What does the future of work look like? In this episode of Leadership Playbook, Kathleen O’Connor, Clinical Professor of Organisational Behaviour and Director of Executive Education at London Business School, is joined by a distinguished panel, who discuss how the pandemic has changed perceptions of when and where work should be done, covering remote versus co-located working, flexible hours, and even four-day weeks. Finally, the panel looks at the rise of AI and how this has raised the question of ‘how work is done’ and even what the work is.

In this episode of Leadership Playbook, David Jackson, former Company Secretary of BP, joins Tom Gosling, Executive Fellow at the London Business School for a lively discussion on the topic. Using the example of oil and gas companies, David and Tom explore the role of the board versus the CEO when it comes to strategy development. They also consider board responsibilities around maximizing shareholder value balanced against environmental questions. Finally, they look at the role of shareholder preferences, board duties, and ethics, when it comes to ESG.

How can the boards of the future effectively harness the power of diversity? Hear from Tom Gosling, member of the advisory panel at the Financial Reporting Council and an Executive Fellow of Finance at London Business School, Randall Peterson, Professor of Organisational Behaviour and Academic Director of LBS’s Leadership Institute, and Vyla Rollins, Executive Director of the Leadership Institute and an expert in board dynamics and organisational behaviour. This conversation is based on the findings of the Board Diversity and Effectiveness in FTSE 350 Companies report, which was commissioned by the Financial Reporting Council. The creation of novel concepts, products and services is not a “magical act” say LBS’s Michael Parke and Pier Vittorio Manucci, Assistant Professors of Organisational Behaviour. The Senior Business Design Lead at IDEO shares her perspective on how she grows people’s creativity “muscle”. It turns out that a structured approach aimed at sharing, learning, open cultures can drive creative behaviours. It is hard work but anyone can become a better creative over time.
