Avni Panchal’s mission is to help people overcome the feeling of being an “imposter,” in both their personal and professional lives. Avni wants to support people in breaking free from the limitations that prevent them from reaching their true potential.
Avni is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has worked in mental health as a social worker, therapist, trainer and coach. As an Empowerment Coach, Avni specializes in assisting South Asians, and other individuals, who find themselves navigating multiple cultures.
Together we discuss the external and internal pressures faced by youth in South Asian culture when choosing a professional path, particularly in engineering and medicine. We explore the stigmas surrounding mental health in various cultures, including South Asian culture, and emphasize the importance of de-stigmatizing mental health and normalizing conversations about it. Avni mentioned the importance of following one's interests and doing something well, rather than conforming to societal expectations. We also discuss the challenges of self-doubt and limiting beliefs faced by moms, and the importance of recognizing and validating these feelings.

Dr. Emily King has spent the last 20 years working with neurodivergent children and teens along with their families and teachers in schools and private practice. She has been on both sides of the IEP and 504 meeting tables, first as a school psychologist and then as a parent. She knows the feeling of thinking you are out of ideas to support your child, which inspired her to help parents and educators beyond her therapy practice with online parent workshops and professional development trainings for teachers.
This episode’s conversation centered around the complexities of neurodiversity in children, including differences between boys and girls, and the importance of addressing concerns about children's development. Dr. Emily emphasized the need for involvement from teachers, understanding the differences between medical and psychological evaluations, and addressing anxiety in neurodiverse children. Prior to starting Universal Mom, Ruth led the nonprofit Self Esteem Council for 22 years, which focused on going into high schools to work with sophomores and juniors to help them change their perceptions of their lives and increase their self-esteem & confidence. Ruth is the author of 7 best-selling books. Her eighth and most recent book is titled “Conscious Connection.”

What if moms recorded their conversations when they got together? There’s something wonderful about having casual conversations on a specific topic when out to dinner, having coffee, drinking wine or on a walk with other moms. We wanted to capture these conversations and share them with you. In this episode and once a month going forward, we will be joined by some of our HER Circle members (HER Circle is the mom community created by HER Health Collective) for special episodes called, Mom Chats.

Ann Garcia is a mom of twins who are attending their top-choice colleges because they were able to get scholarship packages and made choices that best fit their family’s budget.
Ann is also a CFP® and owner of Independent Progressive Advisors, a fee-only Registered Investment Advisor in Portland OR, author of The College Financial Lady blog (thecollegefinanciallady.com). Her blog has approximately 15,000 subscribers in various media (blog, Facebook) and she is regularly cited in national media (New York Times, US News & World Report) on the subject of college planning.
In her work she realized that parents were asking the same questions and having the same concerns about college. She was also researching the answers for her own family. She took her knowledge and started writing down answers in blog format, and The College Financial Lady was born.
