We symbolize hope. We are fireflies finding glimmers of light from within even in moments of darkness. My name is Julie Rocco, and my purpose is to offer hope, healing, and happiness to individuals struggling with thoughts of suicide. In the depths of my own attempted suicide, I could not manifest thoughts of hope for a better, brighter future. The enduring pain and suffering eclipsed any glimmer of light, love, and life beyond the shadows of my pain. Hope was snuffed and suicide became my only option. I, like many others, am one of the fortunate who survived. This podcast will share "Rays of Light" illuminating What I Would Have Missed moments from individual submissions. We will also have more in-depth conversations with survivors of an attempted suicide and those who struggle with thoughts of suicide and ask them to reflect on their journey from suicide to living a life that considers and celebrates "What I Would Have Missed." The podcast will also feature family, friends, and colleagues of the guest as well as professionals in the fields of health and wellness. Listen anywhere you get your podcasts, and please rate and review the podcast and share it with others, if you enjoy it. At least 20% of New Zealanders are believed to be neurodivergent, but there is very little awareness, understanding and support for people with conditions such as ADHD, Autism and Dyslexia.
Sonia Gray has a neurodivergent daughter and is an ADHDer herself. In this 10-part series she’ll talk to dozens of experts and people with a lived-experience of neurodiversity to better understand how we can support and celebrate those whose brains are wired differently.
No Such Thing as Normal is brought to you by NZ Herald and Team Uniform, with support from NZ on Air and launches June 10th. New episodes are available every Saturday.

On the show we talk about the topics that we as a society tend to sweep under the rug. You know, all of those kaupapa that we don't really talk enough about! From sex to gender identity, drugs to depression, religion to money. Each episode will feature a new topic and guest!
We want to help open up opportunities for others to start having conversations, and to not be whakamā about learning and asking questions! This space is about having courageous conversations, about being open that we don't know stuff, and challenging some of the whakaaro that we do have! We're not promising to have all the answers, but we simply want to akiaki (encourage) our communities to talk!
Hosted by Anatola Finau and Tahu Hollis. Powered by Creative Nātives.
