Kendrick Johnson attended his first three periods of high school in Valdosta, GA on January 10, 2013. However, he would not make it through that day alive, yet he never left the grounds of his high school. He was found almost 24 hours later, in one of the gyms. His body was upside down in a rolled up wrestling mat that was standing up vertically. After a decade of investigation, 2 exhumations, 3 autopsies and the case being closed and then reopened again, Kendrick's cause of death has still been ruled accidental. Kendrick's family continues to fight for the truth and for someone to be held responsible for the death of their son because the circumstances around his death are far too suspicious and the investigation has had way too many inconsistencies to be ignored.
A young man went to school and was not safe, period. He went to school and died. This is never ok under any circumstances, accident or no accident.
Join us as we discuss the tragic death of a young man taken from this earth way too soon and please watch the documentary that Molly references - Finding Kendrick Johnson by Jason Pollock.

On September 6, 1949, in just 12 minutes, 13 lives were lost to a mass shooter on River Road in Camden, NJ. Unlike today, mass shootings were not a regular event that was normalized on the news. In a post World War II era, automatic guns were relatively new and held mostly for military use, not often seen in public. However, on this day, the mundane activities of a Tuesday morning were interrupted by gun fire as a World War II veteran walked down the street that he lived on and fired upon his own neighbors' homes and businesses.
This case has been coined as America's first mass shooting, and the shooter, as the first "lone wolf"
type shooter.
These terms may be common today, but this type of event was unprecendented at the time. However it will go to show that more than 70 years later, our country has not made much progress in our prevention of these types of such occurrences and the devastation that it brings to not only the victims, but families of the victims, the survivors and the communities at large.

Julie Williams and Lollie Winans were well versed in hiking, camping and wilderness trips. On May 19, 1996 they arrived at Shenadoah National Park with a plan to hike and camp along portions of the Appalachian Trail. Their permit intinerary had them scheduled to leave the park on May 27, 1996. Ony May 31st, Park Rangers were alerted by Julie's father, that the women had not yet returned home and upon their initial investigation, Park Rangers found Julie's car remained where they had parked it back on May 22nd. By all accounts, it appeared the women ever made it out of the park. By June 1st, an official search was underway.
This episode was inspired and driven by the research provided in the book Trailed: One Women's Quest To Solve the Shenandoah Murders by Kathryn Miles, where look at just the tip of the ice berg of this case, and all that this amazing book contains.

After being lured out of her home by four older teenage girls, Shanda Sharer, only 12 years old, was brutalized for more than 9 hours until her death the following morning on January 11, 1992.
The death of a child never makes sense. The death of a child at the hands of individuals who are all still children as well, between the ages of 15 and 17, makes even less sense.
In her short time on earth, Shanda brought light into this world and had an energy that attracted others to her and she was willing to be a friend to all. She was not allowed to share all that she had to offer in its full capacity because her life was cut short by the acts of four others... three that had never even met her. This case is baffling... because we all ask why? Even to this day... why? And there will never be any solid answers. All we can do is hope for some kind of positive actions by the perpetrators moving forward.

Alex VanDalsen was a 21 year old trans man who died in Lafayette, Indiana. Law enforcement quickly ruled his death a suicide. Yet there was no blood splatter, no bullet casings and the coroner miss marked bullet entrance/exit wounds. A gun was found under Alex, law enforcement declared it was Alex's and the weapon he used to take his life. As far as anyone in Alex's life knew...Alex didn't own a gun. Plus this may not have been the weapon used to kill Alex. No guns shot residue tests were made...nada because no investigation was done. In the episode I mention Tippecanoe Sheriff's were ranked 50% out of 100% in effectiveness, they are now 47% and Lafayette Police who were also ranked 50% out 100% are now ranked 49%...both are failing miserably! Do your fucking jobs Indiana Sheriffs and city Police! -
The Trailside Killer emptied State and National Park trails in the Northern California area in the late 1970s and early 1980s as it was no longer a safe place to be. Male or female, alone or in a group. With a dog or without one. It seemed that no one was safe even in broad daylight. With the help of a spot on profile by founding FBI profiler John Douglas and the gut instinct of a young woman that unfortunately did fall victim to this man, David Carpenter's killing spree was brought to an end and he currently sits as the oldest living inmate on death row in San Quentin.

On this episode we delve into the mysterious case of the Yuba County 5. In February of 1978, a group of five men, referred to endearingly as "The Boys" by their families, watched a basketball game at Chico State University and on their travels home, ended up traveling approximately 70 miles in the wrong direction from home. The end up on a rural gravel road in the foothills of the forest. At least, this is where the car they were traveling in ended up. None of the men would be seen alive again, and only 4 of the 5 men would be found. No parts of this case make sense and all we are left with is families left with the loss of a loved one and no real answers as to who, why, how or what... Was is supernatural? Was it foul play? Was it happenstance? There are so many theories out there and no concrete answers or evidence as to what happened to the Yuba County 5

On May 28, 1998, the famous comedic actor Phil Hartman was murdered in his Los Angeles home by his wife, Brynn, before she also took her own life.
We discuss the life and career of Phil Hartman and the tragic events that seemed to unfold up until the early morning hours where he is found deceased at home.
Although much is known about Phil's life, his death leaves behind many more questions than answers. -
In this episode, Cody & Molly keep it California-centric and discuss the murders of 5 individuals, including 2 children at a beautiful home in the beach town of Soquel. The victims, Dr. Victor Ohta, Virgina Ohta, their 2 sons and Dr. Ohta's Personal Assistant, Dorothy Cadwallader were found when firefighters were alerted to the crime scene after the home had been set on fire. These murders and the hunt for the person or people responsible created an even larger divide in the community and fueled the anti-hippie sentiment that was already prevalent at this time. Given a threatening note found at the crime scene, did we have another Manson family on our hands? Law enforcement was working against the clock to make sure that those responsible were apprehended as quickly as possible and that the community was kept safe.

In the early morning hours of April 18, 2016 as Missy Bevers arrived at the location where her fitness class was to be held, she was unaware of the fact that there was an unknown assailant wandering the hallways of the facility waiting for her arrival. As the lone killer roamed the hallways waiting for Missy to arrive they are clearly captured on surveillance footage wearing a full tactical police uniform that appeared to be several sizes too large. However, even with this clear footage this case remains unsolved and Missy's killer remains unidentified.

John Douglas, one of the founding fathers of the profiling unit at the FBI posed a thought...What if werewolves and witches were how those from Europe and early America explained away the original serial killers? Instead of coming to terms with the atrocities that your neighbors performed, you instead blamed it on the occult or the supernatural?
We take a quarter pike, so very mini history dive into the long history of werewolfery and discuss two historical cases from the late 1500's and early 1600's that will have you give John Douglas statement some extra thought.

In 2008, an 11 year old boy and the family's 57 year old housekeeper were found brutally murdered inside of a family home in an affluent neighborhood of Omaha, Nebraska. Despite multiple eyewitnesses seeing the actual person that committed the murders, because he was unknown in the area, these murders went unsolved for 5 years. In 2013, 2 more brutal murders occurred with a link to the first set of murders that would blow the case wide open and finally bring the killer to justice.
