Welcome to the club! I’m Jack. Together we learn English with classic stories made simple for English learners. Stories are the most powerful way to grow your understanding of the language and have fun at the same time! Join me as we travel through magical, mysterious, funny, and sometimes scary worlds together. Many of these classic stories were written many years ago, when the English language was quite different. This means that reading them today can be very difficult for English learners, and not so useful either. I change the language of these stories to make them easier to understand and using more modern language. I also make sure that the story is just as fun and engaging as the original. This is a British English podcast, so if you are interested in learning British English, this will be particularly helpful for you. You can us this for shadowing (reading out loud with me), or as a listening exercise. I believe that your brain begins to acquire the language by first understanding. That’s why we need to get a lot of listening practice before we can hope to speak well. If we must do lots of listening, then we should make sure that the listening is fun! If you would like to support the show buy me a coffee, you can do that at https://ko-fi.com/jacksenglishstoryclub. Your support helps me make more amazing stories available to English learners!

In this new original series from Somethin' Else, Claudia Winkleman and Professor Tanya Byron identify struggles faced by real-life parents and family members by inviting them in and hearing their story, in a one-time unscripted session with a real person. Claudia listens in to the conversation to discover how Tanya begins to unlock the story behind the issue and help find solutions.
With topics ranging from parental estrangement, gender identity, domestic violence, trauma, inheriting mental health issues, family dynamics after cancer and raising a severely disabled daughter, How Did We Get Here? is a passionate, insightful and moving experience with clear outcomes to each episode.
This podcast doesn’t tell people how to raise their children, or reconnect with family members, rather it helps people understand why, as perfectly competent adults, they can’t put into practice what they know they should do.
Each episode passes on useful links and contacts which listeners can find in the programme notes.
This is a Somethin' Else production. -

The BHP is a chronological retelling of the history of Britain with a particular focus upon the lives of the people. You won’t find a dry recounting of dates and battles here, but instead you’ll learn about who these people were and how their desires, fears, and flaws shaped the scope of this island at the edge of the world. And some of those desires are downright scandalous.

Demarchoe Carpenter was only seventeen when he was wrongfully convicted of murder. He spent the next twenty-two years of his life trying to prove his innocence. His wrongful conviction isn't an isolated incident, but rather part of a larger systemic breakdown. Through Buried Alive: Demarchoe's story we hope to identify the systemic causes that ultimately led to his wrongful incarceration... and to use that knowledge to effect change.

Four high-achieving students redefine what it means to be successful beyond the books.
Traditionally, a wooden spoon is given to the person who comes last in a race. Instead of lingering on the failure of coming last, that same wooden spoon can be put to work and become something useful.
The Wooden Spoon is a podcast about success, but more importantly, what success really looks like after you finish school and take on the real world. It's no longer defined by a grade - it's about living a successful life that is unique to you. -
Welcome, Friends. Storytelling has the power to not only create connections but provide universal truths about ourselves and the world. When listening to this podcast, I ask that you honor these stories and the rawness, transparency, and vulnerability that they invoke. Invite them with an open heart and you will see that all stories share a universal message. I pray that each anecdote leaves you inspired to share as the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "It is also charity to utter a good word.” But more importantly, I pray that you allow yourself to find comfort in the good, wisdom in the hardship, and the courage to trust Allah.
