On this week’s Album for Album episode we have Tony’s suggestion of the unfinished Beach Boys’ album Smile. Specifically we dive into the first disc of The Smile Sessions 2012 boxset which would have been a hypothetical version of the completed album. There’s a lot of lore behind this record which is just a small reason why it’s one Tony’s favorite albums of all time. But will Rico feel similarly? This week Rico is joined by friend of the podcast Christopher Antonucci for a special episode! Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ fifth studio album, Long After Dark, got the deluxe treatment recently that included songs from the album’s sessions that did not make the final tracklist, covers, and a couple of alternative takes. We used these “new” tracks and created our own ultimate version of this underrated album. Down below you can view and listen to both of own versions of this album.
