  • This bedroom mix was recorded as a DJ demo nearly 20 years ago with a pair of Technics 1200s and a Numark Pro-SM3 mixer; it contains a splendid set of late nineties techno featuring both familiar and more obscure artists. My motivation for re-releasing this mix was due to receiving a text from my friend Owen (formerly known as Owen The Soyboy and more commonly known nowadays as The RhythmDial); I gave him a copy of this mix back in the day, and he wished to feature it on his show on Fnoob Techno Radio, Inner Loop. I was honored to receive such exposure, particularly since I was working my way back into the DJ realm. The show was only 60 minutes long, so it could not feature the full mix, so I am presenting it for you now, dear listener. The mix subtitle comes from the final track, which was a common thrift store find at the time the mix was created.Tracklist: 1 Pilgrimage album, track A1 (Method 11:11 METHOD 005)by Murat 2 Ventil (søk 5)by U-Matic-X 3 Device (The Dielectric Coefficient, Infrastructure New York INF001)by Function 4 Subway EP, track A2 (Kanzleramt KA22)by Richard Bartz 5 Out (Test EP, Tresor 104)by Dave Tarrida & Tobias Schmidt 6 Low Profiles, side C (Hybrid Productions HYB013)by Cari Lekebusch 7 Hallucinate (Digital Future EP, Thrust Records TST007-6)by Lester Fitzpatrick 8 The Drone Sector (Peace Frog PF078)by Planetary Assault Systems 9 Scorpion 1 (Animal Trax, Spira SPI005)by Spira 10 High (High Alarm EP, Loop Records LOOP039)by Mark Seven 11 Track from Food for Thoughts 2x12" (Hybrid Productions HP1207)by Joel Mull & Cari Lekebusch 12 Tracks for Monostress Blue, side A (Monostress Blue LIKITB04)by Marco Carola 13 Elixer (Medicine Drum, Tronic TR006)by Bryan Zentz 14 Ulterior Motives, side B (Missile Music 23)by Kikoman 15 Elektrostatik (Plus 8 PLUS8033)by Plastikman 16 The Giant Love Ball Song (Hi God! 00:56:11 Wana Bi Artificial Intelligence (Industrial Techno United, 2017, TTU080)

  • Tonight's show begins with a personal favorite that I rarely get to play. In 1993, in the wake of Mark Gage's international techno hit "Gravitational Arch of 10" as Vapourspace, Fred Giannelli (AKA Plus 8 Records producer The Kooky Scientist) released a collaboration on his label Telepathic Recordings between Gage and fellow Rochesterian, industrial/body music producer Coleman Horn (C/Sphere of the Artillerymen On A Toot.) The 12-inch was released as Microset Morning.

The unique synth sound on this track comes from the Multivox Firstman SQ-01, a monophonic sequenced baseline synth similar to the TB-303 but with its own unique sound due to differences in the filter.

Coleman Horn had to eventually sell the Firstman at a time when he was strapped for cash. I was offered the opportunity to purchase the Firstman at a party, but did not have the funds to do so. True story.
