Do you guys ever wonder what itâs like on the other side of social media? The people who run massive media accounts and the business side of social media. Big media so say. I wonder about it all the time, and today I have here with me someone who was on the other side of social media, and then came on over to the advocate side to fight FOR kids. Nicki Reisberg is simply a concerned mom who is bridging the gap between other parents and experts in the space. She works to make the research, stories and expertise more available to parents so they can make more informed decisions around screens and social media. She was previously a social media manager for over a decade and flipped the script to work on the good side of social.

So many insta influencers only share the shiny glammer of life. SO many influencers seem so fake, so it is REALLY refreshing when the occasional genuine star comes along to help normalize the messy hot mess that is real life. Everyone meet my friend Nikki . Nicki Marie is a single mama / co-parent who accidentally became an internet âstahâ (accent is a must here lol) when sharing real life, in the moment snippets of motherhood during the pandemic. Since, she has become known as an internet BFF by sharing truths, humor and unapologetic imperfections.

You know what teens today are super afraid of? Failing. One of the biggest things holding back teens today from even trying new things is the fear of failing. The ability to fail and not get crushed is a critical life skill, and we need to get better at it. Thatâs where our guest comes in
Dr. Ashley Kuchar is a former collegiate student-athlete and the founder of Fail Better Trainingâą. As a mental performance coach, she is passionate about helping athletes (of all levels) learn how to respond to challenging situations in ways that foster resilience rather than rely on harsh criticism. During her doctoral degree, Ashley developed a resilience program called RESET. She tested the 6-session program with over 250 NCAA student-athletes and found that it supported adaptive coping, well-being, and sport performance. Ashley played basketball and softball in high school. In college, Ashley was a starting guard for the Fort Lewis College (FLC) women's basketball team and at the conclusion of her athletic career, she was awarded the Dr. Troy Bledsoe Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Nominee for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award.

More and more, children today are exhibiting learning disabilities. ADHD, ADD, and dyslexia. It can be really difficult, feeling so different. And so I brought an expert on the matter who has lived through it with her child. Lynn Greenberg is a wife, mom, and grandma. A now retired attorney, she loves to cook, exercise, and read. During COVID-19, when many families were living together with an abundance of unscheduled free time, Lynn and her son Jonathan, who has dyslexia, began to work on the concepts and ideas for Robby The Dyslexic Taxi and the Airport Adventure. As ideas developed, they became increasingly invested in the character, his story, and the impact this endeavor could have on others

You know that here at save the kids we believe that delay is the way when it comes to smart phones. But eventually, that cat IS GETTING OUT OF THE BAG. So instead of scaring you more about the dangers of social media and smart phones (cuz youâve heard plenty of that by now), I want to talk about what we can do to have a healthy tech realtionship once our kids DO have a smartphone and.or social media. And I no no one better to help us with that than my guest Andrea Davis of Better Screen Time. For those who donât know, Better Screen Time, their mission is to help families THRIVE in a tech heavy world. After having their own experiences of giving a smart phone to their child too soon, Andrea and her family had to do a tech reset so it didnât control their lives. Thatâs why Better Screen Time was created, to give parents the family tested resources she WISHED she had with her family. And we are so fortunate to get to bring her on the podcast every season.

Confidence for teens is rough. The esteem of teen girls specifically is being attacked in a very specific way. And itâs hard for many young women to feel confidence while they are being compared to the unrealistic standards of the interwebs. So today, I am speaking to 3 moms, and founders of the online mentoring program I believe in me. Everyone welcome on to the show, Katie, Becky, and Allie. Katie, Becky, and Allie are three moms in the trenches who know what it's like to raise a family, with a combined total of 17 children between them. They are also successful businesswomen as co-founders of "I Believe in Me," an online mentoring program for tween girls. They teach tools and strategies to help girls grow their confidence, strengthen their identity and develop resilience

More and more we just can't trust what our kids are going to run into on tv. Even while we are there. A parents worst night mare is when an unexpected sex scene pops up during a movie and we can only scramble for the remote to fast forward. Well, my guest here today is here to help. Everyone meet Bill Aho from VidAngel. VidAngel is a wonderful technology that allows you to control the streaming content that comes into your home, filtering out sex, violence and profanity based on your preferences for your family. Weâve heard a lot about the dangers of social media. And a lot of it is qualitative data. Anecdotal stories that really hit us in our feels. But I want to show you guys the real life stuff. And so I connected with a Physician in Canada who sees medically just how dangerous social media can be for young kids. So I brought her here on the show today! Dr. Alison Yeung is a practicing family physician from Ontario, Canada. She has been practicing for the past 11 years, and over that time has becoming increasingly aware of the mental health crisis facing children and teens. After speaking with patients, and examining the research, itâs become clear that social media and video games are causing a significant deterioration in their mental health. She is hoping to raise awareness about this topic by educating parents, and providing strategies to reduce the harm caused by these devices

So, the beauty industry is a feckled thing. While we want our kids to be presentable and take care of themselves, we also donât want them to feel the crushing weight of the unrealistic standards that the beauty industry has set. So I brought on a bit of an expert in the matter. Everybody meet Dr. Sheilagh Maguiness. Dr. Sheilagh Maguiness is a board certified pediatric dermatologist with a busy academic practice in Minneapolis. She is mom to two tween boys and co-founder of Stryke Club. Dr. Maguiness is active in her National Society and is currently the President of the Society for Pediatric Dermatology.

Today, we are going to be talking about some difficult topics, so here is your trigger warning. But today I got here with me my man Joe T. Joe Tuia'ana is the founder of the "i love you, bro PROJECT", a non-profit organization that specifically addresses Men's Mental Health, Suicide Prevention. Last year, Joe's life changed. Shortly after, Joe was recruited by the Utah Department of Health & Human Services to create the LiveOn Utah Suicide Prevention Playbook, which is the world's first ever suicide prevention training, for "Average Joe's", taught entirely on Instagram.
