We are joined by Sam White, co-Founder of Apiar Watches, and Porsche 911 owner. In fact this episode is pretty 911 centric, as his father bought the yellow 1971 Targa model the week Sam was born, and always promised the car to him when he was old enough. True to his word, the classic coupe is now in his ownership, complete with its uber-rare 6 pipe exhaust system, which is somewhat of an internet sensation!!
There is also passing mention of a Vauxhall Astra and some newer generation Volkswagen Sciroccos.
Another great chat, and we hope you enjoy this one as much as we did recording it.Support the show

We're joined for this episode by a fellow podcaster, one half of the Tyre Kickers!
Matt shares podcasting notes, but also delights in sharing with us his earliest car memories.
From playing in Dad's Citroen and Bedford van through to a play shed complete with the interior of a Bedford van, we also touch on Alfa Sud's, getting insurance quotes as a newly qualified driver and then finish on driving the local Milkfloat every week aged only ten!!
This is a great light hearted chat, and we hope you will enjoy it as much as we did making it.

Welcome back to season 5 of My Dad's Car!
We are joined by Paul Gardner from SpeedBroker who found us through our popular social media game 'Car Spotting Tennis' in which we trade interesting vehicle spots with a racquet sports twist.
It was a black Citroen BX that Jon spotted that used to belong to Paul's Dad.
He had a run of mundane cars Paul recalls...
Boring stuff - Toyota Corolla, Citroen BX (boring at the time), Nissan Primera, Almera, Mum's Mini, Morris Minor the list goes on...
Along with the rebellion from his parents bade taste was his Uncle's taste in motor vehicles that lit the spark, firstly a pair of matching Tornado Red Mk2 Golf GTI's, then his Mk3 Cavalier GSI 'was the fastest car in the world' when he was a kid!
We also explore music (Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen) breaking down in a tunnel in a friends Skoda Rapide...

Join us for a lighthearted look back at Goodwood Revival 2024.
Andy was there on a very damp Friday, and Jon enjoyed a slightly drier visit with his wife on the Saturday.
Talk wafts from first impressions, through to ticket touts, the use of cigars as a celebratory token, our friend Tim Crighton (previous guest) scoring pole position in an Austin Healey, and following that up with a stellar battle on track in the race, bagging a frustrating second place (as the race was red flagged whilst he was leading).
We take a tangent on Oasis, and have a foray into F1 too.
We hope you enjoy it!

Join us for a quick chat 'off topic' on the subject of number plates.
This came up when we spoke to Danny James, and this bonus episode was born out of the out-takes from that recording session, along with a more structured secondary discussion to fill in the gaps.
We hope it keeps you mildly entertained!

Join us for a great chat with Sheridan from We Blog Any Car for a trip down memory lane.
It starts with his Dad's Vauxhall Viva in bright metallic green (with the obligatory vinyl roof), and in juxtaposition, his colleagues and customers Audi 100s with their 5 cylinder engines.
His Dad didn't drive fast (whilst listening to country music or Boney-M on his Pioneer radio cassette with electric aerial) but he was fond of a wheelspin in the wet, and once tried to race a Mazda RX7...
After the Viva came a brown Mk2 Cavalier saloon, which he later 'facelifted' with parts from work. A bit like the 'One bit at a time' song by Jonny Cash.
Much to our joy, the Citroen BX comes up in discussion, belonging to a teacher at school. Likewise a Mk1 Golf GTI with which the keys were trusted to Sheridan to go and retrieve things by his teacher, should any school stuff be left inside during lessons.
Talk then changes to suggestions for classic cars and investment cars of the future. The Mk1 Audi TT is Andy's choice, Sheridan albeit with bias is backing the Alfa GTV and Spyder of the late nineties.
We discuss what cars need to have or not have to make the cut, and we feel part of this is a lack of availability, perhaps having fallen out of favour or been a bit rubbish when first available. The MG ZR or the Proton Satria GTI might just make the mark.
We hope you enjoy this episode (one of our longest to date) and if you do, please consider supporting us by buying a coffee or donating on a monthly basis.

We're joined for this episode by Andy's cousin Sally Alington. By day she is the Founder and CEO of Ethos Farm and high flying business woman, at the weekends she loves going for a drive in her Ford Mustang... A car that was not at all influenced by her parents choices, except perhaps for the fact they named her Sally!
Expect stories of matresses in the back of Mini vans, a Citroen 2CV with a roll back roof (which Sally and her brother Luke would stand up and look out through).
There's talk of a carpet cleaning business (hence the mini Van) and Sally's Mum Angela gets lots of airtime, having previously worked as a London Taxi Driver.
Her Nan is also a key part to this episode, choosing to leave her keys in her car so she wouldn't lose them in the house - in fact leaving them in the ignition, but hiding them behind a winter glove!
Lastly we finish on tales of holiday hire cars, a free Porsche wedding car and a Business Class day trip to New York with her Dad for her 13th birthday.
We hope you enjoy this one, and please leave us a review if you do.

Jamie Orr joins us for a chat about all things automotive from his younger years. Growing up in Scotland there were Minis, Metros and Ford Sierras. Later on, he moved down south and was taught to drive at the legendary TRL (home of GTI International).
His Dad used to restore motorbikes in a high rise flat, had a manual lathe from a submarine, and bought a Lotus Elise as his company car! But both of his parents are petrol heads - now driving a VW Beetle and Mk4 Golf with BBS alloys!
We touch on the DVLA in Swansea, how this may have been a 'gift' from the Government in lieu of closing the coal mines. In fact the DVLA was formed in Swansea in 1965 and the mines closed in the 1980's but it was a nice theory!
We also speak about how Jamie got into VWs (his grandparents Scirocco Storm may have been a slight influence) but he bought his first when he moved to the USA.
We hope you enjoy these tales and many more in this great episode.

Yep! You read that right, we will be appearing in the all new Podcast Lounge on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th November at the NEC Classic Motor Show.
(Yes, this should have been a full episode this week, but this news needed to be shared!)
We were over the moon to be asked to take part and we have been named alongside Auto Alex and Driven as podcasts which will be appearing in the recent press release sent out by the organisers.'
To say we're excited is an understatement - we had a great time at this venue earlier in the year when we recorded a fabulous bonus episode, so the chance to do that, and also appear in front of an audience doing what we do is simply wonderful!
Stay tuned - we've been promised a discount code for tickets, and potentially even a pair to give away to one lucky listener!

We are joined this week by Max Newman, a die hard car enthusiast and one third of the 9Werks Podcast team.
Max tells us about Citroen Dyanes, White Mk1 Golf L which his Mum got a speeding ticket in, Mk2 Golf GTI's driving to get the Michael Jackson Bad album, Phil Collins No Jacket Required and Philip Bailey Chinese Wall on casette.
There's plenty of kit car chat from Sylva Leaders to a Ginetta G33 - the very first in fact, a bright yellow machine which was test driven by CAR magazine, and his father later took to Isle of Man with him to watch the TT. There are Austin 7 specials sat in an Apple loft in Norfolk and an Audi S2 that Max wishes he'd saved from his Fathers neglect after the keys got lost.
It's another belter, and we really hope you enjoy it. It also marks 50 episodes since we began recording My Dad's Car.

The first time we have done a full in person podcast, and it wasn't without its troubles... However, Danny James was a great guest, very accommodating in his workshop at home, and across two takes we managed to get all the audio and most of the video.
Yep! There's an actual video of this conversation.. Check it out here. https://youtu.be/zMJByStJ_Oc
Expect stories about a purple Ford Capri, with 4 kids in the back. Teddy Boy Fords, Land Rovers and buying brand new cars at midnight so you could have the latest registration letter in the morning.
A great chat, and one we are most grateful for having. We'd initially said we would do this back when we started, but Danny sadly lost his Dad, and we felt it best for him to take some time to get his thoughts in order first.

We're joined by Matt Godfrey, an artist who works under the 'Drawn by Matt' alias.
We chat about old Fords, Metros, the embarrassment of his childhood friends seeing the cars his parents had, as he lived next to the school!
We discuss the NEC Classic Car show, Goodwood Revival, and inadvertently start planning our own 'fancy dress' classic car event aimed at the slightly lower end of the market.
It's a great chat, and we hope you enjoy it too.

Paul's a car collector / car hoarder and has appeared on Jonny Smith's Late Brake Show Car Cave - check out the episode here - Secret barn collection of Porsches, M3s and JDM cars - Car Caves - YouTube
Our talk starts with a yellow Vauxhall Chevette, but takes a few side turns and ends up with a chat about buying classic cars from neighbour's driveways on Halloween!

Join us for a quick chat about Car Spotting Etiquette.
With the response to our Car Spotting Tennis is shows no signs of slowing up, so we'll continue for now - but there are some rules we have put in place.
The cars need to be in a public place, either a car park or on the road.
If the car is parked on a drive, or behind a block of flats, then it doesn't count...
It comes down to how you would feel if someone was snooping around your stuff really, and I do value a bit of privacy. I don't mind if someone photographs my car, but keep my house and my family out of it!
So, there you go... Hope you enjoy this little bonus, if you haven't listened to the latest full episode yet go and check it out, and the next one will drop on Tuesday!Support the show

We're joined by Jay from Players Classic, Players Shows, Flat 6 Show, Hoonigan and star of many PVW magazine features for this fantastic episode.
Come with us, back in time to when Skoda's were seriously uncool - His Dad had many of them! Fortunately in Jay's words, he knew how to take care of himself, otherwise it would have been a very unpleasant time at school.
Jay's Dad also had a Rover P6 with the number plate 999 BAN - and he was a Police Officer!!
Other stories in this episode include his Aunt Mick's Ford Fiesta Supersport and she was arguably responsible for getting Jay into cars.
The Fiesta later got part exchanged for a Honda Civic, which eventually ended up with Jay after she passed away - and he ran that car into the ground.

This week we're joined by Dave Carey from Adelaide in Australia!
Yep! The good work we have been doing has trickled down under, and we're gathering some momentum, which attracted motoring journalist and petrol head Dave to get in touch with us.
Dave's father passed away when he was just over 5 years old, but he still has some strong memories of his car, he also recalls his Mums car, and their matching number plates.
Conversation also covers an ex partner of his Mum's who robbed a service station to fund his motorsport season, and a kid at his school who's parents owned one of only a handful of Brock Directors.
We may be more used to home grown saloons than Holden Utes, but this conversation proved that these memories and good story telling will survive, even if told from another continent.
Thanks again Dave for coming on - our first truly international guest, dialing in from overseas.
Enjoy!

The first episode of Season 4 really sets the bar high (but panic not, we've got some great guests waiting in the wings too), Steve Waddingham is the official company historian for none other than Aston Martin Lagonda, but when he's not researching old colour names, and digging out race cars from dusty barns, he's behind the wheel of his own Austin Allegro! Yep... you read that right!
We talk about his Father's Austin Cambridge, him working at his Dad's garage fixing cars. His Grandad who was a chauffeur, but typically drove a Morris Minor not a Daimler like everyone else - at the request of his employer!
Think you're gonna love this one!

Jon and Andy are joined by Russell Quirk who recalls countless tales of his Dad's cars.
He reckons his Dad swapped cars every 6 months, and we're not just talking old Ford Escorts (although he had an RS2000) we're talking E-Types, Aston Martin's, Rolls Royces, TVR, Porsche and more.
Russell's Dad was an Estate Agent in Essex, and liked to show off a little as to how successful he was. In later life he got into Car Dealerships, and was known as Mazda Man due to his brand allegiance.
Russell's proudest tale is the story of tracking down the personalised number plate that used to be worn by his father's Aston Martin V8 Vantage, until, one day when he came home from work without it, as it had been sold... with the 4 digit plate GO 92.
Many years later Russell chanced upon the plate for sale and simply had to buy it!
So it now lives on one of his own cars in tribute to his late father.
We hope you enjoy this one as much as all the others. A big thanks to Russell for coming on to talk with us.Support the show
