Colorado State Women's basketball is where Annie Brady calls home. Where she once played, she's now on the coaching staff. In her new position, she's bringing an incredible skillset and expertise to the mix.
Today I sit down with Annie as we chat about her sports background. What she learned playing junior college (JUCO) volleyball and basketball at Salt Lake Community College, and then what she learned heading to Colorado State.
We also learn about her experience serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and what she was able to take with her through the other parts of her life. When you understand that there's a bigger plan in place for you, it changes the way in which you go about things and handle some of the difficult situations in life.
Transitioning to the coaching world also isn't easy, but we get to hear about what she's learned in her short tenure as an Assistant Coach at Colorado State and it's something you don't want to miss!! Girls Wrestling is one of the fastest growing sports in the country. Jordan Jimenez has been a big piece in that story here in the state of Idaho.
The Wrestling coach joins the show today to share some insights into the sport of Girls Wrestling, including some of the strategies and things he's learned throughout the process of coaching girls.
Jordan is a former college wrestler who found his love for the sport once again when he began coaching.

In my next to last basketball game of my Senior year in high school, our team played against Highland at the Idaho Center. It was in that game where we played against Wil Carter and his team. Now, 18 years later, I have Wil on the show to talk about his amazing career that extended far past the high school days!
What's great about Wil's story is his determination to get better. It didn't always come naturally for him, but once he made the decision to put the work in, it's crazy what happened to his game.
We talk about JUCO, Division 1, and Professional basketball. When I was in High School, I remember talking all the time about the "Athletic Training Center" (ATC) here in Boise, Idaho. Little did I know, years later I'd be speaking with the former owner of the ATC here on my show.
Todd Hine is a sports performance specialist, a former athletic trainer for both professional and collegiate athletes, and an entrepreneur. He's sharing his insights with us today which include some of the knowledge he has on what it takes to compete at a high level.
He was a former collegiate athlete himself, and he too has overcome adversity (even at the time of this recording he's working on healing up from an injury so he can compete in the coming year). He's a believer in proving the doubters wrong, and through his story, my hope is you will be motivated to do the same.
We can learn a lot through the stories of others. Todd's story is no different. From being around some high level athletes he knows what separates the good from the great and the great from the elite. So make sure to tap into this one!

Man oh man, does Mike Lacey have some fun stories about his playing days at BYU!
Lacey was a football player at Brigham Young University who played in some very meaningful games with some amazing people. In this podcast you're going to hear about some of those including the 1979 win over Texas A&M which was an incredible point in BYU Football history. The explanation of everything leading up to that game however, is what is the bread and butter of the story. So make sure you're staying tuned in for that one.

I'm telling you, these conversations are incredible, and it was through his podcast that I actually came in contact with him. Jordan Trejo was surrounded by lacrosse superstars in her family from the time she was born. She fell in love with the sport and competed in lacrosse at a very young age.
In high school, she had aspirations to play at the next level and had different opportunities prior to finding a home at BYU in Provo, Utah. Now she is the Head Coach at Boise State for their Women's Lacrosse club!
We'll chat about her journey and the ups and downs of her own recruiting cycle when she was in high school. We'll talk about playing at BYU and how that actually was different in many ways as compared to where she played high school lacrosse back east.
Through her career she had some amazing memories too which she will share with us on this episode and she has some amazing life lessons she's taken away from her teammates and coaches that she'll enlighten us with as well.

If you know wrestling in the high school space, you know of Hudson Rogers. The man just keeps on winning! Having been here in Idaho, and being connected with my Alma Mater (Meridian High School), I kept hearing his name year after year.. It seemed as if he just kept winning more and more tournaments in the sport of wrestling.
Now we have a chance to hear from him on the podcast!
Hudson's been wrestling since he was three years old, and he's now committed to Utah Valley University, where he expects to make an immediate impact upon arriving.

In 2022, I had Dallin Blanchard on the podcast to speak about the sport of Disc Golf. It was at that time that I learned just how big the Disc Golf Community really is and how cool and unique the sport itself is.

At 6'11 and athletic, it's no surprise that basketball was the sport of choice for Greg Kite. The suprising part of his story is how he was able to sustain such a long professional career by staying healthy at that size as he competed with some of the best players in history.
Today, we get to hear the story of Greg Kite and his journey through the NBA and beyond!
A McDonald's All-American in High School, a stud at BYU throughout his 4-year career there and the 21st overall pick in the 1983 draft to the Boston Celtics, Greg had a chance to compete alongside some of the sport's greatest stars at various levels.

For the last few years I've had the honor of watching Avery Howell as she took the girls basketball scene by storm as a leader for her Boise High School squad! The growth she had over the past few years was insane and to see how she handled the pressure when the spotlight was on her, was incredible.
Her work ethic and her passion are large reasons why she found herself with the honors of being a McDonald's All-American in 2024 after her senior year at Boise, and why she will be playing basketball at USC next season!
Avery is just one of two girls basketball players from Idaho to be named a McDonald's All-American, so you may consider taking notes on this one because she knows what it requires to get to that next level.
From waking up early for YEARS and putting in the work. To the sacrifices required to be able to improve her game as a young high school student athlete. She has quite the story to share with us today!
We'll hear about her preparation for the Canadian National Team as well where she competed this summer and then we'll learn more about her preparations for heading to California and why she chose USC in the first place.

From the diamond to the business world, Brandon Buck knows a thing or two about what it takes to be a leader and a motivator in life. From his bio on his website it reads:

I first learned of Dan Hawkins when he was the head coach for my Alma Mater, Boise State University. From 2001-2005, Coach Hawkins was leading the Broncos on their journey during their 'growth phase' from a national perspective. While that era was not the first time Boise State had tasted massive success (Coach Hawkins will be the first to tell you that Boise State has ALWAYS been a winning program), it was a time where the media deal allowed for the Broncos to be seen on a national level.
Ever since that time, I've followed Dan Hawkins and his journey through the coaching and broadcasting ventures he's been on. It seems that everywhere he goes, he leaves a mark! And today is a great opportunity to hear from him on his experiences.
What was it like leaving Boise State for Colorado, where his son, Cody (who is now the head coach at Idaho State University) and having to go through the ups and downs of that time in the (formerly known as) Big 12.
We talk about his CFL coaching experience and what it was like at the professional level with the hurdles you have to jump with the Canadian rules and strategies.
We also chat about his experience at UC Davis, where most recently Coach Hawkins coached from 2017-2023.
