work being only 20 to 30 minutes, I get to travel home listening to it too!
I have just finished listening to your Celtic - Christmas episode, and was very impressed with the tunes - especially the creative arrangements. These gave me so many ideas for future arrangements with my Celtic Music band, FitzBlarney.
We actually began as an ‘Acoustic - Celtic Christmas’ trio, (comprised of myself and my two sisters.) Since then, we have taken on my brother and brother - in - law, and also play non - Christmas, Irish/Celtic music.
In fact, this past December, we were asked to play at the Historic Salem ‘House Tour.”
In essence, people with historic houses open them up to the public to walk through and see their Christmas displays. Musicians, ( like ourselves, ) set - up and create some Christmassy background music. This year, we were playing in the chapel of St. Peter’s Church, (founded in 1733!)
We also did our “Acoustic Brunch,” at O’Neill’s Pub, also in Salem, MA. (I have attached a couple’ pictures for you!)
Thank you again for all you do! My commutes sound great now!"
Tim Hughes sent a photo: "while walking our tri - pawed dog, Kinder, on the bike path on a wintry morning in Madison, WI."

Eric G emailed: "Hey Marc! Regarding the proposed whiskey tour, it's one of my bucket list items to go on an Invasion...but teaching makes it difficult. For this proposal, I start back up August 9, 2024. If you end up scheduling earlier let me know, we're definitely into hiking. Actually this is old now but one of the "what are you doing while listening to the Podcast" was running from Wordsworth's Dove Cottage in Grasmere UK up to Easedale Tarn in heavy rain. Even with rain jackets we got wet but it was glorious and the music matched the scene."
Rich Hoffman replied to the Celtic Music Magazine's Christmas greetings: "Thanks for all the great music Mark. It is a true gift to us. Happy 2024! "
emilio marco colombo also replied: "Many thanks Marc. And a big hug from Italy! And thank you always for the beautiful music you offer us!"
Patrick Rieger emailed photos: "Hello Marc, Here are photos from the Celtic Christmas Music show Celtic Pittsburgh hosted at Mullaney's Harp & Fiddle the evening of December 9th.
The performers were Cahal Dunne; Mike Clancy and Alan Booth of Abbots Cross; Bill McShane of the University of Pittsburgh Nationality Rooms and Intercultural Exchange Program speaking about the Scottish room; Kip Ruefle and Lawrence McCullough of the Kip Ruefle Trio; Jessica Willard on hammered dulcimer, and RichPatrick, with (l to r) Sue Borowski, Rich Lange, and Jim Borowski.
The pub was packed that night, and everyone had a great time. A big thanks to the staff of the Harp for handling such a crowd so well."
Bill Mandeville commented on Patreon: "Great Christmas podcast! A family member commented that the songs were so fresh and original. Not the supermarket fare you hear to ad nauseam this time of year. Here is wishing you and your lovely family a merry Christmas."
He wrote a separate post regarding the Celtic Top 20 episode: "I jotted down a couple songs to vote for; but only to find out the songs were from 2012 podcast and not on the list. That’s when I got this epiphany. Why don’t you reopen the best of (prior year). You can call it - Best if 2012: For Real This Time.
Gwênlyn Glusman emailed a photo: "Hi Marc, I think I first enjoyed the Irish & Celtic Music podcast in late 2005, but I wasn't much into podcasts then and lost track of it... Then on December 26th, 2022 (exactly one year ago) I did some google images search and a logo caught my eye among the results... and I rediscovered your podcast! Been avidly listening since then, and became a patron in January 2023.
I typically listen to the podcast while walking in the neighborhood or while commuting (which I do by bus). It always lifts my mood! Also very much enjoying the Celtic Christmas podcast!
Here's a photo from Dervish at the Triple Door in Seattle, November 7th. I heard from you they were touring, and very much enjoyed the show, with friends!"
Annelise Laughlin emailed: "Hi Marc, I’m enjoying some quiet time and listening to your Celtic Christmas 2023 episode while brainstorming my New Year’s resolution!
Thanks so much for continuing to produce your podcast. I love listening whenever the mood strikes me, and it always brings me joy.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!"

Katherine McMillan sent some pictures: "Hi Marc! My name is Kat, I’m an Aussie and I was travelling through Peru for the month of July. You mentioned in a recent episode to send in travel pictures, so here are a few happy snaps from my recent wanderings.
I’ve played the flute for many years, with my favourite type of music to play being anything Celtic. However, while in the city of Cusco, I met a Peruvian flute maker and fell in love with the sound of the low Andean meditation flute. I’m already thinking of creative ways I can blend the Andean flute with a Celtic sound. I’d be open to any suggestions! I’ve attached a photo of me playing the Andean flute at Laguna Churup, it was quite a hike to get there but well worth the view.
Aside from that, I get very badly motion sick on buses and unfortunately this is the main mode of transport to get around Peru. I found that zoning out by listening to the Irish and Celtic Music Podcast was incredibly helpful on long haul bus rides, so thank you for helping me to prevent motion sickness while travelling!
I can’t wait to hear where your next Celtic Invasion takes you.
Happy travels,"
Patrick Rieger emailed photos: "Hello Marc, My family and I went to three faires this year, and I wanted to share some photos of the musicians.
First up are photos from the Great Lakes Medieval Faire. Then the Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival. And finally, the Ohio Renaissance festival. I'll need to spread them out over two or three emails because of attachment size limits."

As a patron, you get music - only episodes before regular listeners, vote in the Celtic Top 20, stand - alone stories, and you get a private feed to listen to the show. All that for as little as $1 per episode.
A special thanks to our Celtic Legends: Bill Mandeville, Marti Meyers, Brenda, Karen, Emma Bartholomew, Dan mcDade, Carol Baril, Miranda Nelson, Nancie Barnett, Kevin Long, Gary R Hook, Lynda MacNeil, Kelly Garrod, Annie Lorkowski, Shawn Cali
