Callie touches on replacing a passion with another one or ways to feel less burnt out with all your free time, Callie talks about it all (while also talking about other things too).

Callie also describes why students are so burnout in many ways and how they can’t win, but why we can and the emotions attached to it. She says that we need to experience the hardships that comes with school to ultimately feel better, and that they create who we are as students.

In this week’s episode, Callie talks all about apologizing and forgiveness. Callie works to break down how we think about forgiveness by explaining that in a lot of situations, we need to be able forgive ourselves and others in order to move on and make that relationship better. However, the way we are taught to forgive is flawed, and that we must decide how we forgive ourselves, and the implications it has on the people that apologize to us.

In this week’s episode, Callie discussed what we should do if we are the most egotistical smart person in the room, or if we aren’t and that behavior is making us feel bad about ourselves. Callie also dives into academic competition, self esteem, and the public school system to really show how our egos have been built up academically and why it might not be the best for us. Callie stresses the need to help others in the classroom who are struggling to break down our academic egos, or to focus more on ourselves if we find ourselves comparing ourselves to other students. We need to be able to help others in the classroom, and sometimes being separated by our intelligence isn’t the best thing for us. Callie encourages listeners to remember to think clearly, and show others compassion when they don’t get it.

In this week’s episode, Callie explains why it’s ok to be hard on yourself, why it’s ok to have high expectations, and how these things are kind of necessary for change and growth. By disagreeing with an existentialist idea, Callie states why it is important to first decide for yourself how you are going to be hard on yourself, and why high expectations are nuanced, not black and white as we like to think they are.

In this week’s episode, Callie talks all about academic validation! She explains that it’s a tricky subject; academic validation itself can either help you are harm you academically. It can make you more competitive, thinking that your success is tied to others’ failure, and that that will make you feel better. While other failures might make you feel better, it won’t fulfill you. Academic success will always be an internal thing, and that we should move away from tying it to validating our self worth in order to actually be successful. However, failure and burn out can be necessary to our success, as it can force us to rethink our approach to success and how we attack our goals. It can clarify what we really need and want for ourselves, and make us see what is actually important for us to succeed in academics.

By explaining how she herself is going to get out of her current funk, Callie hopes to inspire listeners to find out what works best for for them. Callie also details what she hopes her new routine will be and what it will look like to show others the importance of restructuring your day. In addition to this, Callie compiles her research on what she found to be best beat ways to get yourself out of a funk, and why active rest is so important. Ultimately, if you do your best to get yourself out of a funk, you are doing a great job!

In this week’s episode, Callie discusses identity and how it comes from within yourself. Touching on self worth, self love, and acceptance as aspects of identity, Callie explains that they all come from within yourself and are dictated by you. Moreover, that they shouldn’t rely on other people, and should not be impacted by our reputation. They all depend on you. Callie posits that although our existence may seem insignificant in the moment, it is actually empowering. We are part of a bigger plan/picture, but our existence is somewhat slightly significant. This should empower us to make different choices then what we think we should do, and not form who we are based on other people. So, buckle up because this episode gets DEEP! :)

In explaining what makes us happy and content, Callie connects the ideas of fulfillment and contentment to happiness, and why they are so important. She also discusses the value of finding things that we are passionate about, as well as trusting the process. ‘If we aren’t happy in some aspect of the process is it worth it?,’ Callie asks. Callie also touches on certain roadblocks that can make it hard to be happy, and sometimes we need to experience the bad to fully realize and value the good. Positivity and happiness are stigmatized, which results in us doing what we are influenced to do, Callie implies. In this week’s episode, Callie answers the question: why do we hurt the people we love? By bringing in her own experience, Callie explains that we are all a bit broken, and we act certain ways towards others because we haven’t fully processed certain aspects of our lives. Because of this, certain people we love and are close to cause us to react with anger, frustration, or sadness when our insecurities are brought up. Callie ends the episode by talking about where she is now, and what she plans to do in the future to be more cognizant when it comes to interacting with friends and family.

In this week’s episode, Callie talks all about conflict in friendships and what she’s learned (recently and from previous years) about friendships. Without giving specifics, Callie becomes vulnerable by opening up about boundaries and hurtful things she’s said in friendships that has led to conflict. However, Callie remains hopeful and optimistic by reminding listeners that we cannot dwell on the past and our past behavior, but that we can only learn from it. Callie also explains that these issues are always changing (as many things are) so she will continue to talk about what she’s learned through reflection! When I treat conflict as a learning experience and take accountability for my actions, that’s when the real work begins. :)

In discussing both the pros and cons of cancel culture, Callie discusses that society needs to create more a culture that encourages conversation and discussion to bring improvement and change. In giving specific examples, Callie illustrates her ideas about the topic and encourages people to talk about an issue, rather than being divided and polarized on one.

Callie explains that it could be because of the decreasing interest in teens to learn certain subjects or see the importance (or lack thereof) these subjects. Callie then gives some advice on how to become motivated to do schoolwork again, in hopes of providing an action plan for listeners, not just an answer to the question.
