  • This episode of Jigsaw reveals the various clues to the identity of someone who perhaps, for one reason or another, did not want to be identified. Nevertheless - with no name - Locate International, along with the police, are interested to know if the person dubbed 'The Sligo Man' can finally be revealed.

He gave his name as Peter Bergmann, and an address in Austria, when checking into a small hotel in the Irish town of Sligo. But the name was false. And the address didn't exist. What he did next has baffled investigators and left more questions than it has given answers. But the end result was that the man was found deceased on a nearby beach just a few days later.

  • The Missing Podcast travels to North America - and in this first episode we tell the story of the baffling and tragic disappearance of Elisa Roberson.

Elisa was born in Nicaragua, but settled in Texas with her mother, in search of a better life. But her story comes to an end in August 1989, when she was aged just 13 - after she disappeared after setting off on a walk to meet a friend. Speculation has swirled ever since around exactly what happened. Fingers have pointed in multiple different directions. But the family and law enforcement feel they are no closer to getting the answers they crave.

This episode hears from Elisa's younger sister Ruby. She reveals exactly what happened around the time Elisa vanished, and what's gone on in the decades since. She hopes that someone listening may be compelled to reach out to the authorities and end the families suffering.

This episode is supported by Doe Network. They exist to appeal for answers in hundreds of missing persons cases worldwide. Visit their website The Doe Network to find more information in this and many other cases, which all need help. They believe the case of Elisa Roberson CAN still be solved.

If you have any information which might help to solve this case, or anything you want to share, there is an easy way to get in touch. You can email [email protected] - your information will be passed securely to the relevant authorities. And you can get in touch anonymously.

  • This weeks episode centres on the Derbyshire town of Bakewell. It was there, in 1977, that a man was found deceased inside the building site of a new property. Despite the time that has passed, there remains hope that the items on his person could lead to someone being able to identify him. Could you help join the dots, between a concert ticket, some travel plans, a small town in Scotland and the Derbyshire countryside which proved to be this mans final resting place?

  • In this episode, many of the clues have already been unearthed... but the mystery remains. Can you help put these pieces of the Jigsaw together?

We have a young woman, likely to be French. And we have a name, which could have several different spellings. We have locations, friends, and even the name of someone she used to stay with.

And yet - a woman found dead on the A1 motorway near Baldock is still unidentified. Someone, somewhere is likely wondering what happened to her. Perhaps they are actively searching for their missing friend or loved one.

  • With every unidentified body there are some clues which point towards possible answers. All too often these can lead to questions, was the person employed, were they perhaps living rough, or alone. But then there are cases which carry multiple surprises. Even though the Mile End Man died more than half a century ago - there are clues in his case which investigators believe could provide answers.

As you listen to this episode, think about whether you can provide the missing link, which can help to identify him. Will you recognise his possessions? Or perhaps his clothing? Perhaps you have links to the areas of London it's thought he frequented. A middle aged, handsome and well-dressed man who suffered an early death - and whose story is still not complete.

  • The first twenty-four hours of a missing person case are the most crucial. Its of vital importance that the authorities are working with the most accurate and up to date information in order to best direct their search efforts.

Steven Durand was 31 when he went missing in Salford, in the North West of England. He was a mixed race man who walked with a limp, due to cerebral palsy. He had learning difficulties and mental health problems and was known to the local police as vulnerable. When the police first began searching for him, they mistakenly described him as white, later correcting the error but wasting valuable time and resources, looking for the wrong man. The last sighting of Steven was on October the 20th, 2018. He was captured on CCTV, wearing a black coat, and grey sweatpants, holding a can of fizzy drink that he then purchased. Salford was not an area Steven usually visited - his family have no idea why he was there. And they are yet to find out. Because that CCTV footage of Steven? It’s the last anyone ever saw of him.

  • The disappearance of 14 year old schoolgirl Charlene Downes is one of the most notorious missing person cases in UK history. When Charlene vanished from Blackpool in the North West of England in November 2003, it resulted in a media frenzy, one monetized by tabloids cashing in on rumours and exploited for political purposes by the far-right. In the two decades since she vanished, countless theories have been suggested and dozens of suspects put forward, including members of Charlene’s own family. Very few missing person cases have received such coverage and scrutiny, yet, today, her loved ones are no closer to learning what happened to Charlene that night, than they were over twenty years ago.

  • Sarm Heslop was never afraid to choose the road less travelled. The 41 year old from Southampton, couldn’t bear the thought of spending forty hours a week in an anonymous office, chained to a computer. Which is why, in the spring of 2021, she found herself working on a catamaran on St John in the US Virgin Islands. Sarm was working as the boat’s chef, captained by her partner at the time. One night, whilst moored at the harbour, the pair went ashore for dinner and drinks. Their return journey, as they approached the dinghy that would get them back to the boat, was picked up by CCTV. A short while later, In the early hours of the morning on March 8th, the police received a panicked phone call, saying that Sarm had vanished. That footage, taken from the harbour, would be the last ever taken of her.

  • All of us have things that we associate with the people that we love: a smell of perfume they wear; a taste of something they might cook; a personal possession which they once gave us, or which once belonged to them. When it comes to her brother, Marshal, what pops into Paige Fogen’s head is his truck. Marshall drove a dark blue, 2009, GMC SIERRA pickup. It was his pride and joy. Marshall and Paige had driven thousands of miles together in it over the years. The siblings had gone through a lot, and the truck represented their journey together, both physical and emotional. So when the truck was found abandoned and burned out, by a group of hikers in a remote wooded area near Pemberton, Canada, Paige’s reaction was visceral. What was the truck doing there in the first place? And most importantly, where was its owner: her brother? That’s a question Paige has been trying to answer, for over four years now.

  • In many missing person’s cases, there’s a potential suspect, a clear motive, or a reason why the missing person might have wanted to vanish….But sometimes cases come along with none of that. Cases which feel like such a mystery, it’s hard to know what to think or where to start. Cases like that of 51 year old mother and grandmother, Patricia Duncan, who disappeared more than 20 years ago from a quiet seaside village on the coast of Scotland. From the outside Patricia lived a full life. She had 7 children and 11 grandchildren who she doted on. She was part of the local amateur dramatics group, and shared hobbies with her husband George. She had no known financial stresses, or mental health concerns. Yet, in 2002 as a huge storm raged outside, Patricia went missing from her home in the middle of the night. And no one in Patricia's family has heard from her since.

  • In season seven of The Missing, we’re examining, for the first time, missing person cases outside of the UK and Ireland. Today’s episode takes us to the United States, and the city of Tenino, Washington. That’s where Nancy Moyer, a 36 year old mother of two, who worked at the department of ecology, lived. When her daughter Sam thinks of her, she imagines Nancy smoking on the porch of her house. She recalls her enjoying a glass of wine in the kitchen. She remembers the feeling of her mother’s arms wrapped around her, after she’d crawled into her bed. But she also can’t forget the day, in March 2009, when she arrived at her mother’s place with her father and sister and Nancy wasn’t home. Her cigarettes were in their usual spot on the porch. Her wine glass was on the living room coffee table. The front door was ajar and Nancy Moyer was nowhere to be seen. Fifteen years later, Sam is still searching for her.

  • The moment when a child enters adulthood is a tricky time for every parent. Do you get involved when they make mistakes, or in a bid for independence, do you let them figure it out themselves? For Anthea Langelaan, this question was one she grappled with endlessly. Every time she reached out a helping hand to her son, Cian, who lived in a small village in Donegal, Ireland, he would refuse all offers of assistance or guidance. Eventually, she made the tough choice to simply let him go his own way. Until tragically, one day in September 2020, she received the earth shattering news that her child was missing.

  • Living in a big city can make you feel small. It’s easy to feel isolated - despite being surrounded by millions of people - to lose sense of community and, perhaps, your self. Community was very important to Svetlozar Yotov, who lived in Angel, in central London. To the 30 year old aspiring culinary entrepreneur, his personal relationships were the most valuable things in his life. You could see it in the way he interacted with his flatmates - whom he loved to cook for - and in every text, phone call and encounter with his family. So, in October 2021, when Svetlozar’s family had not heard from him in 48 hours, they immediately knew something was wrong. He wasn’t answering his phone and a visit to his flat revealed he hadn’t been home for days. Over two years later and his family still have no idea where he could be.

  • THE MISSING IS BACK.

We're thrilled to announce the new series of The Missing is complete, and the first episode will be available on Wednesday February 14th.

We have eight more episodes - eight more unsolved long-term missing cases which need your help.

And - for the first time - we're adding something different. We've integrated the podcast with Missing People's Urgent Appeals, meaning that if there's an urgent appeal for a recently missing person, you'll get the detail delivered straight into whatever episode you're listening to. We, and Missing People, hope that this will mean urgent appeals can spread quickly, and maybe reach people who can help. Listen out for these urgent appeals, which will appear not just in the current series, but be added to any episode from the past seven series, that you happen to be listening to.

This season, just like every season, all episodes will be available for FREE - with a new episode released every week. But if you want to get ahead, we'll be making all episodes available to subscribers from February 10th, there's no need to wait. And all of the episodes will be ad-free.
