It's a big day for me as I have hit my original goal of 90 days booze free. I signed up with One Year No Beer and took on their 90 day challenge and with their support, guidance and the help of the massive community in their closed Facebook group, I've smashed that goal!
I feel amazing. Who knew that abstaining from alcohol for 3 months would have such a positive and life changing affect.
I feel so much healthier, well rested, enthusiastic and emotionally stable. The destructive and unhealthy things I used to enjoy as a drinker are no longer a part of my life and have been replaced with development, learning, exercise, progressing in my career and most importantly for me, dedicated and 100% present time with my wife and daughter. There's no sugar coating it, I'm a better Dad without alcohol in my life. But I'm not stopping there. I'm not ready to give up the incredible changes to my world, so the show must go on and I'll be taking you along with me as I continue to navigate this amazing life sans alcohol.
So my guest for this week is Scott Hardiman.
Scott is a coach that specialises in building confidence. He tells us about his journey of being alcohol free and we talk about Scott's past history battling anxiety for over 5 years and how this affected his perception of drinking.
We broach the subjects of anxiety and confidence and how we can tackle anxious thoughts and build confidence without the need to self medicate through alcohol.
Scott also explains and demonstrates that being more present and mindful can help alleviate anxious thoughts
One a side note we talk about my crippling fear of holiday entertainment teams and he teaches me how to question my negative self talk.
I'm excited to share this interview with you and I hope you enjoy it.

Who doesn't want to be more happy?! Silly question really, but do we ever consider what affect alcohol has on our happiness? Is it holding us back from a more rich and fulfilling life?
Looking back I don't think I was truly happy when I was drinking. And when I wasn't drinking, I would be suffering the affects of heightened anxiety, guilt and the negative physical symptoms that come with drinking.
I would trade a few hours of boozy relief for a day of suffering in a continuous cycle. That's no way to live a happy life.
In this episode I'm thrilled to be joined by John Davidson; a psychotherapist, host of Happiness Hacks podcast and all around lovely guy.
He decided to cut alcohol out of his life 7 years ago and as a result, he completely changed his career and lifestyle to one that is based around both caring for himself and helping others with their mental health.
We cover some fascinating topics including how to swap out alcohol as a coping strategy to something more beneficial and also how to develop other areas of your life alongside your relationship with alcohol.

John also has a brand now programme called YOUniversity which is a 12 month course on living a happier life.

Moderation is something that a lot of drinkers strive for. The ability to 'take it or leave it'. Many people struggle with moderation when coming out of a booze break. Some find it taxing on their willpower and some find themselves slipping into their old ways.
My guest in today's episode is Ruari Fairbairns, co-founder of One Year No Beer. He believes that changing your relationship with alcohol is only a part of a grander journey of self development. And once you have made necessary changes to your beliefs, actions and values, that moderation can be achieved when is come to alcohol.
Ruari will also be sharing an insight into his past, his relationship with alcohol currently and all of the incredible work he and his team do over at One Year No Beer.

It's well known that Alcohol is a depressant and can heighten anxiety as it's effects wear off. This is bad news for people who already suffer with some level of anxiety in their lives.
So addressing your relationship with alcohol and taking a break from it will have a hugely positive impact on your Anxiety and Depression.
In this episode I talk with The Anxiety Guy, Dennis Simsek. He shares his relationship with alcohol past and present, we explore how alcohol can affect your mental health and we discuss how to form healthier habits through a process of substitution.
Dennis has a new book with an epic title - Fuck Coping, Start Healing which I highly recommend getting your hands on.
