It was set in motion by Georgia Congressman Newt Gingrich, who — over the course of 15 years — pushed Republicans in a direction of confrontation and conservatism. Grāmata nav saglabājusies, taču šis notikums iezīmē pagrieziena punktu Latvijas vēsturē, gan saistībā ar latviešu valodas un identitātes, grāmatniecības, rakstītā un drukātā vārda attīstību, gan attiecībā uz zināšanu, ideju un inovāciju apriti un izplatību Latvijas teritorijā.
Raidījumā “Grāmatai pa pēdām. Latviešu grāmatai 500” vēlamies izstāstīt stāstu, kā piecu gadsimtu garumā latviešu valoda un grāmatniecība ir laidusi dziļas saknes, kuras atklājot, varam izgaismot ne tikai mūsu vēsturi Eiropas un pasaules kopskatā, bet rast atbildes par mūsu turpmāko pastāvēšanu un attīstības ceļu. Runāsim par latviešu valodu, tās rakstītās formas izplatību un lietošanas paradumu izmaiņām cauri laikiem mūsdienīgā kontekstā.

Ollie Guillou speaks to his Grandma about the 3 long years she spent in the camp.
