Medicines are ubiquitous, especially if you recently had a medical procedure. But all these medical procedures would not be possible without basic medicines. The call for these basic medicines to be made available to all patients is the essential medicines movement that began in the late 1970s. Through this podcast, three undergraduate students from UCLA interview experts with different backgrounds to learn about existing rationales around essential medicines. We believe that medicines should be available to all because at the end of the day, they are essentially medicines

Gerhard Schröder, geboren 1944, war von 1998 bis 2005 der siebte Kanzler der Bundesrepublik Deutschland. Von 1980 bis 1986 und von 1998 bis 2005 war er für die SPD Mitglied des Deutschen Bundestages. Von 1990 bis 1998 amtierte er als Ministerpräsident des Landes Niedersachsen. Nach dem Ausscheiden aus seinen politischen Ämtern ist Gerhard Schröder wieder als selbstständiger Rechtsanwalt in Hannover tätig. Er hat Funktionen in der Wirtschaft sowie Ehrenämter übernommen, zum Beispiel als Schirmherr des Antirassismus-Vereins „Gesicht Zeigen!“.
