  • The orbits of Zodya and Terry Benedikt intersected in the cosmos of Love-Foundation. This encounter led to a close friendship, countless beautiful b2b’s, and exciting projects together. Both share a deep acknowledgment for the importance of music in life and great respect for any form of artistic exploration of consciousness. Their tastes in digging are diverse and no source of inspiration is left unexplored. Seeing them play together may be referred to as synergy.

2019 marked the birth of Orbiting Souls, their party series across various venues in Berlin. Orbiting Souls aims to be a platform for the digging culture, original tastes/characters, and aspires to become a multidisciplinary network and music label in the very near future.

“This mix is a reflection of their feelings during COVID-19 quarantine. "We are very aware of how fortunate we are to live through these confusing times in Berlin. But quite honestly, we crave a good old analog rave with some good old social closeness, which is why it became fairly uplifting. All of these tracks are very close to our hearts. The process of creating a story out of them was inspiring and liberating, we hope it transmits."

  • We almost can't contain our excitement here, having the absolute Legend...and one of the nicest, most down to earth dedicated innovative Musician in the scene

Dan Curtin join our Sol Asylum Mix Series!

We're honoured to present this live mix he recorded exclusively for our Series, which will take you on a winding, twisting journey for the next hour!. Turn up, loud and enjoy the ride!

Dan Curtin’s musical quest began amidst the inception of the techno and house phenomenon of the early 1990s. From his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio Dan experimented with a vast number of styles, producing innovative sounds of every variety: from Chicago to Detroit to the East Coast.

Dan’s considerably impressive discography dates back to 1992 when his first releases on Detroit’s 33 RPM Records and Belgium’s Buzz motivated him to launch his own production hub: Metamorphic Recordings. His unwillingness to commit to a singular style was instrumental to his continuously fresh releases on big players such as Peacefrog, Strictly
Rhythm and Sublime, and Soma while his forward-thinking approach brought him tremendous support from the likes of Carl Cox, Carl Craig, and many more.

In 2003 Dan's creative instincts provoked him to relocate to the fast-paced music scene of Berlin which triggered a string of new releases on young, happening labels such as Bass Culture, Saved, Bosconi and recently on Steffi’s Dolly Dubs. (listen here)

Over 70 singles, nine albums later Dan is just as innovative and fresh as he has ever been whether recording under his own name or under one of his many aliases such as Purveyors of Fine Funk. His refusal to lock himself into one style as well as his unique ability to collaborate with artists from a variety of genres has helped him to maintain not only his
status as an individual amongst a world of ever-increasingly like-minded musicians but also his status as a legend over two decades.

  • We are super excited to proudly present the next outstanding mix for our Series by the Irish legend, Derek Carr just ahead of his debut for our 6th year Anniversary of SolAsylum on the 29th of February. He has built a worthy reputation for producing stunning deep techno and delivering quality DJ and Live sets across Europe and we are just absolutely thrilled to have him celebrate with us soon.

Derek Carr has been producing and releasing Detroit-tinged electronic music for almost two decades. He has recently released music on labels such as ‘For those that Knoe’, ‘Revoke’, ‘Subwax’ and ‘Firescope’.
In 2001 Derek launched his own label ‘Trident Recordings’ and released the ‘Copper Beech e.p.’ (the only release to date) a collection of deep soulful techno. Only 500 copies were pressed and it has since become something of a collector’s item.

Subsequent releases on ‘Digital Soul’ and ‘Geek Records’ further cemented Carr’s place amongst a new generation of techno producers that looked to combine soul and melody with electronic dancefloor grooves.

Derek Carr is a name known by few and far between but he has built a worthy reputation for putting together stunning deep techno.

  • We would like to welcome Madezh to the Sol Asylum series family. He is based in Split, Croatia, Mateo Jelicic aka Madezh is one of the undisclosed heroes for the underground scene in Split. His career began in 2002 by DJing at clubs and events later to become part of the crew of Underground Control between the years of 2006-2011.
Madezh is an open-minded DJ whom is constantly evolving and does not solely stick to genres like techno, house, etc
but defines music as what is good and what is bad by leaving it to the emotions of what the crowd is feeling at that certain moment on the dance-floor. You can experience these magical moments the most at the legendary Cruise Split Boat parties when Madezh takes over the booth to delve into deeper frequencies and sounds as the sun begins to rise and glisten over the Adriatic sea.
With a forthcoming release on “Residual” and “u.dig” records, the future looks to be exciting for an artist who has put in a lot of hard work and has surrounded himself with by like-minded people. We are happy to show some of his skills with this wonderful podcast. Sit back and enjoy the ride!

  • Kenneth Scott's live PA at the last Gravity event powered by Sol Asylum and Belisa was simply astounding. We hope you enjoy his unique and elaborate sonic immersion as much as we did. If you do not know this artist already, please check his latest releases on Vakant, Another, Legwork, and his own Bad Animal imprint.
Kenneth spent his formative years surrounded by hippies in a small town in rural Iowa, and somewhere amongst their penchant for Transcendental Meditation, they introduced a young Mr. Scott to rave music. Soon after, between dabbling in Hip-Hop production, tinkering with cheap hardware, and full immersion in mid-90s House, Drum N Bass and IDM, Scott found himself on a one-way train to the distant shores of San Francisco, where his bastardized melange of electronic dance music was welcomed with wide-open arms.
After several years building notoriety as a promoter, collaborative performer, and consummate after-party DJ extraordinaire, Scott shifted his attention more seriously to solo production, which is garnering him increasing accolades in his current home of Berlin. Kenneth Scott is a busy man still on a one-way train, with no brakes.

  • We would like to present this wonderful slice of dance floor bliss from our dear friend and collegue, Mato.

His set was the highlight of our night at the last Sol Asylum in Club Der Visionaere and we are very pleased to share a cut of this experience with all of you.

We are extremely proud of Mato for his dedication in production as well for his envious record collection.

Check out his latest record on Adam Collins infamous Euphoria Records, its a beautiful piece of minimal funk with an infectious groove. Get to know a bit more about this wonderful artist.

MATO (Mathieu Fabre) is a DJ hailing from the ancient islands of Malta. In his very early years he discovered his love of rhythm when he found himself frequenting the house of a family friend, a place where local DJs gathered to share music and mix records.

This exposure planted the seed that has since blossomed into his ever-growing obsession with all things music.

Matt began his career mixing in small bars and clubs in Panama. He then worked with friends to launch the record label K101 Music and has since released work from artists like Gari Romalis, Jay Tripwire, Owen Jay, and more. In 2011, he moved to Berlin to further refine his knowledge of music, expand his record collection, and collaborate with other artists.

Over the years, he’s kept one foot in Berlin's club culture and the other deep in Malta's energetic nightlife scene.

  • Maksim is originally from Russia, now based in Brooklyn and is a Resolute NY resident since 2013.
He gave birth to some brilliant edits/remixes, you probably played or heard and has productions out on Aline Brooklyn imprint (002).
We were so impressed with his set at our friends and colleagues Slowdance 10 year anniversary last year that we are delighted to have him with us here and for our Sol Asylum party this summer Club Der Visionaere on the 1st of July!
Maksim lays down a profound selection for us and creates an inticing classy one hour journey... Enjoy!

  • We would like to introduce you to our newest member of Sol Asylum Records, Samuel Padden.
We were totally blown away from his producing skills and this beautifully eclectic set was a convincing factor that led us to ask him to join our tight-knit family. Samuel is a self- confessed music junkie with 5 years under his belt in experience and is now coming to fruition in his productions.
Intelligent, forward-thinking dance music is what he is promoting, taking inspiration from all corners of electronic music and making it his own. He also has a flair for selection and digging seemingly mixing electro, house, techno and minimal from new to old and everything in between.
Keep an eye on Samuel, he will have a VA with us in Sept. and you can catch him play at our party on the 1st of July at CDV.

  • Julie Marghilano and Miss Jools have recorded this b2b session for the special occasion of the 5th year anniversary of Sol Asylum Records.
It has been an incredible journey so far and we hope you enjoy this mix just as much as we enjoyed making it for you.

  • Tom Ellis uniquely sophisticated set was a big highlight for us at this past weekends @sol-asylum-records anniversary party in Hoppetosse so we are more than happy to present this podcast made with all of his own productions for our mix series 007. A core member and resident of the Freerotation Festival, Tom Ellis has been releasing funk & jazz inspired house & techno since 2003, when he launched Trimsound, his first label, which was co-run with Leif.
His vast discography includes over 40 EPs and 7 albums that pop up on some of the world's most respected underground labels. His early appearances on Mindtours and Trimsound led to worldwide recognition and further releases and remixes for Archipel, Good Ratio Music, Classic, Philpot, Moon Harbour, Leap, Telegraph, Logistic, Black Key Records, Eye4Eye, Floppy Funk, Morris Audio, Flumo, Supremus Records, Hartchef Discos, Minibar, Highgrade, Klamauk, and Som Bom (the electronic spin-off label run by fellow Welsh men, Super Furry Animals) and many, many more.
Forever steering into the weirder side of things, he tries to anchor himself with his experience as a self-taught musician. Playing drums, bass, keys and guitar from an early age has given him a good foundation from which to understand and explore electronic music with the groove, soul and funk of a real musician.
2016 has seen the launch of his new solo label, In Modo Di, with the first record landing high in the bestseller charts, and the launch of his new monthly radio show on KMAH radio, The Taunton Loft Sessions. Sit back and enjoy this wonderful piece of joy created by the man himself.

  • Leiris is a French DJ and Producer, based now in Berlin that has been on our radar for quite a long time so we were thrilled to finally have him at the last Sol Asylum event at Hoppetosse. Over the past years, he has acquired an envious record collection and his dedication to perfecting his skills has made him one of the most sought-after artists on the scene. We hope you enjoy this impressive mix that he delivered for our Sol Asylum mix series as much as we did.
In the 90's he first fell in love with minimal house and techno. His main influences were Robert Hood, Daniel Bell,Melchior and Jeff Mills whom he played twice with during the Purpose Maker Tour.
These influences can be heard in his dj sets which are known to be groovy, unexpected and full of musical treasures. She has been an integral part of the Berlin club scene since moving from Munich in the late 90s and we highly respect her dedication and vision in the electronic music scene.
Autumn 2009 Barbara Preisinger founded the 12inch vinyl label SLICES OF LIFE which is focused on organic sounding and diverse club music, with releases by Betke, Mike Huckaby, Baaz, John Tejada and The Mole.
The labelŽs founding year also marked the beginning of the event series DEEP IN THE BOX with regular parties at BerlinŽs Club der VisionÀre, Wilde Renate, Ipse among other places. In September 2015 Barbara Preisinger moved DEEP IN THE BOX to the Globus floor at BerlinŽs legendary TRESOR club, where she has been hosting her parties every 2 months since then. Pressure Point is distinguished by his productions and dj sets with a mixture of elaborated sounds complex groove compositions randomized fast-paced and a typically deep, melodic sound synthesis.
His productions are enclosed for the large part composed of synthesizers, modular synth, sounds wonky and nano-loops all designed by sequencer step, triggers and creative impulses creating a harmonious unsteady gait.
It's about micro-glitch music and house music futuristic well mixed and attention to the smallest detail.

  • We are very proud to present this timeless mix crafted by Roger Gerressen exclusively for our Sol Asylum mix Series. Roger, along with the Dilated Pupils, was one of the first artists we have been honored to have on our label. Since then, we have had the pleasure to hear him numerous times at our party in Club Der Visionaere and Hopetosse and we hope you enjoy this eclectically solid mix as much as we do. Roger Gerressen was born in Arnhem (the Netherlands), raised on early 90’s hiphop in Nijmegen. His passion for house music began when he got the chance to warm up crowds on a regular basis at the legendary Planet Rose clubnights, which made his hometown Nijmegen an excellent place to develop his skills as a warm up DJ and to obtain a broad taste in music.
After his first solo releases on the local Wolfskuil Records he co-founded ESHU (and ESHU Records) in 2011. Recognition came after a string of well received solo releases on Fear Of Flying Records (and sub-label SuddenDrop), his many collaborations with Ivano Tetelepta and numerous other collabs (like Dilated Pupils, ARC# and Novio Dub Tribe). A few years down the line it was time for a new direction which resulted in parting ways with ESHU to start his own label OGUN Records and a few monikers (like the recent Monoaware and less recently Gasometric Run) to provide him with the creative freedom he was looking for. Since he joined Paris based Yoyaku (label/store/distribution) he had the chance to release music on a few of the recordstore’s in-house labels like Joule Imprint, Aku and Tartouffe and on the renowned label Sushitech. With their support, he set up two more labels to meet his output; Irenic Records and Autodidact Records. Keep and eye and an ear out for this outstandingly dedicated artist.

  • We are thrilled and honored to present you the first artist of our Sol Asylum mix series, Vincent Lemieux. DJ, record dealer, MUTEK programmer, Musique RisquĂ©e label cofounder and producer: Vincent is what you’d call a consummate music lover.
Having rapidly ascended the DJ ranks thanks to his impeccable taste, Vincent Lemieux does not limit his musical diet to a single genre and this live cut from our last Sol Asylum at Club der Visionaere is the ideal example. We would like to share this wonderful piece of time and space with you and we hope you enjoy listening to this cut as much as we enjoyed dancing to it.
