The data revealed that 6% - or 33 companies - have sponsorship deals with the WNBA, NWSL, and PWHL, and of the 40 industries studied, not one sponsors womenâs sports exclusively.
The apples-to-apples comparison between menâs & womenâs sports leagues found that:
đ 48 Fortune 500 companies sponsor the NBA, while 15 sponsor the WNBA
â˝ď¸ 51 Fortune 500 companies sponsor the MLS, while 19 sponsor the NWSL
đ 50 Fortune 500 companies sponsor the NHL, while 3 sponsor the PWHL.

On September 26th, ATHLOS will bring the fastest women in the world to New Yorkâs Icahn Stadium to compete for a $500,000 prize purse + 10% of the eventâs revenue.
The event is backed by Alexis Ohanian (the Founder of Reddit and Seven Seven Six Ventures and the husband of Serena Williams) who believes track & field is the next big opportunity in womenâs sports.
ATHLOS NYC will feature six events: the 100m, 200m, 400m, 100m hurdles, 800m, and 1500m, and will be broadcast via YouTube, X, ESPN+, and DAZN.
Fans will not only see the fastest women in the world compete, but the event will also be headlined with a musical performance from Megan Thee Stallion.

Their study, titled: Rep Her: Revealing the Unmet Demand for Womenâs Sports Merchandise revealed that the potential market size is $4 billion, and that there are significant disparities when it comes to availability & quality in womenâs sports merchandise compared to menâs sports.
A few of the key findings include:
Womenâs sports fans make more purchases per year than menâs sports fans -- and spend more per year on merchandise than menâs sports fans.For every 9 pieces of menâs sports merchandise that are available for purchase, womenâs sports have just 1.79% of surveyed respondents reported they would purchase more womenâs sports merchandise if there were more options available to them.In this episode, hear Megan & Caroline dig into the research and discuss why itâs bad business to neglect creating merchandise for womenâs sports fans.

LIVE from this yearâs TST, meet Heather OâReilly - a former USWNT member, the Captain of the US Womenâs team at TST, and one of the key leaders behind the creation of the 1st-ever Womenâs TST.âĄď¸
TST (aka The Soccer Tournament) - is a menâs & womenâs 7v7, winner-take-all, professional soccer tournament.
In 2023, Heather entered the only all-womenâs team in the 1st iteration of TST - before there was specifically a womenâs edition of the tournament.
Fast forward a year, and Heather & the leaders at TST worked together to establish the 1st-ever Womenâs TST and bring on Ally as the Official Retail Banking partner of TST â which included sponsoring Heather OâReilly + her TST team âUS Women.â (Ally Bank, Member FDIC)
Thanks to Allyâs help, the winner of the 2024 womenâs bracket - which this year was the US Women! - took home $1 million â the exact same as the winning team of the menâs tournament.
