Emer McLysaght joins me to discuss the week's entertainment stories, the first of which simply had to be Paul Mescal's short-shorts and the discourse around it. We also discuss whether Sabrina Carpenter is shading Irish people in Please Please Please, the Tony Awards and which show Emer went to see twice within one trip to NYC, and The Fonz at The Shelbourne.

Sarah Breen and Emer McLysaght are the co-authors of the Oh My God What a Complete Aisling series, a true publishing phenomenon. While the book series has ended, Sarah and Emer couldn't bear to let go of Aisling, and have just launched The Ballygobbard Project. I was delighted to catch up with them this week to find out what we can expect and why they decided to bring us back to Ballygobbard.

Over on Patreon recently, we were discussing chatting to children about difficult topics and Sarah Sproule's name came up. Sarah is an incredible educator when it comes to sex and relationships, and how and when to approach them with children. I often check in with her instagram page and website when I'm confused on these matters, and was delighted that she agreed to chat with me for the podcast so we could all benefit from her expertise!

This week's interview is with Nicki Killeen, who is HSE Project Manager on emerging drug trends, harm reduction and nightlife. I met Nicki this week after following her work in the drugs sector for years, and was so impressed by her passion for harm reduction when it comes to drugs, as well as her vast knowledge of drug culture and trends in Ireland and beyond. I knew you guys would be interested in learning about how drug culture has changed, and what the HSE is doing to keep people safe in nightlife in Ireland, so I was delighted she agreed to a chat.

I promised you a recording of a conversation I had with David Nicholls on Monday night at ILDF, but unfortunately that recording appears to have been lost. I'm devo - there was a technical issue during the chat where our microphones went out and apparently what actually had happened was that the sound desk shut down and the recording was deleted. Gutting, to say the least. Fortunately, I was planning on bringing you a recording of my chat with Pillow Queens from my most recent live show anyway, so it just moved up the schedule a little. I hope you enjoy.

The European election is coming up and there are ONE HUNDRED MILLION CANDIDATES* and it can all be a little confusing so I got the brilliant Sinead O'Carroll, editor of TheJournal.ie, back to help. She explains why our vote is so important, how to get basic info about the candidates and how to use your vote most effectively. This episode isn't about telling you who to vote for, rather making sure you feel empowered to use your vote in the best way for you.
You can find The Journal's European election resource here.

It feels a little weird to talk about the fluff and frippery of the world of entertainment in the context of what's happening in Rafah but this is the entertainment episode so that's what Cian Sullivan and I did. We discussed the Met Gala, the Kendrick vs. Drake hip hop beef, Jeff Goldblum's children's inheritance, and the mysterious allure of non-famous celebrity magnets like Derek Blasberg.
