Fox was on Draymond Green's podcast this week and amongst other things, mentioned that the team needed to put more pieces around him to be more successful. Well, that would require him to hold on to his end of the bargain and perform up to par to justify making those moves.
And perform well he did not, as he once again came out lackadaisical, and the rest of the team followed suit as they were outphysicaled and outhustled by the Lakers on their home floor to lose their 2nd game in a row.
If Fox wants to be paid like a supermax guy, this game is the complete opposite of what he needs to do to achieve that.

The Kings went down big against the Nuggets as they were pummeled inside by the visitors and left trailing by 20 after the first quarter.
But then the Kings woke up, and managed to turn the tide of the game in their favor, taking the lead in the 3rd and leading for much of the 4th. But the Nuggets struck back and after trading the lead numerous times in the final minute, Jamal Murray hit the final go-ahead bucket that turned out to be the game winner. The Kings would miss their final shot and lose in a heartbreaker.
The Kings showed great fight to comeback down big but crunch time execution has been a problem but the biggest issue this game was the awful start they had to this game. They'll need to correct that especially as they have another 3 day rest before the Lakers game and the Kings have always gotten to slow starts after long rests such as this.
Owen also gives his thoughts on the NBA ratings conversation and what he thought of WWE's Saturday Night's Main Event this past weekend.

It wasn't easy, and the Kings damn sure made it as hard as possible on themselves, but they finally got the Pelicans monkey off their back.
The game started off good, then it turned rough as the Kings offense just could get a consistent rhythm, as it is common after a long layoff for this team. After halftime, Demar DeRozan decided to put his stamp on the game and scored 16 in quarter to take the lead and the Kings never looked back after. Even though they did their damnedest to give the game late in the 4th and CJ McCollum was happy to take it.
But the Kings held them off to secure the much needed victory to get the mental chokehold off their back.
Kings have now won 3 in a row and look to continue it back in the G1C against the Nuggets on Monday.

The Kings come home from their short road trip back to the G1C and absolutely dominate the Jazz.
They simply overwhelmed the Jazz with their defense and shotmaking and when the Kings have it going from 3, they are absolutely unstoppable.
Owen decides to take some time and explain the luxury tax, what it is and why Vivek may or may not being willing to go into it and he ends the episode by talking about the New Day being his new favorite thing in wrestling.

The Kings split their 2 game road trip in Memphis and San Antonio. While it wasn't perfect, they did play well in Memphis and then marvelously in San Antonio.
Against the Grizzlies, the Kings played well against a good team, but they couldn't hit their 3s and defend down the stretch. But the signs were there that the Kings looked more cohesive than they have in previous games.
And onto San Antonio the next day, while they started very slow, after the end of the 1st quarter the Kings took control of the Wemby-less, Vassell-less and Jones-less Spurs and never looked back.
This could be something, it could be nothing, but the Kings looked better overall and if this could be the start of a run to get back on track in the standings. Or it could just be nothing and the Kings just revert back to the inconsistent team they've been all season so far.

The thought Owen had coming into this game was that it was going to be a horrible match up for the Kings. The Kings struggle with long, athletic and physical teams, which is exactly what the Rockets are.
And in the 1st half, the Kings didn't look up to the task of matching the Rockets. But the Rockets then tried to add a little extra flavor and things got chippy with the 2 teams, and that inadvertently sparked the Kings and they rose to the occasion.
The Kings offense woke up and they matched the intensity of the Rockets and more in the 2nd half to walk away with the victory.
It's a much needed win for the Kings and the biggest things from the game is that they matched the Rockets physicality and they broke out of their shooting slump a little. Let's hope they carry that momentum forward and get back on track.

The Kings lose another one, in what is becoming a trend as of late. But in this one, the Kings played better than the Spurs in many areas. They outscored them in the paint, outrebounded them and destroyed them in transition points. But the Spurs did one thing better, they shot better from 3, much better, and they outlast the Kings in a competitive game.
It would be easy to be doom and gloom about another loss but there are signs of optimism to be found. The Kings have a hole to climb out of but it is still early in the season, and there is time to figure things out. But again, it gets late early and with each passing game, reasons to be optimistic could seem more futile if there is no improvement soon.

The Kings pulled an incredible comeback in Minnesota 2 nights ago but failed to carry that momentum over to Portland.
They really struggled against the length and physicality of Blazers (hey where have we heard that one before?) and it rattled them to the tune of 20 turnovers that ultimately doomed them.
The Kings now fall to 9-11 on the season through 20 games and 12th in the West. It's not good but is by no means the end of the world but with each loss comes a sense of urgency that the Kings need to get their act together before it's too late.

Well, the Kings got their much needed win in Minnesota. It was going well, until it wasn't, and then it was again. It was the most cardiac Kings performance and after the dust settled the Kings got their win.
The Kings snap their 4 game losing streak and now go to Portland to try continue the momentum from this win.

The Kings lose 2 big back to back games at home, dropping them to 8-10 on the season and are now in the midst of a 4 game losing streak.
In the 1st game against the Nets, the Kings allowed the Nets to shoot lights out from 3 and to ultimately hold on to beat the Kings.
In the 2nd game, the Kings played a competitive game against the Thunder but were rattled by a bad stretch of foul calls in the middle of the 3rd quarter and they never recovered.
The season gets late early and the Kings will need to turn it around soon if they are to make some noise in the playoff race.

Welp, it's just gonna be one of those things. The Clippers so far have been the King's boogie man.
In the same vein as the Pelicans last year, the Clippers have a roster of players who are long and physical players that pressure the King's players and take them out of their normal rhythm.
This led to the Kings having one of the worst offensive first halves in recent history, scoring only 29 point heading into the break. They were better in the 2nd half but it was simply too late.
The Kings will need to regroup for the next game as they really need to pick up some wins to stay competitive in this brutal Western Conference.
Owen also goes around the league and talks about a myriad of news such as Inside the NBA continuing, Randle not passing to Gobert and much more.

Kings lose a close one to the Hawks in the G1C. They shot the lights out from 3 but fell just short of the victory after a no-call on a Fox drive to end the game.
The Kings were good on offense this game but couldn't stop the Hawks from scoring consistently despite them being on the 2nd night of a back to back.
While it's another heartbreaking loss, the Kings have the few days off to regroup and they should also be getting reinforcements back soon in Sabonis, Monk and DeRozan.

Kings fans bore witness to 2 of the best performances in history from 1 De'Aaron Fox. In the first game he scored a mind boggling 60 points on the Minnesota Timberwolves in a heartbreaking loss. He would then follow that up the next night with 49 points against the Utah Jazz.
These 2 performances have reminded Kings fans and the rest of the NBA world what Fox is capable of. And with Demar DeRozan out for the Minnesota game and Sabonis out for the Utah game, Fox needed to carry a much bigger load and boy did he deliver.
Hopefully the team can get healthy soon so we can see the full capabilities of this team once they are all whole again.

The Kings had a bit of a throwback Beam Team performance against the Suns in the G1C. In a season where it feels that all too often the Kings play to their opponent's style, the Kings played textbook Beam Team basketball where they play at a breakneck pace and overwhelm the opponent on offense.
The Suns on the 2nd night of a back to back simply couldn't keep up but were able to stay in it by getting 19 offensive rebounds and capitalizing off the King's bonehead turnovers.
But ultimately they just couldn't keep up with the Kings and the home team ran away with this one.
It's good to see the Kings wake up a bit on offense and here's to hoping this is the first sign of them breaking out of their offensive funk.

The Kings split another back to back and in somewhat similar fashion. They performed incredible in the 1st night against the Suns where the King's new addition Demar DeRozan's clutch powers were on full display as he willed the game back into the King's grasp after they looked dead in the water, only to pass it onto De'Aaron Fox to finish the job in Pheonix.
But that incredible performance overshadowed a huge thorn on the King's side and unfortunately it would really rear its ugly head in San Antonio the next night. The 3 point shot, the Kings are really bad at defending it and they can't make theirs on the other end. And without the clutch magic of Fox and DeRozan being a factor on this night, the Kings were handily destroyed by the Spurs.
The Kings will need to figure this out at some point, either defend the 3 better or make more on the offensive end. They can't always fall back on the clutch brilliance of their 2 stars every single night.

It's a make or miss league as they say. And in this game, the Clipper made 14-30 of their 3s and the Kings only made 3-26 of theirs.
Despite the atrocious 3-point shooting, the Kings were in it late and could've pulled off a comeback but it was not to be. It's hard to win in this league when you don't make 3s, despite making over 65% of their shots inside the arc, it still wasn't able to overcome the Clipper's barrage from the outside.

The Kings get a measure of revenge against the Raptors for their loss in Toronto a little under a week ago by getting a win over them back home in Sacramento.
It was a slow paced and physical game for the 1st 3 quarters, the Raptors mucked up the King's offense with their physicality, length and hustle all over the court. It clearly affected the Kings as they struggled to play their game.
But in the 4th quarter the Kings were able to finally break free of the shackles the Raps put on them, much like in the Portland game, and proceeded to blow the game open and never looked back.
Another impressive showing by the Kings and while the Raptors are by no means a juggernaut, the Kings were able to overcome their struggles against length and physicality to turn the momentum of the game to their side.

The Kings go into Miami and in typical Kings fashion, play a razor close game.
Miami overwhelmed the Kings early with their 3 point shooting in the 1st half but De'Aaron Fox sparked the Kings as they fought back in the 3rd quarter with their defense and their own 3 point shooting.
It then turned into a 4th quarter back and forth battle, with Jimmy Butler rallying the Heat back into the game and taking the lead and DeRozan working his magic for the Kings.
It ultimately ended with a Sabonis putback to win the game in what was a show of great resilience from a team that looked dead in the water at halftime but rallied to win the game.

The Kings after picking up a win Utah, embarked on one of the weirdest road trips ever. First they headed to Atlanta where they were able to eek out a close game after leading huge for much of the game.
They then had to head across the US border to get to Toronto to play the Raptors the next night. And that weird travel arrangement clearly affected them as they lose a game where they turned the ball over a bunch and couldn't hit their shots from 3.
They'll now head back across the US border to go to Miami to play the Heat on Monday and hopefully they aren't as affected by the brutal travel schedule this time around.

After dropping their 1st two games of the season against tough opponents, it was imperative that they bounce back in their next 2 games against projected lesser opponents.
And the Kings did just that, by first beating the Blazers on the 1st night of a back to back at home. The game was a mud fight in the 1st half with a slow pace and tons of fouls. But the Kings were able to break out of the Blazer's shackles in the 2nd half as their shots began to drop and the pace sped up to King's liking. It was good to see them able to figure out their opponent in real time and force them to play the King's style of basketball.
On the 2nd night of the back to back in Utah, the Kings took care of business as they simply overwhelmed the Jazz with their high paced offense and active defense. Last year these games were terrifying for Kings fans as the Kings seemed to always play down to the level of their opponents, so it was good to see them take care of business.
