Episode Title: Problems at Manchester United
Episode #9
You are listening to Pitch Perfect the podcast with your host Chris Turnbull.
In this episode of Pitch Perfect the podcast we discuss: the problems with Manchester United.
Segment 1: OwnersBefore we begin, before we are competing at the level Manchester United need to be, there needs to be a full clearout everywhere and everything needs to change.
Lets play a game, what is the biggest problem at Manchester United? SOUND EFFET the owners of the club. The glazers have been ruining the team for years and it is a very good sign that we are getting Sir Jim and INEOS and hopefully it will lead to the Glazers leaving. Lets dip our feet in the water SOUND EFFECT with all the problems with the Glazers
Bad things the Glazers doDon’t put their own money in the clubTake dividends from the clubBought the team from debt and still has debt on the clubRuined the stadium and training groundsHave hired terrible people in roles such as the scouting networkOverpaid for playersPaul Pogba, Antony, Harry Maguire, Sancho, Lukaku, Di Maria are top 6 most expensive playersMoving on to the new minority owners, I do like what Sir Jim has done so far. At first I wanted Qatar as it would’ve been a full takeover and full ownership but seeing Newcastle now it’s almost like the money doesn’t matter.
Sir Jim did a good job hiring a new CEO away from City and have been looking to get big names for roles that have been terrible for many years. Controversially, I also like the idea of selling big earners in the summer such as Casimero. First he hasn’t played in a very long time and second if we want to change how we do things then not paying crazy wages for players is a good way to change.
Segment 2: PlayersAny Man United fan knows that for us to be successful there needs to be a clearout of the players and before I say anything Ten Hag is the man to lead this rebuild. There are so many players that need to go, it’s like a traffic jam of just dead weight players SOUND EFFECT. The only players currently that should be corner stones for this rebuild is Mainoo, Garnacho, and Hojlund. That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t keep players like Bruno and Lisandro, but those

Episode Title: International vs. Club
Episode #7
You are listening to Pitch Perfect the podcast with your host(s) Me.
In this episode of the Podcast we discuss: the difference in International soccer vs club soccer.
Segment 1: Difference in Play Style and TrophiesIf you watch international soccer, the last world cup for example, you would see that there is a slight difference on how teams play, more specifically club teams and international teams. You could see that play is definitely slower and they keep possession more. If these were your thoughts about how the game is played, you’d be correct, and there are stats to back this up.
International teams play more passes per sequence (3.9)-(3.3)International teams are slower to progress the ball towards the goal (1.45 mps)-(1.64 mps)International teams average 12.5 sequences of 10 or more passes, club teams average 8.6Although this may sound crazy and very strange at first, there are definitely reasons as to why this is the case. The first and biggest reason for all of this is due to the playing time and consistency of the squads. Club teams have full pre-seasons and months of training in order to teach and commit to the coaches preferred tactics. National teams only ever have a few weeks at a time during international breaks, and a few weeks is being generous. Most of the time, they get a week or 2 at a time with 2 or 3 games during friendly international breaks. And they get very minimal time to prepare for major tournaments and games. The trophies in International soccer are more wanted and more meaningful then club competitions. Most major international competitions take place once every 4 years, like the World Cup and Euros. There is also a certain pride in representing your country, which you grew up in and have a very strong connection to for the most part.

Episode Title: History of La Liga
Episode #6
You are listening to Pitch Perfect the podcast with your host(s) Me.
In this episode of Pitch Perfect the Podcast we discuss: The Real Mardid and Barca Dominance, and brief history.
Segment 1: Real Madrid and Barca DominanceAs you can probably tell from the episodes that I have already posted, I am more of a Premier League guy. It’s what I focus on, and I don’t watch nearly as much La Liga as Prem. The one thing I do know about La Liga is that it’s a league that basically consists of 2 teams, Real and Barca. They are the teams with the titles, the best players, all the money, and the fanbases.
Number of La Liga titles
Real Madrid- 35Barca- 27Everyone else- 30La Liga titles since 2000
Real Madrid- 8Barca- 11Everyone else- 4Atletico Madrid- 2, Valencia- 2 (both before 2005)
El Clasico is the biggest rivalry in all of sports, even though I love the prem derby and all of the American sports ones, there’s no doubt its the best. I always thought that the rivalry was only because of them being the two best teams in the country, but an article by onefootball says a reason for it is their opposing political views, which I found interesting.
In total competive matches, there have been 205 matches, Real Madrid have won 103, Barca 100, and 52 draws, so Real Madrid barley has the upper hand.
Segment 2: Brief HistoryLa Liga was officially formed in 1929, having only 10 teams in the competition at this point. In total, there have been 62 teams that have participated. The best display of dominance was in the 60’s and 70’s when Real Madrid won 14 league titles over this time period. La Liga has produced the most Champions League winning teams (19) and their players have won the most ballon d’ors (24).

Episode Title: World Cup History
Episode #4
You are listening to Pitch Perfect the podcast with your host Chis Turnbull.
In this episode of Pitch Perfect the Podcast, we discuss: The counties with the most World Cups and The tournament's greatest-ever players.
Segment 1: Countries with the most World CupsAccording to a statista.com graph, there have only been 8 countries to ever win a World Cup
Brazil, 5Germany, 4Italy, 4Argentia, 3Uruguay, 2France, 2Spain, 1England, 1
Brazil has had some great players and teams, including Pele, Ronaldinho, OG Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos, Kaka, Cafu, and there is just an endless list of others, but recently they haven’t been able to get over the hump, even though they have been considered by many to be the most talented team in most of the recent world cups. Germany has had success all throughout the history of the World Cup, winning 4 of them, each about 20 years apart from the 50’s to that legendary 2014 tournament,Italy had a lot of success very early, winning the second and third ever tournament, they also won in 82 and 2006. They’re a country known for their strong and solid defenseArgentina has obviously just won the Qatar World Cup, winning Messi the most undeserved Ballon d’or ever, but thats besides the point. Argentina also won 2 earlier world cups, with Maradona being on both teams.Uruguay won the first ever World Cup, which they also hosted in 1930. They won their second 20 years later, and have never won a World Cup sinceFrance has obviously been very successful as of late, winning the World Cup in 2018 and being the finalist in the Qatar World Cup, it was a great final. They also won the tournament when they hosted in 1998 with a great team led by Zidane and henrySpain won their only World Cup in 2010 led by a Barcelona midfield of Xavi, inestia, Busquets England won their only World Cup when they hosted back in 1966. They have been to 2 semifinals but couldn’t get it done in their golden generation in the 90’s

Episode Title: Popularity of Soccer
Episode #1
You are listening to Pitch Perfect with your host Chris Turnbull.
In this episode of Pitch Perfect, we discuss: How soccer grew in popularity, The World Team of the Decade for the 1890’s, and continuing about the growth.
Segment 1: How it grew in popularityAs we all know, Soccer is the most popular sport in the world, and a sport that has plenty of history and has been played for a very long time. Obviously there are stories of people kicking around objects thousands of years ago, which some websites will give credit to as being the beginning of the game. But I wanted to begin at a time where we would all rcognize it, when the sport began in the form we know it today. The first ever football association was formed in England in 1863. It gave rules and gave a standard size and weight for the bals, and it also divided football and rugby as we know today. Around this time, only England and Scotland played. England had a style that was more kick and run, like rugby, but Scotland was more centered around passing, which is more prominent today. Professional football was officially legalized in 1885 and the Football league was established 3 years later. In its first season, there were 12 clubs, with most clubs being very successful still to this day, with Aston Villa, Burnley, Everton, and Wolves all in the premier league this season.
Segment 2: World Team of Decade, 1890sThis next segment will be about the World Team of the Decade of the 1890s, the best players in the world at the beginning of the game as we know it today.
1. The Goalkeeper was Ned Doig, played for Sunderland and was Scottish, it says in this website I’m looking at that he had the skills of a modern goalkeeper, but I dont know if they are talking about Onana type skills. The 2. Right Back was Nicol Smith, played for Rangers and again was from Scotland, another modern player as he was an attacking fullback.
3. Left Back was William John Oakley, was English and played for Corinthian FC, no clue what that is and this website said he was an amateur, so don’t know what that’s about.
4. Now they have a RH, CH, and LH. I believe I am correct in saying they are right, center, and left half, which I have heard but I am used to saying back instead of half. These players from left to right were Jack Reynolds, who played for Aston Villa and West Brom, Johnny Holt, played for Everton, and Jimmy Crabtree, for Aston Villa. They are all English except for Reynolds, who had caps for both Ireland and England. After the back 5 is where I get more confused with these positions.
5. The next 2 are OR and IR, which I assume are Outside and Inside right. Charlie Athersmith and Steve Bloomer, Charlie for Villa and England and Steve for Derby County and England.
6. Then you have the Cf, which I am familiar with, Jonny Campbell played for Sunderland and Scottland.

Episode Title: Welcome to Pitch Perfect
Episode #0
You are listening to Pitch Perfect the podcast with your host Chris Turnbull.
In this episode of Pitch Perfect, we discuss the introduction of the show.
Segment 1: IntroductionWhat up everyone, my name is Chris Turnbull and you are, and hopefully will continue to listen to my podcast, Pitch Perfect. This is a podcast all about the beautiful game that I, and other cool people, call soccer. Listen, I’m no expert, I’m actually just some American in high school. But I have been playing the game my entire life and have been watching every weekend since elementary school, so hopefully I have learned something about the sport throughout my lifetime. This is a student-led podcast that I will be doing inside of school. I’m gonna be real, I took this class cause it was going to be a fun class to take for my senior year. But I am really passionate about soccer and I think we can make a great podcast, so I’ll be taking it serious and putting in the work, but having fun along the way. For this show, there will be 3 segments, the first one will be an introduction to the main topic we will be discussing, the second segment will be some facts or players related to the topic, and the third will just be finishing up the topic. We will have 10 episodes published about every 2 weeks. Thank you to my teachers, my inspirations, Mr. Johnson and Mr. Guise, for this opportunity.
