  • This is a podcast episode I needed as a first time human mom, long time dog mom. We are getting all the tips on how to safely introduce your new baby to your fur babies. Dominika, also known as @dogmeetsbaby.expert on instagram is giving us all the tips and so the signs to look for when your dogs are uncomfortable and need space. She also shares a really scary experience with her own babies and dog and i think her mission to share safety tips to parents of human and fur babies is so needed. I think so much of the time parents just think everything is going to be fine or get lucky or just don't know how to introduce it in a safe way so they wing it and that's when the trouble can come.

What are most parents doing wrong when it comes to bringing their first born home and introducing to their fur babies? What are a few signs that we may confuse something for sweet or submissive behavior when its actually a sign the dog is stressed or we should remove baby What are some things we are can do to prep our dogs for bringing home our first or a new baby What should we teach our toddlers not to do to our dogs even if we think its cute Tips for parents when baby becomes mobile Which foods should we make sure our dog isnt doing cleaning up after baby.

  • Ben Smith may seem like an unlikely guest on this show because…well, he isn't a mom, or a dad for that matter! But after meeting him in Venice during an organifi meet up event to do breath work, it didn't take long to see that Ben has a lot to offer to not only this community but to anyone experiencing…well, being a human. You may recognize Ben from season 16 of the bachelorette, even though i didn’t, until i could not figure out why he felt so familiar and someone had mentioned that he had been on TV. His vibe didn't read reality star but rather quite grounded and full of fortune cookie nuggets that left me with some ideas to chew on. Ben is a fitness trainer and coach for high performers almost exclusively to musicians. We had the pleasure of experiencing his breathwork sessions, journaling and community building exercises. This one was one my personal favorite episodes to record and I really think anyone, especially in the thick of an identity shift or crisis, a hard season or just building confidence in general can benefit from.

** There is mention of suicide in this episode but I promise there is light at the end of this tunnel

  • Take your shoes off and get ready to hear all about the magic of grounding from the leading nationally and internationally respected expert, Laura Koniver MD. You may recognize her from multiple motion pictures as the expert protagonist such as The Grounded, Heal for Free, the award winning film Down To Earth, andThe Earthing Movie. I first found the earthing movie for the first time this summer and I was literally floored…or maybe just grounded by all the information that I was taking in. At this time I was living at my family's horseback riding academy in a tiny house with my 2 kids and husband. We were spending so much time outside AND barefoot that it was finally connecting as to why we were feeling so good. Why the kiddos craved being in the dirt from literally the moment their eyes opened. I immediately got my own dad and mom outside in the grass and to my surprise, my dad who has had multiple back surgeries and chronically has pain just from sitting, was literally running, like full on sprinting with my kids in the grass. My moms chronic knee pain? GONE. I'm just wondering why this isn't more public knowledge?? Maybe because it's free.

    We cover the following:

What is grounding and what isn’t grounding Can you ground through shoes, concrete, asphalt Why should we be grounding what are the health benefits What is the minimum amount of time for the benefits to work their magic Who needs to be grounding? Like can we get specific with health issues! Does this explain why we feel calm at the beach, lake, sand, forest etc? What scientifically is happening.

  • Today we are Diving into the science! I sit down with Deena Emera, an evolutionary biologist. She published a book "A Brief History of the Female Body." She has a master's in biological anthropology and a PhD in evolutionary biology. She studies the evolution of the female reproductive system in mammals. She is seriously smart and just looking at the topics of her studies is mindblowing. This conversation was incredibly interesting. Keep your mind open with this one as we take a look at the history of reproduction, and as Deena puts it, the maternal fetal conflict.

    background, education and your book.

Talk to me about the evolution of periods? Maybe while also explaining each of the phases of our cycles?

Talk to me about the relationship between the moon and our cycle phases?

Why do humans menstruate while most mammals do not?

Why do women in the US report more intense PMS symptoms than in other areas of the world? Why is this happening? And what does this say about our ancestors in relation to them experiencing PMS or not?

Can you talk about the Maternal–fetal conflict.

morning sickness happens due to genetic conflicts that exist between mother and child, Can you explain your thoughts on this?

What is something you wish more women knew about their cycles or hormones?

  • I am so excited to finally sit down with lauren from islagracesleep, this conversation has been in the works for a year or more at this point and it truly is the best timing because this conversation goes everywhere. Which of course i love.

Lauren earned a Bachelor of Education at McMaster University and Queensland University of Technology. She did Four years of teaching Junior Kindergarten through Grade 4, this inspired a passion for education and play-based learning.

These included the multitude of books, information, and people with strong opinions on the right way to be a mother. She quickly learned that the best parent to her child was herself and that in trusting her instincts, she would never go wrong.

With this belief, THREE pediatric sleep certifications, and Mohawk College’s Breastfeeding Program, Lauren launched Isla-Grace. • Ariel Taylor, founder of Carried with Love, is a Fertility Therapist, 5x surrogate, Infertility Advocate and Surrogacy Educator. Shes on a mission to help people understand and navigate the world of surrogacy in Canada through her experience in the industry and as a surrogate herself.I do want to mention that we speak about pregnancy loss and miscarriage so if you are not in a space to hear this episode you can find a different one until the time feels right. I hope you listen with an open heart and mind as this is a topic that is not widely discussed. I learned a lot and I hope you do too.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TRADITIONAL SURROGACY AND GESTATIONAL SURROGACY?

Who would be someone that would be looking for a surrogate?

Are there benefits to being a surrogate? Does surrogacy cost you anything as the one carrying the baby? Do you get to choose your OB? Do you have to do and eat in accordance with the intended parents wishes? Is this a career for some people? Are there any risks? Aside from general pregnancy risks, I want to know more about the mental and emotional risks of delivering babies to hand them off to the intended parents. Personally have you ever experienced sadness after going home without a baby? Through IVF, you can become pregnant with multiples, i assume as a surrogate, you have to agree to carry multiples? Who is an ideal surrogate? Are there any requirements? How do parental rights work? Have you seen complications happen with this? What happens after the baby is born? Are the intended parents in the delivery room? Is the baby nursed at all? Skin to skin?

  • The Matrescence app was born out of a desire to provide more maternal support after personally facing bouts of debilitating anxiety, feelings of loneliness, and in an attempt to seek validation and connection. They are two moms (Lauren is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and boy mom times three and Megan a marketing guru and mom of 3 under 6) on a mission to change the landscape of maternal mental health and to identify its role and importance to overall wellness. The Matrescence is a digital maternal mental health community + app providing a space to learn, heal, and grow.

  • This episode is for my bedsharing mamas. I am chatting with Tiffany of @cosleepy on instagram

In 2020 Tiffany founded Cosleepy, a cosleeping one-stop shop to help modern parents keep their babies safe and close at night.Tiffany is a frequent guest on podcasts and blogs, and she was recently interviewed in New York Magazine's viral article Are We All Secretly Co-sleeping?You are going to love this episode if you want to hear about all the magical ways that moms are connected to their babies and how biologically normal it is to bedshare with your little babe.

Explaining how bedsharing and sleeping with your newborn is the globally-preferred sleeping arrangement for humans and is biologically normal. It seems to be extremely controversial in the US and seems to be labeled as unsafe, “asking” for something bad to happen and even selfish. James McKenna refers to as “the articulated baby maternal micro-environment.” Talk to me about chest sleeping, is it “safe” are there safe ways to do it if necessary. What do you say to the mama that is currently chest sleeping with her baby and feels unsure or pressure to change it from outside voices What is sensory proximity and how does bedsharing impact this? I get questions all the time about bedsharing with a toddler and a newborn. What would be your advice and/or sleeping arrangements? Can you tell us the benefits of contact napping and what is happening to baby during this time.

She has a Bachelors of Science in Nursing, is a Certified Aromatherapist as well as an Instructor through The School For Aromatic Studies. She is also an author! She has written three books on using aromatherapy in the past year and is currently working on a fourth. This episode was really fun because personally i have been using young living for like 3-4 years and we use oils and infused products in our daily life but im not 100% how and why it really “works”. So learning more about the body and how scent and aroma can impact our stress and nervous system was really eyeopening for me. None of this episode is medical advice and like i always say, do your own research, you are the gate keeper of your home, its your duty to understand labels and find what works for you and your family. I hope you love this episode! With that said, llet's welcome Holly to the daily momtra podcast!

What is an aromatherapist? How does aromatherapy work? How important are surrounding scents to our mental and emotional state

-I saw your stories on the smell of fear, I thought this was so interesting in connecting it to children feeding off our emotions
