In today's episode I am breaking down how your fertility works, how it declines over time, the factors that impact fertility, why and how I'm getting my fertility tested, what I'll do if my results aren't what I'm hoping and much more!
Since starting my career in women’s health and fertility, my stance on fertility testing and family planning has completely changed. The fact of the matter is that we are struggling with infertility as a society more than ever before. Working every day with women and couples who are on their fertility journey has had a life changing impact on my perspective and now, my personal decisions.
Currently, as many as 1 in 5 women will struggle with infertility and sperm counts in western countries have fallen over 50% within the past 50 years. These statistics are not something to take lightly, especially if you’re like me and know you want a family someday.

It is your birthright to feel amazing in your body. You deserve to feel strong, sexy, confident, proud and comfortable in the way that you look. The problem is, most of us are not there. We feel ugly, unattractive, too fat, too skinny, too jiggly, our butt is too small, we have tummy roles and cellulite, our clothes don't fit right, the list goes on and on AND ON.
So, we turn to fitness, which isn't inherently a problem on it's own.
But, it becomes one (a very big one), when we approach changing our bodies and working out from a place of self-hatred, disgust and unhappiness.
You want to lose weight? Great. You want to build muscle? Amazing. You reserve the right to change your body in whatever way you please that makes you feel more confident. BUT, you CANNOT beat yourself and body up to get there.
We are approaching health and fitness ALL WRONG and it's causing us to have body dysmorphia, disordered eating patterns, constant anxiety, major insecurities and honestly, is just leaving us feeling miserable.
In this episode I am laying down the law when it comes to your mindset and relationship to your body while you are working towards your fitness goals. Expect to learn how to approach your fitness journey and working out in a way that makes you feel way happier in your body, less obsessive about food and what you look like, have better balance when it comes to meeting your goals and still having flexibility, why you can't trust social media influencers, concrete steps to build a healthier relationship to food and a stronger body image, and much more.

Wanting to lose weight is NOT a bad thing. You deserve to feel confident, sexy and amazing in your body, but, you CANNOT beat yourself up to get there. It's not okay to starve yourself, restrict yourself, become obsessed with food or working out and feel like your self-worth comes from what your body looks like.
In this week's episode we are diving into the top mistakes you're probably making if you've been trying to lose body fat, look "toned" and tighten things up. I break down why these mistakes are so common, why we gravitate towards things that genuinely don't work long term, and what to do instead to feel amazing throughout the process of building a body you feel fabulous in.

"You don't have to give up your life for your fertility."
In this episode I'm interviewing Emily Getz. She is a fertility mindset coach, trained in Neuro Linguistic Programming and the founder of Day 1, a first of its kind fertility support network and host of The Day 1 Podcast.
Expect to learn about Emily's fertility journey, how to navigate the process of not getting answers when you're trying to get pregnant, how to check in on your fertility proactively, why infertility impacts our relationships and what you can do to strengthen them, how to still have joy in your life if you're struggling to get pregnant, why comparing your life to your friends is making you miserable and much more!
More about Emily's Story:
In October 2019, Emily was pregnant with her second child whom she lost unexpectedly at six months pregnant, due to an external infection. This experience changed her life and was the precipice of how Day 1 came to be. Over the past three plus years, Emily has experienced a late pregnancy loss followed by a year of cycle monitoring, one IUI, three rounds of IVF, one ectopic pregnancy, (which resulted in the removal of her right fallopian tube), two failed fresh transfers and an 8-week miscarriage after conceiving unassisted. Today you find her navigating what next steps look like all while documenting the emotions, decisions, disappointments and truths behind a fertility quest.

If you are a woman or menstruator in your fertile years and you have not sat yourself down and truly thought about if you want kids, when you want them, how important it is to you and the reality of pregnancy in our modern world, IT IS TIME.
We now know that 8 of 10 women who are childless at the end of their fertile years did NOT want to be childless. This is a huge problem and one that I cannot overstate the importance of having a conversation about.
In modern society we are told that IVF, egg freezing, etc. are silver bullets and an amazing "plan B" if you can't get pregnant naturally. We are being sold the narrative that you can have kids whenever you want to and that if you can't have them naturally, technology will save you. This is doing us a disservice and preventing us from having a real, raw and honest conversation about fertility, pregnancy and our biological clocks.
In this episode, we are having this difficult conversation together. I walk you through some questions that I am asking not only myself, but my clients and friends. This isn't to make you want or not want kids, it's to help you explore, feel empowered about and truly get in touch with what YOU want and how you're going to make it happen.
Basic hormone, health and fertility testing I mentioned in this episode to talk to your doctor about:

Your relationship to food is one of THE MOST important relationships you'll ever have.
Speaking from personal experience and as someone who struggled with an eating disorder for almost 10 years of my life, taking steps to better understand and improve your relationship to food is a nonnegotiable. If you find yourself stressing about what you eat, feeling restricted, bingeing in private, feeling "out of control" around food, this episode is for YOU. Not only is it so important for your overall health to feel good about what you're putting in your body, but it is also an incredibly important aspect of living a happy, full life. If you're always thinking about food and your body, it is a miserable reality. This episode and Emily's work is going to help you break out of that prison.

Cycle syncing is a HOT TOPIC.
Did you know that your nutritional needs, focus, sex drive, work capacity, stamina, brain function and so much more changes throughout each phase of your cycle?
Today, I'm interviewing Caroline Bomer from Cycleway all about living in sync with the four phases of your cycle so you can work WITH your hormones, not against them. Caroline is a menstrual health educator & advocate (especially when it comes to painful periods). Her goal is to make hormones, periods, and cycles easy & simple for the everyday woman. She believes you don't have to be an expert to understand your own body (and I totally agree!!).
