The playlist is back, but this time it's movie time! (All of that was in the title, what a goddamn pointless exercise this is) Dave and Dom have chosen 3 movies each that remind them of their relationship with their respective fathers and there is some real gold in there!
-
NeDom Genesis Daveangelion is back and the boys even recorded mid-week because they were so excited to keep talking about it!
-
Episodi mancanti?
-
What more is there to say? It's Austin Powers! On Daddy Issues!
-
Welcome to the weird world of Daddy Issues and NeDom Genesis Daveangelion! For an Episode 20 treat, our boys dive into one of anime's foundational texts and geek out over feeling depressed.
-
This is a BIG ONE! Dave and Dom dive into Shia LaBeouf's masterpiece Honey Boy... and then into Shia and the allegations against him.
This is a Daddy Issues first for many reasons, and one of them is: "Honey Boy is undoubtedly an amazing movie. But can we enjoy it in good conscience?"

They've talked about The Mandalorian, they've discussed Road to Perdition, now it's time to follow The Assassin's Road, with Ogami Itto, the Baby Cart Assassin. In this episode, Dom & Dave explore Kazuo Koike and Goseki Kojima's foundational text and pay their respects to the late, great MF Doom (with a mini-playlist too!) We use and reference a few videos (that of course we don't own and are using in fair use context, and they're listed below!) HUGE SHOUT OUT TO aa aa's Rhyme's Highlighted videos. Also, Dom doesn't know how to pronounce RZA because he's only ever seen it written down and Dave's gonna make him feel it.
-
In Straight Outta Compton, the character of Ice Cube is played by the real-life Ice Cube's son, O'Shea Jackson Jnr... a son... playing his father... that's the set up for this episode of Daddy Issues.
-
Fresh off meditating on the toilet, Dom calls Dave to spitball the thoughts that have been running through his head: The Force isn't a spiritual concept, it's a metafictional stand-in for money and narrative structure.
And who is it that lusts for power and control over the continued revenues of the Star Wars franchise? Mickey frickin' Mouse.
-
On the previous episode of Daddy Issues, Dom made a BOLD CLAIM that the famous family themes that run throughout the original Star Wars trilogy are a lie! And that audience's assumptions that all Star Wars media must be family-related has created a narrative problem for the franchise. Dave was having NONE OF IT, and has brought in some back-up! Daddy Issues' first guest, Dom's dad.
-
The second part of the Daddy Issues conversation about The Mandalorian delves further into the father/son relationship in season 2. Will Dave find an emotional connection to these characters? Will Dom improve the overall story? Probably, it's amazing that Hollywood hasn't hired him yet, especially given how good he is at writing podcast descriptions.
-
Season 2 of The Mandalorian has just concluded, which means Dave and Dom finally have the chance to talk about TV's most popular father and son relationship: a man whose face we barely see... and a green puppet.
This episode is part 1 and largely focuses on season 1 of the show, BUT FEATURES BIG OL' SPOILERS FOR EVERYTHING, so be warned! Probably watch it all first.
-
Dave and Dom discuss the music and the father/son relationship of Loudon Wainwright III & Rufus Wainwright. This is a Dave special and a chance for us to analyze some music and life choices!
-
Dave and Dom jump into their first graphic novel discussion, Maus by Art Spiegelman. It's worth noting that this episode will discuss topics explored in the book like the Holocaust so just a heads up!
If you have any movies/books/mediums you'd to hear them explore then leave it in the comments below!
-
Tom Hanks and Young Superman take a father and son trip all the way to REVENGE in the 2002 movie adaptation of Road to Perdition, and (for some reason) Dom & Dave have a lot to say about its multi-layered comments on fatherhood.Enjoy!
-
Did anyone expect a discussion of the 'Hugh Jackman teaches a robot to box' movie to go on for over 2 hours?! No, especially not Dave and Dom when they scheduled their Saturday afternoon but this gets REAL EMOTIONAL and (not to spoil anything) but we get our first Daddy Issues 'tears on the pod' moment.
Want to hear a grown man cry? Then this is the video for you! Talking about Real Steel... a largely forgotten movie from 2011... That's Daddy Issues, baby!
-
Songs that invoke strong memories of their dads, that's what this episode of Daddy Issues is all about! Dave and Dom present 3 songs each, evaluate them and then discuss how these musical wonders have shaped their relationships with their fathers. The podcast only features small samples of each song to fit in with YouTube's Fair Use Policy, so we definitely recommend that you look up the full versions of the playlist as they go through them! We've linked to videos of each track below, (official where possible) just be warned of playlist spoilers!

What was it about Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade that pissed Dom off so much? Was it the graphic use of violence? Was it the affirmation of Judeo-Christian religious messaging? No, it was JJ Abrams. In this bonus episode, Dom Rants about how he feels the legacy of Steven Spielberg has been tainted and even compliments Zack Snyder! (There was a blue moon recently, maybe that is why!) He also says 'right?' a lot. You've been warned!

Do da do doo! Doo da doo! Do da do doo! Da da do do doo! Those Jones Boys are at it again! Taking down Nazis, recovering lost relics of the ancient world... making love to the same woman? We're going to cover it all on this week's Daddy Issues where we discuss Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade and the father/son relationship between Harrison Ford and Sean Connery.Edited out for your listening pleasure is an upcoming bonus episode and a return to the classic 'Dom Rants' segment on Awful Commentary, in which Dom explains why this much-beloved movie ruined modern cinema.
-
The boys talk about the father/son relationship between Danny and Jack Torrence, compare the movie to the book and then Dom gets a little too emotional when talking about how the text makes him feel.
-
Back by popular demand, Dave and Dom are here to talk about a COVID quarantine favourite with a strong father/son bond that made them emotional. This time it is an episode of Deep Space 9, The Visitor, and the boys are here to talk Trek, get nerdy, and definitely not well-up (if they can help it)
