In the inaugural episode, we talk about the aims for the podcast and present a rough road-map for the future. In this podcast series, I aim to tell you a detailed history of the Catholic Church from its foundations up to the present day. We’ve got about two thousand years of history to go over. And, man, some of it has GOT to be the most fascinating stuff that ever happened. I mean, come on. The Cadaver Synod? You can’t get much more strange and unique than that, the body of a pope was put on trial! What about St. Lawrence? When he was martyred by burning on a spit, he told his executors, “Turn me over, I’m done on this side.” He’s now the patron saint of comedians, roasters, and firefighters. A little on the nose? Maybe, but come on, it’s kinda funny, you have to admit.
