Remember your first steps? Remember the encouragement you got from your parents when you first fell? Did they discourage you or encourage you to get up and try again? You probably don’t remember since you were so young and it was so long ago... but picture it. Imagine it. Now apply that mentality and attitude to everything else you do in your life. You’re going to fall. You’re going to fail. You’re going to make mistakes. But none of them are bad if we choose to not allow them to be. Get back up, learn, adjust, and keep moving forward. So much attention is paid to what we put into our bodies as it relates to food and water and nutrition, but what about what we allow into our minds and consciousness? This weekend, instead of doing the “usual”, challenge yourself and plan on doing something different, something productive. Whether it be getting outside and enjoying the weather, starting that book you’ve been meaning to read, getting that project you’ve been putting off forever done... It’s so important not to forget the importance of properly feeding and fueling your body. Stick with natural foods and avoid processed foods. A good rule of thumb is to avoid anything that comes in a box or a bag. Stick to the perimeter of the grocery store and avoid going down the aisles and for the most part, you’ll be good. Speaking positive affirmations first thing in the morning can help you to get into a positive frame of mind first thing in the morning. Speaking them again in the evening right before bed can help to neutralize any negativity you may have encountered during the day so you can sleep and dream peacefully. Something to keep in mind when exercising, especially when doing body weight training, is that as your volume and intensity increases, so will your appetite. I go over whether or not you should increase your caloric intake (all depends on your goals) and what to do to help curb your appetite if needed.
