Now working at Lower House Equine Clinic, Maddy Baly graduated from Nottingham Vet School in 2025 and had already scoped out a potential career path during her time on EMS. When a job came up in a practice that were 'her' people', the stars started to align. But far from resting on her laurels, Maddy treats every opportunity as a chance to learn. This approach has proved hugely rewarding and demonstrates the potential for enjoying being an equine vet is out there for anyone who wants to go and find it!

In recent years we've talked a lot about how we try to get clients to change their behaviours but how do we make changes in our practice or the profession? Realistically the method is the same but for both it can be really easy to fall into doing what's known in the behaviour change world as an "ISLAGIATT" (it seemed like a good idea at the time) approach. Listen in as Melissa, equine vet turned researcher turned behaviour change specialist, tells us about a useful framework and strategy to help us not waste our time and energy on doing things that are unlikely to have the impact we want them to.
