At the beginning of his musical career, one of the greatest rock guitarists of all time struggled financially due to constant talent suppression. Had he not left his hometown and accepted a chance opportunity to perform abroad, the world may never have known his musical genius.
Similarly, our podcast host and producer Alicia Butler Pierre, whose talents have often been described as โunorthodox,โ and โeclectic,โ found that traveling within and outside her country accelerated her career. Sheโs coined a specific term to describe this effect where relocating allows otherwise obscure talents to be recognized, respected, and rewarded.
In this special edition of Scale Tales, weโre sharing an audio version of Aliciaโs TEDx Talk where she reveals the name of this relocation effect. She also explores the science behind this phenomenon while sharing her story to make the case for seeking new environments to find a spotlight for your talent. You may also find this talk to provide the inspiration you need to try a new location to grow and scale your business.
This episode features an adaptation of Aliciaโs original talk delivered live at TEDx Viikki in Helsinki, Finland.

"Never take advice from someone who has nothing to lose by giving it." - Darrell Evans
That comes from Darrell Evans, an investor, business coach, and digital marketing expert. He graduated over 20 years ago with a finance degree and entered financial sales before moving into the mortgage industry.
