The 328 WPS is one of twenty-one squadrons at the United States Air Force Weapons School. The 328 WPS one of the largest squadrons within the USAF Weapons School and manages two separate syllabi: the Space Superiority Weapons Instructor Course (WIC) and the Space Warfighter Advanced Instructor Course (AIC). The squadron transferred to the United States Space Force in 2020.

Brig. Gen. Stephen G. Purdy Jr. is dual-hatted as Director, Requirements, Architectures and Analysis and Director, Plans, Programs and Financial Management, Headquarters United States Space Force, Peterson Air Force, Base, Colorado. He is responsible for developing strategy, doctrine and policy for the command’s space operations, defining the future of space systems through requirements definition, mission-area architectures, analysis, science and technology development and insertion in support of the joint warfighter, Department of Defense, civil and national users. He is also responsible for planning, programming, budget execution and auditing of an $87 billion budget that provides agile, integrated and resilient space and cyberspace capabilities for the joint force and the nation while also leading the Space Force’s Special Access Program and security activities.
Mr. Gordon Kordyak is the Chief of the Space Domain Awareness (SDA) Directorate at SMC.

The Space Training and Readiness Delta Provisional (STAR Delta) is a provisional delta of the United States Space Force and headquartered at Peterson Air Force Base. Space Training and Readiness Delta Provisional is be responsible for the training and education of space professionals, as well as the development of space warfighting doctrine and will serve as the precursor to the Space Training and Readiness Command. Announced as part of the U.S. Space Force's structure on 30 June 2020, STARCOM will activate in 2021. In the interim period, the Space Training and Readiness Delta was activated on 24 July 2020 to provide oversight of Space Force education, training, and operational test and evaluation units. STARCOM will be led by a major general, while the STAR Delta is led by a colonel.

On this edition of “A Space Pro”, I interview Lt Col Brandon “Coach” Davenport, the second space warning squadron commander on his Schriever Essay Award winning paper “On Implementing a Space war-fighting construct…A treatise on applied frameworks from other domains”. In his paper he discusses the four tenants that are going to be necessary for future space warfighters, they are authority, responsibility, decision making and leadership. He mentions space warfighters need to have the situational awareness in order to make decisions. He also draws the comparison between the United States Space Force and the Navy by discussing the importance of both the blue and brown water Navy.
