Steven 'Spillano' Spillane is an Australian pilgrim who has been a dear friend of mine for 30+ years. Spillano walked with me in May on my magical musical Camino.
His job was to call "Buen Camino' in the second last chorus at the end of Somewhere Along the Way, and he performed his duty with gusto.
A true gentleman. Pure class. -
I'm super busy promoting my new album so I have fallen behind in pre-recorded episodes. I'll be re-visiting old eps from time to time. Martin Jamieson is a British-born Canadian businessman. He's an organised guy! So what did he learn about himself on the Camino; what did he learn about others....? And his Camino stories are pure gold.

Dan's new album 'Pilgrim' is released worldwide Friday October 4. You can get your copy here
'Pilgrim' is Dan's second album, a follow-up to 2019's Duende (four weeks at #2 on the ARIA Country Chart).
Pilgrim is an album of songs about the journey of life. Every life is a pilgrimage and every life has good days and bad days. This is a record of songs about lessons learned, of missteps believing better days are ahead. Ten songs of moody swirling melodies and hooks to catch your heart, refusing to let it free.
It was produced by Dan Frizza (who's worked with Tones & I, The Whitlams, Gurrumul, Bernard Fanning, Amy Shark) in July 2024. Recorded at Brooklet Recording in the Byron Bay hinterland, it features Miles Thomas on drums, Brendan Clark on bass, George Washingmachine on violin and Oliver Thorpe on guitars - a world-class band of studio musicians who bring these songs to life through their incredible insight.
Pilgrim takes you on a journey of belief and discovery you didn't know you needed, until now. One step at a time. -
I'm just taking a few weeks off to work on my new album, PILGRIM OUT OCTOBER 4
A re-visit of my chat with Canadian writer, author and poet Brad Batten joins me to talk about his eight Caminos - and many of them were walked before the Camino exploded in popularity. We talk about WHY we're interested in walking Caminos, and why the Camino in many ways chooses us. Journey is part of our heart. Brad's new book, Pilgrim is out next month via Amazon. Dan's younger sister Amanda walked as part of the Magical Musical Camino in May '24. Amanda didn't feel like she 'got' the Camino, but maybe, just maybe by the end she'd learned to be a little kinder to herself and to worry less and to take the time to slow down.
A beautiful message for all of us this week. Slow down, life races by too fast. -
Sarah Daley is an American pilgrim who runs yoga retreats on the Camino. Sarah was recently in Sydney and dropped by my house for a chat around the kitchen bench.

Australian pilgrim Michelle Pietroboni was ready to walk the Camino before the pandemic intervened. An accident while meditating meant it was a challenge physically, and the death of a beloved Aunt just prior to leaving meant it was also a challenge of the heart.
