Brady and Blake speak with Brady Pearson of BP Customs.
First they discuss his graphic design background and what led him to his current state: creating custom wooden signs and other woodworking projects. They talk about project origins – custom sport signs for his man cave – to his commissions – signs, home decor, furniture, and artwork.
Next they talk about how he gets his inspiration and how he expresses that with his chosen art form – wood. Other topics include his shop, the tools he uses, and his thoughts on expanding from the current side-hustle and beyond. Brady touches on his approach to marketing and his experience with Reddit, Instagram, and Facebook.
Things close out by discussing Brady's craft beer journey and what he looks for when he's at the liquor store and restaurants. For our astute and budget minded listeners, Brady shares a tip to cut down on your dentist bills!

Brady and Ryan are back on the road at Lupulin Brewing. They begin by discussing the original story of the brewery. It starts with Jeff's introduction to homebrewing and the serendipity of meeting his co-founder Matt at a local homebrewing club. They finish by covering how Aaron came into the picture and how his Scandinavian studies parlayed into an apprenticeship while couchsurfing in Sweden for Sundbybergs Köksbryggeri.
The pair inquires on the first batches of beer on their initial 10bbl brewhouse. Talking about whether there was a point they knew things were working for the business hits on many points of growth and expansion from Blissful to Hooey and beyond.
Aaron dives into the passion behind the Scribbled Lines sour program. They discuss its relation to Lupulin and the separation of the brand and facilities. It's a critical part of exploring their passion while expanding their portfolio of beers to offer something for everyone.
Of course, interviewing a brewery in 2020 can't happen without COVID-19 coming up. The group talk about the innovation it has forced on the brewery and the permanent changes they've seen for themselves and their patrons. Scrappy forces came together to drive creative solutions that kept the doors open – all while treating their customers and employees right.
It ends by talking about the desire to give back to the community that has given them so much. This includes their Pours for a Purpose program which donates to a different organization every month by setting aside a dollar a beer every Thursday. They transition into discussing their Black is Beautiful beer and the movement initiated by Weathered Souls Brewing. They worked with their suppliers to drive down the cost of the beer to ensure their promise of donating 100% of their proceeds provided the most bang for the back to Voices for Racial Justice and the Brewing Change Collaborative.

Brady welcomes Ryan Salsman (@taptraveler) as the new co-host of Brew Chat by sitting down with Jon Dispenza and Harrison Hickock, hosts of Drinking Socially – The Official Untappd Podcast (@untappd, @drinkingsocially).
They each share their craft beer journey, different beginnings with the same end. Harrison began as a brewer for Thimble Island (@thimbleislandbrewing) and Neshaminy Creek (@neshaminycreekbrewingco) before his wife discovered an Untappd job posting. Jon, a Buffalo native, decided 35 years of "coldness and darkness" was enough that he deserved 35 years of sun and beaches in Wilmington, NC. He discovered the Untappd application after early days in Buffalo tasting "beers with flavor." He jumped at the opportunity to work for Untappd the same time as Harrison.
The Drinking Socially podcast is a passion project in addition to their daily sales and marketing duties. Their goal is to introduce "more beer to more people" by making beer more approachable. The new season includes a feature called Beer 101 which focuses on education, the science of brewing, and Harrison's colorful brewhouse anecdotes.
Untappd is evolving with the recent changes in the craft beer industry. There is less time spent on the roof deck overlooking the Cape Fear River and daily shifts in service to their brewing partners. A short list of changes include: Gregslist – a comprehensive database of COVID details for all partners, QR code tap lists, and an unrestricted "Untappd at Home" location. They've also seen drastic changes in their social media strategy, spinning up Untappd TV on Facebook and hosting virtual festivals. They have been so successful that they may remain permanent.
Things end with discussions on Minnesota Craft Beer, Ryan and Brady's selection for the first beer in their personal "Mount Beermore," and what trends they are sick of. Ryan throws Harrison a head scratching "Would you Rather" before Brady asks which beer style they most resemble. You'll even get a bold prediction on the next big beer style. Spoiler Alert: it doesn't exist...yet!

Brady and Holli sit down with Adam & Katie Rozanas, local beer bloggers with big aspirations. They discuss how their journey began, from their early days as a couple in Minneapolis to their present-day home in Rogers.
Between Katie's colorful can reads in a variety of accents, the group discusses the origin of their Instagram account which was born out of a difficult season in their life. Their desire to tell unique stories through written word led them to gigs with PorchDrinking (porchdrinking.com) and The Growler (growlermag.com).
Time is spent discussing mental health and how those who suffer from depression and anxiety deal with the toxicity of social media. They mention how it's easy to forget that there are real people behind the accounts, but that the duo does a good job of sharing their failures as well as their successes.
And it wouldn't be a 2020 podcast without discussing shelter-at-home, COVID-19, and George Floyd. There was a lot to cover. Adam and Katie dig deep into their thoughts on the current events, the backlash they received during the protests, and mused on their responsibility as social media influencers.
The podcast finishes by asking what's next for their account. It's a watershed moment that either means the end or the start of something big. Stick around if you want to find out what style of beer they believe most resembles themselves. You'll even learn about Katie's next tattoo!
Beers:
