Crossover episode! Originally published as "Adding Latino Foods to the Kidney Patients Diet" under the Integrative IDEAs in Dietetics podcast. They were kind enough to let me use the audio from our episode to share with you here. In this episode I talk about many things I have not had a chance to yet such as the barriers I overcame as a first gen Mexican American in becoming an RD, my time working in a Maximum Security Prison and of course how I work every day to try to make the kidney diet culturally inclusive for my patients. I hope you enjoy this episode!

On this episode I give my thoughts on the question "Is Mexican Food Unhealthy?". As a Mexican American registered dietitian in the U.S. I feel Mexican food gets such a bad reputation and I'm here to set the record straight!
Apologies in advance as the sound varies a little during the episode. Growing pains. Thanks for listening!

Hi friends! In today's episode I talk about a few food culture lessons that I learned from taking part in Latin Restaurant Weeks. This is an organization that promotes and supports Latin cuisine restaurants. I support their mission because they are working to make these cuisines more visible among the general population like I am working to make different food cultures (including Latin food cultures) more visible among health care workers so we can make more appropriate nutrition recommendations. To learn more about them visit www.latinrestaurantweeks.com
**Also apologies, I referred to the restaurant as Cafe Andes but it's called Andes Cafe**
