  • In this helpful parenting and personal development episode, I have a great conversation with Annette Evans Wilson, who brings both wisdom and professional experience to the topic of navigating family changes, especially during divorce. Annette begins by sharing her journey of overcoming self-doubt and discouragement that began in childhood, where she was surrounded by limiting beliefs echoed by family members. Despite this, she found the determination to pursue her dream of becoming an English teacher, and later, to create the YOU Life Skills and Leadership Educational Foundation after retirement. Her foundation focuses on supporting youth in self-discovery, empathy-building, and community engagement.

We talk, the discussion turns to Annette’s years teaching in a challenging inner-city school environment, where she noticed that her students, and their parents, benefited from structured self-reflection and a supportive approach. Drawing from her classroom experience, Annette emphasizes the value of encouraging young people, and by extension their families, to change the narrative from “I can’t” to “Maybe I can’t, but I will.” She highlights the importance of exploring Maslow's hierarchy of needs not just for children, but for adults as well, recognizing how foundational needs, safety, and a sense of belonging must be addressed in times of upheaval.

Annette describes how her workbook, “Know Yourself,” is set up for families to use together, providing practical exercises that foster honest conversations and deeper self-awareness. She underlines how tools like the identity wheel help families recognize that beliefs and values are shaped by various influences—family, culture, and personal experience—and that developing authenticity is an ongoing journey for everyone. Annette introduces the term “teenitude” to help parents reframe and appreciate the changes their children experience in adolescence as opportunities for growth rather than conflict.

Annette’s insights remind families that everyone’s perspectives are shaped by their experiences, and that embracing these differences can create more resilient, connected households, even in the midst of change. Through practical advice and genuine warmth, this conversation offers reassurance that with empathy and open communication, families can thrive through life’s transitions.

    About the Guest:

Annette Evans Wilson overcame personal and societal obstacles to become a dedicated English teacher, positively impacting the lives of countless young people in a challenging environment. Her mantra "maybe I can't, but I will" empowered her students to surpass limitations and achieve their goals.

Notably, she mentored the first female college football head coach in the US. Following her retirement, Annette established the YOU Life Skills and Leadership Educational Foundation to continue guiding youth in self-discovery, community service, and empathy. With her own sons thriving in diverse careers, she advocates for recognizing and nurturing individual differences to foster success.

  • In this episode, Mardi Winder-Adams chats with Kelli Sedgwick-Drummond, a certified divorce and life coach, about what divorce coaching really is and how it can make a difference. Kelli opens up about her own experiences with a tough divorce and how it led her to start KJSD Coaching so she could support others who are facing similar challenges.

Mardi and Kelli talk about why having a divorce coach matters, especially when you're working through all the emotions that come with such a big life change. They talk about how coaching is different from what a lawyer or therapist might offer—divorce coaching is all about focusing on your feelings, practical problems, and looking ahead to what's next, not just revisiting the past.

The conversation also gets real about the fears people have around divorce, whether that’s worrying about money, losing a home, or being judged by others. Kelli and Mardi both acknowledge that it’s easy to feel stuck or alone, but there are always options and resources, especially if you have the right support. They stress the importance of being kind to yourself through the process, reaching out for help, and remembering you’re not alone.

  • Today, I have the pleasure of having a conversation with Randy Rolfe, who shares her vast knowledge about nutrition and family wellness. Randy shares how stress often pushes us to ignore healthy eating, leading us to choose fast foods and snacks instead. She emphasizes that while it might seem easier in stressful times, opting for nutritious meals is key to managing stress and keeping our minds and bodies feeling their best.

Randy's background is as interesting as it is diverse, starting as a lawyer before turning her skills to nutrition and family counseling. Her journey began in law school when she became curious about what we eat and its effects on our health. Eventually, she transitioned from law to focusing on education, helping others understand the impact of nutrition on their lives. In the podcast, Randy debunks a few common food myths, like the idea that exercising more than focusing on diet will tackle obesity or that fats are the main culprits for weight gain.

A focal point of the discussion is Randy's latest book, which champions the idea of sticking to single-ingredient foods. This approach is all about cutting out processed foods and embracing whole foods that don’t need a lengthy ingredient list. Not only can this shift help break the cycle of cravings for processed snacks, but it also fosters a healthier lifestyle. Randy’s insights are particularly valuable for parents, including those navigating the challenges of divorce, as teaching kids about healthy eating habits is crucial.

For those who want more information, Randy offers great resources on her website, including a chance for a free coaching session, helping listeners to take practical steps toward better nutrition. We wrap up the episode by encouraging everyone to reflect on their food choices and how those decisions can significantly impact overall health and well-being. This episode is packed with actionable advice and is a great listen for anyone looking to improve their eating habits and nurture a healthier lifestyle.

  • In this episode, I chat with Mike Fink, a decision-making expert who's made it his mission to help women figure out their next steps when considering divorce. With an impressive background, including a master's in psychology from Yale, Mike dives into the backstory that led him to focus on this field, including a rocky business partnership that taught him the ins and outs of indecision.

Mike breaks down the brain science behind decision-making, explaining how our survival instincts can keep us stuck on tough choices. He introduces us to the concept of the three brains: our primal brain for survival, our emotional brain, and our logical brain. It's the primal brain that often stalls us, fending off change in the name of safety.

He gets into the nuts and bolts of his process, which includes "value mapping," where you pinpoint what really matters in your relationship. It’s all about giving the primal brain a visual nudge with colorful cues so it can "see" the logic it's missing. Mike shares how this approach leads to clarity and a sense of peace, helping people decide their path without lingering doubts.

For anyone caught in the emotional whirlwind of divorce decisions, Mike's approach offers straightforward tools to make choices that align with what you truly want. It's about getting clear, confident, and comfortable with whatever step you choose to take next.

    About the Guest:

Mike Fink is a clarity and decision-making expert, coach, and innovator. With a Master of Science in Psychology from Yale, he helps women considering divorce who are stuck in indecision, fearing they’ll make a mistake they’ll regret. During the first part of his career in personal development, spanning more than two decades, Mike’s programs helped more than 110,000 people across 157 countries achieve life-changing goals.

Following a painful turning point, he created The Decoding Grid™, a revolutionary process for high-stakes decision-making. Since 2021, he has dedicated himself to helping women get absolute Clarity & Certainty about their marriage in 30 days or less. • Today I welcome back Lori Danecke, a dynamic coach skilled in NLP, quantum release process, hypnotherapy, and Reiki. Lori's got an inspiring story about how her life did a 180 when she realized she wasn't living the way she wanted to. Even though on the surface she had the perfect setup—a marriage, kids, and grandkids—something was missing. Three years ago, she dove into personal development, getting herself a coach, setting goals, and ultimately finding the courage to walk away from a life that wasn't making her happy.

Lori talks about how this journey started rather unexpectedly with her wanting to improve her golf game. That drive opened up a whole new realization about how she was relying too much on external achievements for happiness. Once she started focusing on her mindset, things turned around. Now, she helps other women who feel stuck or unheard to recognize their worth and step up their game in life.

We chat about the fear of change—how people often worry about losing friends if they grow and change. But Lori highlights that real friends will back you up no matter what. She’s all about expanding comfort zones gradually, so it feels natural rather than terrifying. This episode is a reassuring reminder that it’s okay to want more from life and to take the steps toward living authentically and happily.

  • In this episode, I chat with Mara Palermo, a relationship coach who’s all about helping people understand attachment styles and how they affect our relationships. Mara shares how we connected with our caregivers when we were little shapes how we act in adult relationships. She shares her own story, from working as a stylist and listening to clients’ relationship woes to becoming a relationship coach after realizing that the relationship patterns she and others experienced weren’t all that different.

Mara breaks down the four main attachment styles: anxious, avoidant, fearful, and secure. She explains how people with an anxious attachment style might constantly seek reassurance in relationships, while those with an avoidant attachment value their independence above all. The fearful type combines both, pushing and pulling in relationships, which can make trusting others tricky. On the other hand, a secure attachment means being more balanced and open in relationships.

What’s important about her story is that Mara has lived through these patterns herself, and now she helps others move towards healthier and more secure attachments. She talks about how important it is to build a solid relationship with yourself first and offers some tips on self-soothing and understanding the stories we tell ourselves in relationships.

Mara offers a fun quiz to help you learn your attachment style if you're curious about where you stand. Her approachable and insightful advice is a reminder that everyone can work towards better relationships and personal growth at any point in life.

  • In this year-end episode, I have a great conversation with Christine Mathieu, a seasoned financial coach with over 30 years of experience. Christine opens up about her unique background, which spans surviving cancer, experiencing divorce and bankruptcy, and transitioning from a career in banking to a fulfilling path in financial coaching.

Christine introduces a fascinating online money types quiz designed to help individuals uncover their subconscious relationships with money, emphasizing that this understanding is crucial, especially for those navigating life transitions like divorce. The quiz, which takes roughly five minutes to complete, offers participants a subsequent 45 to 60-minute session with Christine to explore their results, providing invaluable insights into their financial habits.

Throughout the episode, Christine discusses the eight money archetypes that shape our financial decisions, shedding light on how divorcees often fall into patterns of financial anxiety and self-doubt, particularly those with 'innocent' and 'victim' tendencies. She highlights the importance of self-awareness and the power of conscious decision-making in overcoming these limiting beliefs.

We discuss viewing money and divorce as "classrooms" for self-discovery, encouraging listeners to shift perspectives and reclaim their financial agency. With neuroscience insights and personal anecdotes, Christine emphasizes the role of intentional thinking in breaking free from deep-seated patterns around how we deal with money.

    About the Guest:

Christine Mathieu defines wealth as a state of well-being, beyond what one has or makes, and believes our purpose is to align our financial decisions with a life that supports both personal and collective fulfillment. A survivor of cancer, divorce, and bankruptcy, she understands major life transitions and has learned that trusting yourself often leads to wonderful and unimaginable outcomes.

As a Certified Money Coach (CMC®) with decades of experience as a financial advisor and wealth coach, Christine helps individuals transform their relationship with wealth by shifting their beliefs about themselves and what they think is possible. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Metaphysical Science and is an ordained Metaphysical Minister. “Coffee” is Christine’s favorite time of day, spirituality is her favorite subject, and you will often find her on the sidelines of a soccer field cheering on her boys.
