James, Rhys & Joe discussed Richard Linklater's influential gen-x coming of age movie, Dazed & Confused - but also: the Venom trailer, the Minecraft Trailer, and the Timestalkers trailer, as well as much more!

Joe, James and Rhys take a look at Ridley Scott's ALIEN (1979) starring Sigourney Weaver (and a giant nightmare creature from beyond the stars). The hit that spawned a franchise, does it hold up? (Yes, it does).
We also cover the Olympics (really), My Neighbour Totoro, Mars Express, the Spider-Man rereleases, some movies of 1986, Trap, and a bunch of news out of D23. (Apologies for Rhys's audio quality towards the end - he didn't get hit in the mouth and start lisping, his recording quality just glitched out.)
Remember, you can hear our Deadpool & Wolverine episode on Patreon now, as well as a follow up episode to this one where we discuss our thoughts on the rest of the Alien franchise. Subscribe now at http://patreon.com/cinematicuniverse

There's also a deep(ish) dive on, er, the Venom 3 trailer!

Joe, James and Rhys take a look at Ernst Lubitsch's 1933 polyamory romcom, Design for Living, based (very loosely) on a Noel Coward play. And for those who prefer stuff released this century, we also have a big old chat about Fallout and the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer!

James, Rhys and Joe take a look at Randall Park's directorial debut, 2023's Shortcomings - which actually is based on an Adrian Tomine comic and therefore could have been a reviewed under the old format, but that's what happens when you ask James what he wants to talk about. PLUS: chat about Coyote Vs. Acme, Kevin Smith's Masters of the Universe, and True Detective.

James, Rhys and Joe look back over the best and worst of 2023, as well as presenting the all-important hall of fame inductees. Will anyone from Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania make it in? Or will they be turned away at the door never to darken its presence again? The answer may surprise you...

The podcast strike is over! (ahem) as James and Rhys return for a news roundup after several weeks of failing to align everyone's schedules. But what news is there to cover after a summer of strikes? Well... not a lot. But listen in to see how much we can squeeze out of a colourised release of Werewolf by Night and the news that a Silver Sable movie is NOT in development.

It's a rare dip into the back catalogue as - following James Gunn's appointment at DC - we take a look at BRIGHTBURN, the 2019 superhero horror movie he produced. Is it good, bad, or maybe even so bad it's good? One thing's for sure: we had fun talking about it afterwards.
Note that this was recorded before the announcement of the DC slate a few days ago - we'll be recording a new episode following up on that for release shortly. And don't forget to check out our Patreon in a couple of weeks for an episode covering Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania!

Joe, James & Rhys crack open the Cinematic Universe Theatre for the 2022 awards show (or what passes for them these days). Which is the best movie? Which is the best worst movie? And who will enter the hall of fame? All we can say is this: Morbius fans, don't get your hopes up.

James, Rhys & Joe are back to discuss the latest comic book TV and movie news. The hierarchy of power in the DC universe has changed - but which twitter accounts has The Rock unfollowed? A new Superman movie is on the cards - without Henry Cavill. Yann Demange is the new director of Blade! And how long will we let James talk about Wednesday given that no-one else has seen it? Plus: Reactions to the Guardians Holiday Special, which did not warrant its own episode.
