Join me for a chat all about what’s in my bag — and more importantly, the ADHD-friendly system that keeps me feeling calm and ready to leave the house, even when life is chaotic.

I’ll be sharing how I’ve adapted the viral TikTok ā€œpurse bowlā€ trend into a version that actually works for me — using a box, clear pouches, and some strategic packing. Whether I’m popping out on my own or heading out with all four of my children, this system means I’m not panicking, forgetting the essentials, or feeling flustered before we’ve even left the house.

This isn’t just ā€œwhat’s in my handbagā€ — it’s how I stay organised, reduce decision fatigue, and avoid last-minute meltdowns (mine and the kids’!).

    šŸ‘œ Perfect if:

    You’re an overwhelmed mum
    You’re parenting neurodiverse children
You’ve got an ADHD brain and a busy life
You want to feel calmer and more prepared when you leave the house

"You’ve mentioned how it’s harder for those with kids with autism — what kind of things are harder or different in a neuro-spicy household when it comes to cleaning up?"

I got this comment recently, and it really made me stop and think. Because the truth is, it’s not just about cleaning — there are so many hidden challenges in neurodiverse and SEN families that most people never see.

This isn’t about complaining. It’s about opening up a conversation — so parents of neurodivergent kids can feel a little less alone, and parents of neurotypical kids can better understand what their friends might be carrying.

In this episode, I’m diving into what life really looks like behind the scenes in a neurospicy household — from rigid routines, sensory overwhelm, and picky eating, to emotional letdowns after masking all day, social isolation, extra planning, and the constant mental load that comes with it all.

If you’re navigating any of this too, I hope this makes you feel seen. And if you’ve ever wondered what might be going on behind closed doors — I hope it helps you understand.

šŸ’¬ Know someone who might relate or want to understand more? Please share this with them.

Feeling like family life is total chaos? In this episode of the Real Talk With Rhi Podcast, I’m sharing where I started when building routines from scratch as a mum of four neurodivergent children — and with ADHD myself. If your child doesn’t have a routine, or needs you with them to fall asleep, that is their current routine — and there’s a gentle, doable way to shift it.

I’ll walk you through why I don’t recommend starting with bedtime, where I’d begin instead, and how to take practical, manageable steps towards a calmer, more predictable family life that actually works in real life.

In this episode: – Why starting with mealtimes makes the biggest difference
    – The problem with trying to change everything at once
    – How to create routines your child will actually follow
    – Timers, tools, and small tweaks that help reduce meltdowns
    – How to stay consistent (even on tough days)

Whether you’re deep in the overwhelm or just need a fresh start, this episode is the perfect place to begin.

Going through the autism assessment process for your child can feel overwhelming, confusing, and emotional. In this episode of Real Talk With Rhi, I’m sharing my experience of navigating my son William’s autism diagnosis – from the early signs, the assessment process, and the moment a professional told me he’d never be in mainstream school (she was wrong!).

This journey was the first step in understanding not just William, but all of my children, and it completely changed the way I approach parenting. If you’re currently navigating an autism assessment for your child, I hope this helps you feel more prepared, supported, and less alone.

If you're going through the autism assessment process with your child, I see you. Having been through this four times myself, I know just how taxing, stressful, frustrating, and never-ending it can feel.

So many parents I’ve spoken to have felt dismissed, judged, and even gaslit at some point during the process. You bring up concerns about your child, only to be met with ā€œThey seem fine to me,ā€ or ā€œAll kids do that.ā€ Schools, family members, even professionals can leave you doubting yourself, making you wonder if you’re imagining things.

I want you to know: you are not alone.

This post isn’t just about the practical steps of the assessment process (though I have a whole guide on that if you need it). Instead, I want to focus on what we as parents need to do to stay strong, advocate effectively, and manage the emotional toll that this process can take.

✨ Practical strategies to create a calming sleep environment
✨ How food, blue light, and sensory sensitivities impact sleep
✨ Why audiobooks on slow speed can work wonders

A question I get asked all the time is: What help can I actually ask my child’s school for if they have autism? If your child is in the process of being diagnosed or already has an autism diagnosis, you might be wondering what kind of support is available—and whether it will actually make a difference.

In this episode of Real Talk With Rhi, I’m breaking down practical ways you can ask your child’s school for help—from communication strategies to EHCPs and IDPs, sensory support, movement breaks, and more. Whether your child is masking all day and melting down at home or struggling with overwhelm in school, there are things you can request to make school life easier for them.

    We’re covering:
āœ”ļø How to open better communication with your child’s teacher
āœ”ļø What an EHCP (England) and IDP (Wales) is and how to apply
āœ”ļø Sensory accommodations like ear defenders, fidget toys, and wobble cushions
āœ”ļø Creating non-verbal cues so your child can discreetly signal when they need help
āœ”ļø Asking for movement breaks or access to Sensory Circuits
āœ”ļø Helping your child with routine changes and transitions
āœ”ļø How to approach the school in a way that gets results

šŸ’¬ Have you requested support for your child at school? What has worked for you? Share your experiences in the comments—I’d love to hear from you!

Parenting is challenging, but when you’re raising neurodiverse children, the demands can be even greater. As a mum of four children with autism, I know firsthand how easy it is to put yourself last. But after experiencing extreme burnout in 2024, I realised something had to change.

    In this video, I’m sharing:
āœ… The hidden pressures of parenting neurodiverse children
āœ… My personal experience with burnout and why it caught up with me
āœ… The mindset shift that helped me see self-care differently
āœ… Why I started a ballet class (and how it’s making me a better mum!)
āœ… How taking time for yourself can actually make you more productive

They can feel overwhelming, heartbreaking, and sometimes completely exhausting—for both you and your child. Homework time can be a battle for any family, but for children with ASD, it often brings unique challenges. In this episode, I’m sharing my personal experience as a parent of children with autism who mask at school, only to feel overwhelmed and frustrated when it’s time to tackle homework at home.

I’ll explain why masking, perfectionism, and sensory challenges make homework especially tough, and why teachers might not always see the full picture. Most importantly, I’ll share the strategies that have worked for us: starting early, breaking tasks into manageable steps, making homework fun, and creating a supportive environment that meets their needs.

Whether you’re a parent struggling with similar challenges or looking for practical tips to make homework time more manageable, this episode is packed with relatable stories and actionable ideas to help your family thrive.
